____ Nov 1 Remember to set your clocks back one hour for the end of Daylight Savings Time. Change the batteries in your smoke alarms. Enjoy your extra hour of sleep.

____ Nov 2 Thanksgiving is still three weeks away, but it is time to plan for it, especially if you have company coming. Plan the menu. What special tasks need to be done well ahead of timeólike ordering a fresh turkey? What dishes can you make ahead of time and freeze? If you are going out to a popular restaurant, make reservations now.

____ Nov 3 Cold weather will arrive soon. Time to get out the blankets and clean them if necessary. When was the last time you changed the filters in the heating/cooling system? This would be a good time.

____ Nov 4 Itís Election Day. Vote for your favorite candidates. Offer to pick up a friend who does not drive and take him or her to vote with you.

____ Nov 5 If your Halloween decorations are not yet put away, itís time. Display any Thanksgiving decorations.

____ Nov 6 Go through your makeup drawer and discard cosmetics you never wear or that have been around too long.

____ Nov 7 Are you getting drafts around your windows and doors? Reduce heating bills with new caulking or weather stripping.

____ Nov 8 If the weather is nice, get the family together and go on a walk, a hike, or a bike ride. If the weather is not nice, do something else together like a movie, bowling or board game.

____ Nov 9 Use your camera to inventory your belongings. Store the pictures on a flash or external hard drive in a safe deposit box, or in the cloud.

____ Nov 10 Will you be doing a long trip for Christmas? Make your travel reservations now.

____ Nov 11 Today is Veteranís Day. Invite a veteran you know for dinner or take some cookies to the closest VA center. Do your children know why we have Veteranís Day? It is a good time to explain what a Vet is, and why we honor them.

____ Nov 12 How long has it been since you decluttered your underwear drawer? Get rid of any with holes, stretched out elastic, or that you just simply donít like. Freshen the drawer with some new sachets.

____ Nov 13 Take a damp rag and clean fingerprints from light switches and doorways. If you have metal doorknobs, polish them as you go.

____ Nov 14 Make some hot spiced cider for a chilly evening.

____ Nov 15 Itís less than two weeks until Thanksgiving. Take time away from the planning and grocery shopping and treat yourself to a facial, massage, or get your hair cut and styled.

____ Nov 16 If you send holiday cards, update your list and get them done. Set aside until ready to mail.

____ Nov 17 Make sure that all of your pets are up to date on their vaccinations, heart worm prevention, etc. Do the pillows or blankets in their beds or baskets need washing?

____ Nov 18 Does your family have winter coats that they never wear? Now is a good time to donate them.

____ Nov 19 Clean out your email boxes. Shopping ads pile up faster than ever as we get closer to holidays. Try to clean out your inbox or inboxes at least once a day.

____ Nov 20 Declutter kidsí clothing. Let older kids help.

____ Nov 21 If there will be small children at your house during the holidays, go through each room and look for ways to child proof it. Put away favorite fragile objects that could be broken easily.

____ Nov 22 This is the last weekend before Thanksgiving. Time to do all you can to be ready. If you are having overnight guests, is the guest room clean and welcoming? Are coat closets ready for guestís coats. Are the bathrooms clean? If your turkey is still in the freezer,
get it out to thaw in the refrigerator.

____ Nov 23 If you are taking a dish to someoneís home for Thanksgiving dinner, be sure you have all the ingredients. Plan your menus for the week and grocery shop early today, the grocery stores will be crowded later.

____ Nov 24 If the day after Thanksgiving is your favorite day to shop, plan it. There are sites on the internet that reveal the sales at many stores. Do your research, and plan your trip.

____ Nov 25 Do last minute shopping for Thanksgiving. Do as much ahead as possible, even setting the table if you can. Cover it with a sheet to keep curious kitties off if necessary.

____ Nov 26 What is left to do before the holiday? Hopefully, not too much. Check your planning list and go through the house one more time to be sure you have everything done.

____ Nov 27 Happy Thanksgiving. Give thanks for all the blessings in your life, big and small. Go around the dining table and let everyone tell one thing for which they are thankful.

____ Nov 28 If you love Black Friday, get out early, dressed comfortably, and follow the game plan you made out a few days ago. If Black Friday is not your idea of fun, gather the family up and go to a movie or other special outing. Or enjoy watching a movie at home, happy knowing you are not in the crowds jockeying for a parking spot or waiting in line.

____ Nov 29 With Thanksgiving over, use the turkey carcass to make some homemade turkey soup. Use a tried and true family recipe or search for a totally new one on internet
cooking sites or in your cookbooks.

____ Nov 30 Take down any Fall or Thanksgiving Decorations. If you like to have your Christmas tree up for the month of December, itís a good day to put it up, with family there to help and decorate it.
