____ May 1 Have you been setting stuff aside as you spring clean for a garage sale? Set a date and prepare for it.

____ May 2 Schedule any appointments for camp physicals, dental appointments...even physicals for the fall school term if your schedule is tight.

____ May 3 Buy or make any needed end-of-year teacher gifts.

____ May 4 If there are students in the family, final exams may be looming. Check supplies of paper, printer ink, etc. If your student is away at school, send a final exam ‘care package.’

____ May 5 It’s Cinco de Mayo. Plan a Mexican food dinner.

____ May 6 If you like to do bulk shopping, plan one last trip while the kids are still in school and get it done.

____ May 7 Clean out the garage and or garden shed. Organize garden tools and seed packets. Discard or donate extra pots and other unneeded items.

____ May 8 Don't let a leak surprise you. Check under all sinks, and look around water heaters and air conditioning units for water where it should not be.

____ May 9 Find single socks, match those with mates, and discard or use the others for cleaning.

____ May 10 Happy Mother's Day! Whether you are someone's mother or not, use some time today just for yourself, to read, scrapbook or whatever you enjoy.

____ May 11 Set up swim lessons or other summer activities for kids.

____ May 12 Get the air conditioner serviced before summer.

____ May 13 Check your magazine subscriptions. Make a list of when they expire (and maybe what you paid for them). Knowing when a subscription ends makes it easier to discard all the ‘renew now’ mail that comes way before your renewal time.

____ May 14 Clean the bbq grill. Get everything ready for grilling season. Check supplies of charcoal or propane.

____ May 15 Bake some cookies. Share half with a neighbor.

____ May 16 Clean under beds. What are you storing there? Is that the best place for it? What can you get rid of?

____ May 17 If you have space between the top of your kitchen cabinets and the ceiling, it is probably dusty, maybe even a little greasy. Time to tackle it.

____ May 18 Visit a local museum. If there is not one near you, try a virtual tour online, such as the Museum of Natural History.

____ May 19 How clean is your oven? When did you last clean it? It’s a job nobody likes, but if grease builds up or a pan is forgotten, a fire can result. Clean using the self-clean cycle or use your preferred oven cleaner.

____ May 20 De-clutter DVR recordings. Delete those you have seen or know you are really not likely to watch.

____ May 21 What repair job in the house have you been neglecting for a while? Schedule a time to get it fixed or to replace what is broken.

____ May 22 Check all through the house for burned out light bulbs. Make a note of wattage needed, and put them on your shopping list.

____ May 23 Gather and take spare change to the bank.

____ May 24 If anyone is heading to camp this summer, begin collecting needed supplies...clothing labels, travel size toiletries, sunscreen, towels etc. Will anyone need a
new swim suit?

____ May 25 Happy Memorial Day. Go on a picnic or other outing.

____ May 26 Remove books from bookshelves and dust them off. Donate books you don't wish to keep.

____ May 27 Ready bicycles for summer. Have bike chains checked. Fill tires with air.

____ May 28 Schedule in time each week to pull a few weeds or take care of any other garden tasks.

____ May 29 Remove cushions from furniture and clean out crumbs, change, small toys etc. Then vacuum the furniture well, treating any spots that you can.

____ May 30 Clean all the vents in the house.

____ May 31 Consider the bills you pay every month. There might be ways to reduce them. If you never or hardly ever watch those premium cable channels, maybe it is time to eliminate them. If your landline has caller id, call waiting etc. and you pay extra for them, do you use them enough to be worth it?
