____ Plan ahead for Mother's Day. Start making decisions on your family's Mother's Day celebration. Are you going to host a party, make reservations for a brunch, or spend the day picnicking at a park. Consider all your options, contact siblings and children and make a decision early, this will give you more time to prepare.

____ May is National Bike Month. Bike riding is one of the best non-impact workouts EVER! According to Women's Health magazine, 'a 135 lb. woman, biking 12-14 mph can burn up to 488 calories in one hour' so celebrate by taking a bike ride this week. You could plan a leisurely outing or try riding your bike to work, to the gym, to run an errand and so on.

____ What's for dinner tomorrow night? If you don't know then start planning now. During a break, think up or look up some recipes and write down the ingredients. Perhaps you could even find a recipe using ingredients you already have at your disposal. Planning ahead guarantees a smoother day tomorrow.

1) Learn your areaís ďLast Average Frost DateĒ Frost dates vary across regions and years. However, knowing the average last frost date will give you an advantage when youíre spring planting. Once you know the date, wait two weeks before planting or moving anything outdoors. My region's last frost date range is May 3rd through 9th, so we'll plant around Memorial Day Weekend.

2) Clean birdfeeders Clean birdfeeders or add one to your yard. Double check the mounting of the feeder and make certain the mount is sturdy. Add some food for a wonderful display of feathered friends this spring.

3) Prune dead wood Spring is the best time to prune any dead wood from trees and shrubs. Generally dead wood won't grow leaves anymore and will feel drier, hollow, and lighter. I usually scrape the bark a bit to see if itís green underneath the top layer. If itís not, itís probably dead.

4) Sweep the front porch Grab a broom and sweep away all the dirt, dust and debris.

5) Fix popped nails on decks Are there nails sticking up out of the wood? Nail them back in or replace them with a deck screw
