Push ups

How to do it
Complete 5 push ups (also called press ups) of any type of course you are welcome to do more if you are able:

Beginners: Wall/Counter Top Push Ups This is for those of us who are just developing upper body strength and core strength. It is a great way to being a fitness program when you have not exerted your upper body muscles for some time.

Intermediate: Bent Knee Push Ups This is for those of us who have a little more upper body strength, core and back strength. It is a great way to prepare for more advance and standard push ups.

Advanced: Standard Push Ups This is for those of us who have upper body strength, back and core strength. This is a great way to boost your metabolism and burn lots of calories. They should be done smoothly like a hot knife slicing through butter. If you are jerking through them you should try to slow down or go back to the next level.

Why it matters
Besides building your muscles, push-ups also improve your stamina. The more push-ups you do, the greater your stamina will become.
There are numerous types of push-ups that target different muscles. The most common is a basic, two-handed push-up. Fist push-ups, one-handed push-ups, pyramid push-ups and wide push-ups are similar. You can also do push-ups with dumb bells and inflatable exercise balls.

Most push-ups in five minutes: 441, by Giuseppe Cusano in 2003
Most push-ups in 24 hours: 46,001, by Charles Servizio in 1993
Most nonstop push-ups: 10,507, by Minoru Yoshida in 1980
Most push-ups completed in a year: 1,500,230, by Paddy Doyle in 1989
