___ Sort and organize your food containers. Those food containers tend to multiply on their own. Gather them from the cupboards, including the lids, decide how many to keep, and discard those stained and lidless ones. Send the good, but unneeded, ones to a college student or someone setting up their home.

___ Make next year's taxes a breeze. Since tax season is upon us and almost over, set up a system to make next year's taxes easier. Label file folders or start a finance binder with your tax categories ready to hold any tax-related materials. Make it a habit to file any receipts now so tax time next year will be smooth sailing.

___ Plan a month of meals on paper. This can be a family effort by having everyone provide ideas of meals they would enjoy. Grab a blank calendar and start jotting in dinner ideas. Create your grocery list from your calendar menu.

1) Tighten loose door knobs and door handles Sometimes door knobs become loose and are no longer flush against the door. Fix those that need it.

2) Cover wall scuffs When I see a scuff on my wall, the first thing I do is use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to see if I can quickly remove it. If not, touching up with a tiny bit of paint does the trick.

3) Un-squeak squeaky door hinges Squirting a puff of powdered graphite alongside the pin where the hinge turns usually does the trick.

4) Tighten cabinet knobs and handles Very often, you can do this by twisting the knob with your hand and holding the opposite side at the same time so it doesn’t spin. Sometimes you’ll need a screwdriver.

5) Re-stick peeling wallpaper Using a knife, smear wallpaper paste onto an index card. Then, rub the card against the underside of the peeling section, covering it evenly with the paste. Press the wallpaper against the wall and smooth away bubbles with a clean cloth.
