Last night I made some chicken burgers with steamed broccoli, lima beans and squash. I had made some Mac n' Cheese for everyone else. But I skipped that and did have a biscuit. I actually felt full. Very happy person.

I'm feeling great eating more fulfilling meals and exercising daily. I have more energy naturally than I have had in a long time. I haven't been on the program for long, but I have lost 5 lbs already.

Working this week at getting my fruits/veggies. Its a tough one for me at times to get all of them in. Many more times I just make it to 2-3 veggies and 1-2 fruits. But I do try and plan for them and get it into my head to push them more. Life goes on..........watching my portions not a big problem, some days Ya we fall but as long as we pick ourselves up and dust our selves off and go forward we will be just fine. No one is perfect. So lets hold our heads up and just keep going forward. emoticon

Slipped up this week. Haven't tracked since Friday. Really no good reason. I usually have at least 5-6 fruit, veg. servings/day. Back on track now. Can you start a week over or have I blown this challenge?

I'm finding that smoothies, soups and salads are the way to go for me. I can fit my 5 veggies in and also fill up for few calories. I even added more water to my soup so it would be a larger serving and still not go over on calories.
I bought some strawberries and cottage cheese over the weekend and love that combination. You can have a nice size serving for just over 100 calories. It has protein to help keep you full and a serving of fruit. Since I am trying to eat more mini meals, it is a good choice for me.

Staying focused on veggies really helped me not overdo it on Easter. Made a couple choices that I might have been better off without, but overall it was good.

On Day 3 of Week 3. Haven't done too well posting - I seem to have been too busy. Going to try stir fry for dinner tonight using chicken broth in lieu of fat. Also I am drinking tomato juice and V8 to try and get more veggie servings in. We were out for 2 Easter dinners over the weekend at friends' places so that was a challenge but luckily they both served lots of veggies like beats, parsnips, broccoli, carrots, etc. Hope everyone is having a great Easter weekend!!

I have found it challenging to get 5 full servings of vegetables in every day, especially if I eat out or at another person's home. I used to rely on a mix of fruit and veggies to get my daily 5 but am slowly retraining my brain to love my vegetables. I love the feeling of fullness they give when I add a salad or veggie soup to dinner.

I'm finding ways to get veggies into things I eat---like adding more broccoli or spinach to my omelet, loading up my usually plain lettuce salad with new veggies, and adding more veggies when I have a sandwich.

Doing good on veggies, although probably could up the variety. Need to watch carbs & fats closer, my downfall according to the tracker.

I need to change what I eat every day. I also need to watch my food tracker more closely on the sodium level. If the number is too high, I tend to stay the same even if the calories are good. It is a real learning process. Making necessary changes and feeling good., that is what I love about this site. emoticon

Starting week 3: whole grains, water, nuts, fruits and lean protein...all pretty much ok. But as a veggie person, I'm surprised that i don't always have five different vegetables a day, though I love salad. I tend to go for the same old same old. That is my continuing challenge: to use a variety of veggies. Thanks for this nudge to truly look at my fruit-veggie balance!

Starting week 3 of the challenge today. I'm already pretty good about whole grains, but there is always room for improvement. I find that my challenge this week is to eat more fish and will aim for at least twice this week. I've cut back on the amount of beef we eat and have chicken and ground turkey more often. I'm having fun investigating the SP recipes.

I was really overeating in week one..... not much happened. 1/2 way through week 2 I really focused on everything I ate, the scale is moving in the down position. :) I really have to plan and stick to the plan each and every day and stay within my point range or I stay the same. Fruits, vegetables, small amounts of beef chicken and fish are what I have been concentrating on. Until the end of the 4th week....no bad choices. (I hope) emoticon

It's just amazing how much better a person can feel when you eat better. I have been 100% on program now since Jan 1. I decided to make this year the year. And I feel better. I want to make this my normal so that when I do have something that is not on my program, I won't like it as much. It's truly a mindset for me.

I think I can. I know I can. I will.

Don't let yesterday use up to much of today!

This has been a REALLY difficult week. Social situations have arisen more often than I would have liked which have taken me to restaurants and such and caused me to go over, over, over in so many of my value counts.
BUT, all that extra sodium has given me cause to drink even more water than just "the norm". LOL!!!
AND, I have still been able to trade out some things for veggies at restaurants and such and add more veggies to the meals I've prepared and cooked at home.
Also, I experienced Shirataki noodles this week. Nice find!
This week has also enforced in my mind how much I REALLY need to find a way and come to terms with making these "social eating" situations more "doable" and "health friendly" in my life.
I am SOOOO looking forward to a better week!!!!
May yours be FANTASTIC as well!!! emoticon

I'm already putting the essential foods in the article, in my diet plan - except what is restricted by my doctor. As for low calorie filling meals, I'm very good at this, especially since I've been measuring everything these past months. I do not snack, this is a doctor's guideline so my meals will be higher in calories, as I only eat 3x per day. At this time I cannot incoroproate nuts but when I'm done at the end of April with the doctor plan, I will bring back almonds. I cannot eat any beans or legumes due to IBD.

I find I've added spinach to quite a bit - eggs, salads, on cheese sandwiches, tuna . . . Delicious. I have never eaten kale. Something worth trying. I want to buy a spaghetti squash when I shop this weekend. That sounds good to me.

I have added more green veggies to my plate this week. Kale is chopped up in egg-white omlets, stews and soups. I've also added a variety of beans to different salads and stir-fry. Healthy saute using a couple of tablespoons of chicken or veggie broth has added flavor instead of calories.

Hello all! I worked the article Healthy Foods That Keep you Full article in the Week 3 email. I am finishing week three strong. I've added more veggies daily than I normally eat. I've had small salads with my pizza so as not to eat so much of the pizza and get more water-filled foods to stay fuller longer.

Sitting on my hands helps too! ha ha

On to week 4! Good luck everyone!

We are vegetarians (but) we have to go more vegan. I am crazy about cheese and I have got to get over that.
Ice cream is another bad thing I eat too much of.
I do have some things to work on (chocolate) is another one. Oh well.
Perhaps that's why my weight (belly) isn't getting the way I want it.

I liked reading the articles and being reinforced in a positive way about some of the choices I've already been doing. I like to have a breakfast of steel cut oats, plain Greek yogurt, and some berries (blueberries, strawberries and/or raspberries). It's good to know I'm on the right track. This breakfast really does seem to help in lots of ways: feel full and fueled longer, sticktivity, tastes great, love the combination of textures, seems to help with cholesterol lowering, never bored by it. Try it. You just might like it too!

One of the things my nephews & I started doing this summer was making our own popsicles with yogurt & applesauce. The applesauce ones are our favorites & so yummy! Might help your subsitution of applesauce for ice cream even easier if you want a frozen treat.

We've been on "vacation" for a few days, eating out lunch and supper. ugh! I've ordered things that had more veggies, thinks like chicken wraps, skyline chili on a baked potato, etc. This challenge has definitely make me more mindful of choosing more veggies, esp. as snacks.

Blessings,
Heidi

So far so good. Just read the articles for week 3. I think I need to rethink breakfast and go with oats. I tend to grab a container of Greek yogurt. It's healthy, but the oats have more fiber. Apparently they 'stick with you' longer too. It's worth a try. I can always switch off. That way I won't get bored.

Great ideas and inspiration here -- Thanks! Way to Go MTPOETNH -- substituting applesauce for ice-cream dessert, and not even missing the ice-cream! Great idea -- I am going to do that, too.

I am getting much better planning on fruits and veggies in to keep me filled. I learned a few new meals to eat from the article in the week three challenge. Things are going well!
