____ Feb 1 February is a great month for tackling indoor projects that have been neglected or put on the back burner. Go through the house listing all those little things that need doing and any materials needed.

____ Feb 2 Itís Groundhog Day. This holiday began in the 1880ís and today nearly 30,000 people show up in Punxsutawney, PA to see this critterís prediction. Whether you believe his weather predictions or not, itís a good day to check for loose buttons, stuck zippers, and spots and stains on the familyís winter coats.

____ Feb 3 Itís National Bird Feeding month. Place a feeder where you can enjoy watching the birds.

____ Feb 4 Do you need to buy Valentines? Do it early in the month while there are still plenty of good ones around.

____ Feb 5 Look through gardening catalogs and order seeds to plant in the spring or to start indoors.

____ Feb 6 Does your city have curbside recycling or a recycling center where can take things? If you are not already recycling, itís a good time to start.

____ Feb 7 Itís easy to find yourself with a drawer or folder full of loose recipes. Work for 30 minutes a day to sort them, discarding those you know you wonít really make. File in a binder or recipe box.

____ Feb 8 Did you make a New Yearís resolution to be healthier? Revisit your resolutions and then plan some healthy meals. Continue or get back to the exercise practice you started in January.

____ Feb 9 Go through the house and clean your light fixtures...the globes and the bulbs. They get dusty. You may be surprised at how much better the light is when they are clean.

____ Feb 10 If your vacuum cleaner has bags that you change, check to see if it is time for a fresh one. A full bag decreases the vacuumís ability to do the best job.

____ Feb 11 Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk Day. While this is a good reminder not to stress over past mistakes, you might also check your kitchen floor to see if it needs mopping.

____ Feb 12 This is a good time to have maintenance done on mower, small tractors, etc. Shops that do this are less busy now.

____ Feb 13 Do you have a fireproof safe or a safe deposit box for hard-to-replace documents? If not, perhaps it is time to consider the best way to store marriage certificates, social security cards, etc.

____ Feb 14 Clean out your linen closet. Those old towels you never use would be appreciated by the animal shelter.

____ Feb 15 If your garbage disposal has developed an odor, try putting a cut-up lemon down it. Flush with lots of hot water.

____ Feb 16 Have you looked at the inside of your microwave lately? To clean, put a heatproof measuring cup of water in the microwave and turn it on for a couple of minutes. The humidity produced will help loosen any stuck on food when you wipe it out.

____ Feb 17 Random Acts of Kindness Day. Pay for a cup of coffee for the person behind you at the coffee shop drive through, or surprise a neighbor with some home made cookies.

____ Feb 18 Rotate your mattress for more even wear. If you have a mattress that can be flipped, do that as well.

____ Feb 19 Our houses are usually more tightly closed in the winter, and can get to smelling less than fresh. Cooking odors can be diminished by setting out a bowl of vinegar. If possible, open windows for just five or ten minutes each day to let in some fresh air.

____ Feb 20 Itís Love Your Pet Day ó Does Fido need a bath, or does Fluffy need her claws trimmed?

____ Feb 21 Organize your cleaning supplies, note what is running low. If there are some you hate because of the smell or toxicity, toss them or pass them on.

____ Feb 22 Make it a habit to never leave a room empty- handed. There is nearly always something out of place. Take it with you to the room where it belongs.

____ Feb 23 Clean your windows inside. While it may be too cold to do the outside, your windows will still look a lot cleaner.

____ Feb 24 Take a long handled broom or duster and clean those hard to reach places, like under the bed or behind the sofa. Reach behind upholstery to recover change, small toys, etc. Vacuum under the cushions.

____ Feb 25 Catch up on ironing while catching up on tv shows you recorded.

____ Feb 26 Itís Chili Day. Put your favorite chili in the crockpot and then use the day to play catch up on things on your TO DO list.

____ Feb 27 Gather up the bathmats in your home and wash them.

____ Feb 28 Back up your computer, smart phone and any other devices. Doing this on a regular basis can save a monumental headache at another time.
