Oh, thank you. I'll work on this this week and am buying flowers today for my office. Maybe I'll stay in it long enough to get something done if it has a happy spot. emoticon

1) Should you have them? Houseplants are not for everyone. Decide if you’re the type to give your plants tender loving care or if you’re too busy to deal with their needs. If your plants all look wonderful and they’re thriving, great! If most of your plants haven’t been watered in months and they’re dried up, it’s time to say goodbye.

2) Groom them Go through your home and assess your plants. Pinch off any dead or shabby foiliage. Trim those that have gotten too long or tall for your display area.

3) Dust them If you notice a layer of dust on your houseplants, and you live in a cold, wintery climate, dust them off with a soft dust cloth. When the weather warms up, take them outside to spray the leaves, top side and under side, with a spray bottle.

4) Check for pests If you notice any insects on your plants, go online and see what you can use to get rid of them before they end up killing those plants.

5) Avoid water rings Check for water seepage often. Excess moisture will damage floors and surfaces. Use waterproof saucers under the pots or use protective covering.

And NEW TO DO THIS WEEK from newsletter

___ Make an effort to discard physical and digital junk mail daily. How small can you shrink your inbox this week?

___ While you gather information for your 2014 income tax filing, get a jump on 2015. Set up basic files or envelopes to hold your tax-deductible receipts this year. Add the same categories to a file on your computer to store digital receipts.

___ Remind yourself that spring is coming with a fresh $5 bunch of fragrant flowers from the local supermarket.
