Hello Judy I started the new topic for October "Off in October". I am sorry for the delay, as stated in the October post I have also been very busy planning for a trip. Hope you are doing well.

JJ, I hope you see this post, since it's still September! :) I have been SO busy lately that I haven't had the time or energy to post. I hope you make the new October topic so we can use it before we're in November! I was seriously thinking of Off in October since no one has been posting! :)

Still sort of on maintenance, but wanting to get back fully to LOSING! Did a lot of gardening today in preparation for the freeze we're supposed to have this weekend. I'm stiff and sore now.

Have a good weekend!

Hi, JJ. No, I have not made a topic. Shall we stick with our naming convention? Not sure what to do for October in that case. Can't think of a thing. If you have an idea, go ahead.

Another beautiful day here in the QC. Hope we get more!

We need an October page. I don't know how to make it a sticky topic, though. Can someone help? I'm still working on getting back on my meal plan. I think I'm just bored with eating so well and I want some naughty stuff! Too much of it, too. I'll get there, but it is hard. Wish getting in the groove was as easy as getting out!

Just a short note......Mediacom, you know, and I'm over my monthly allotment now. Don't know what's up with that, but I did have a conversation with Dish yesterday, and their rep (and don't quote me) said I could get 2-4-6 (something like that, under 10) GB per month for 29.95. Well, I laughed because my limit now is 250 GB per month, and I'm still going over it!!!!! LOL (Or, my kids are....)

Beautiful day today, hmm? Lost a pound, too, so I'm doing something to help me get back to my lowest...

Take care everyone.

We have actually created a wonderful way to decrease our "sinful pleasures" as we talk about them here in our little Quad City Spark team corner. At least talking amongst ourselves might help us overcome the desire to give in to our cravings. Nobody else needs to know if we have "fallen off the wagon" by indulging in Thai food or Sonic shakes.

Hey, Judy, what's with this Mediacom usage limit? My husband is so paranoid about the computer anyway, and now doesn't want to use it unless it is REALLY important. Communicating with my Spark friends is not important to him. I am so tired of fighting with utility companies, insurance companies, and banks. Every day there are new rules, which cost us more money#$%^&*&^%$#@!

Sorry I've been MIA. Been out of town and am having issues with Mediacom's new usage limits. I won't be able to be on much until about the middle of October. The Thai food is from Exotic Thai, Nan, in Davenport and Moline. It's yummy! Don't forget Vietnamese at LeMekong in downtown Moline. They're so good and are trying to build up their clientele again (sold to someone, then taken back by the original family). So, go, if you're interested. They have delicious food! Keep going one day at a time, Jacque. I'm not on the wagon right now; it's so easy to fall off. Must get to that special place again where the weight loss eating is just normal. I'll get back to it. Be back when I can!

I've never had their 'shankes', ( lol sorry) but their chocolate snickers malts are sin in a cup! Should we even be mentioning evil treats here? (my bad) I've limited my trips there to once every couple of weeks. Not too bad. I may have already had my last one for the year. I just got done loadin up my fridge with fresh veggies! I really need to get serious about the weight loss. I feel so uncomfortable!

WOW!!!! I thought I knew where all of the meal deals were in the Quad Cities!! That was my first goal after retirement....where can we eat cheap. After a few trips to the "buy one get one free" restaurants we were sick of eating out. Then Bishops closed, which eliminated an easy place to eat healthy close to home. I would load up on vegetables and fish while my husband devoured their chocolate pie.

I only visited Sonic once before the Moline Sonic closed, but the one in Silvis is still open. Are their shankes good? Every once in awhile we get one at steak and shake. ......and I wonder why I'm not losing weight????

Jacque, if you ever visit my Sparkpage you will find very little personal information. As a matter of fact, you won't find much of anything because I didn't join the world of computers until after I retired in 2010. I have no idea how to decorate my page with pretty blossoms like you have or display photos.

You do not need to post your weight, height, measurements, or statistics of your life. This is your personal journey, and we are all here to provide encouragement and support. You have survived your first step by stepping forward to meet other members of Sparkpeople. To meet your first goal of our Sparked In The Quad Cities team.....STAY AWAY FROM WHITEYS!!!!!

Hello everyone. I heard this is where you all hang out so I thought I'd pop in and say hi.
I am 51. Struggling with my weight and with depression and anxiety. Most of which I've dealt with my entire life. I think once I passed 50 everything seems to effect me more. Maybe its the pre-menepause that's making me so sensitive. After being laid off I've gotten myself into this dark isolated place that is really taking its tole on me. I'm probably the largest I've ever been. I want to finish filling out my sparkpage but i'm afraid to weigh myself! I know its going to be bad. I could use some tips on getting started on this journey. It seems so daunting. Those 1st steps are always the hardest.

JJ and Judy, I saw Jacque's post, as I check dates when I visit our team site to see who has posted lately. I immediately went to her Sparkpage to encourage her to keep active. JJ, if there is anything I can do to help increase paticipation in this team, please let me know.

Meanwhile, it's great to keep hearing from my two Quad City Spark "Sisters"! My weight never changes, but I at least am not gaining. I have to stay away from Jim's ribs and Harris pizza!@#$%^&^%$ Judy, where do you get good Thai food???

I'll check for Jacque. Where is she posting?

I'm back on track, mostly. Had a good breakfast, and a fairly good lunch. However, I am having Thai food tonight (forgot about that yesterday!). I'll do what I can, but will remember that tomorrow is another day.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

Good Morning Team,
I was checking my emails and I received an email about a new member. After reading what she posted I realized that I need to work a lot harder at getting this team active again. I know that the few of us have been active but I need your help in getting the rest of the team back active.

Now the new member is JACQUEB610. She made a post asking if this team was still active. I would appreciate it if each of you would read her post and make her feel welcome. Also if you can send her a word of encouragement as she is going through depression right now. Thank you all and hope you had a great weekend and hope you have an even better week.

Yes, Nan, that is always a challenge. I have mainly been eating grilled meats, vegetables, lettuce salads with low-calories dressings or cottage cheese. That gets boring after so long, which is why I think I've been off the wagon for a bit. The family has been good about it, though, and what can they do really, other than start cooking themselves! The 3 here with me are all men, and they're not keen on doing the cooking!

I have found some good recipes on SP and in Cooking Light. Once one makes them a few times, they're easy to incorporate into a weekday meal. Enjoy this cook, beautiful day!

Wow! Judy, you are doing great. I can't seem to figure out what my problem is, but I think it might be that I am not getting enough calories. With cooler temperatures today I am in the mood for "comfort foods" again. I need to learn how to create healthier meals for my family without them knowing that they are healthier@#$%^&*&^%$

Another beautiful day today, and welcomed after yesterday's heat and humidity! I have not been on track with food lately, but was happy to find out that my scale and my doc's are the same. I have 6 pounds to lose to get back to my lowest weight, which I will do. Still, I was glad to know that I haven't gained more!

Hey, ladies, swing over to QUADCITYGEEK38's Sparkpage to keep him motivated. I just noticed that he has left a few posts on our team sight and JJ has responded to him. Haven't you ever seen his van around the Quad Cities? He has "QUAD CITY GEEK.COM" plastered across the windshield.

It's nice to have rain again, isn't it? My tomatoes are smiling.

Hello Thanks for the concern, but I don't go out walking when it is that hot. I have been married for a little over a year and a half, we didn't really go on a honey moon, but we do go out of town every chance we get. LOL!!! Hope everyone is having a good week and hope you have an even better weekend.

WHAT WAS THAT WET STUFF FALLING FROM THE SKY THIS AFTERNOON?????

Well, JJ, how nice to have you back with us. When we don't hear from you I'm always afraid that you were out walking on a hot afternoon and couldn't make it back home because of heat exhaustion.

At least you and your husband were able to get away...did you ever have your honeymoon??? You're still on your honeymoon, aren't you, after recently getting married?

Hi Nan and JJ...... A little cooler today, and it sure is welcome, isn't it? Rain slipped right by us today, and we could sure use some!

Yes, Nan, it is funny that we thought of the same thing. I saw your new topic, and that it is a 'sticky' topic. I don't really know what that means, and I sure don't know how I would have made my topic 'sticky', but I'm glad you do! We'll just use yours.

JJ, glad you've got your computer troubles figured out again. Hope you had a fine time on your vacation!

I've been spending a lot of time doing some projects that I have put off because they take so much of my time. Haven't been on these boards much because of this. Not doing great on my meals or exercise right now. I got out of the habit early in August and I think I'm bored with what I've been eating. I'm working on getting back on track so I can see the ticker go down again. The good thing is that while I have gained a few pounds, it's only a FEW!

OOOOPS!!!!! Sorry, Judy, I started a new monthly topic, not even realizing that you also started one the day before.....BUT, how ironic that we both thought of the same topic. It must be sailing season, huh? We seem to be the only ones communicating here right now.

I hope you had a good week end.
