ANNEMARGAR: I have successfully mended my favorite socks. But I use a darning egg and carefully darn the holes with a weaving type stitch. Otherwise, the "patch" irritates my foot. So, my advice. if you're going to do it, do it this week, and if it doesn't get done, then get rid of the sock.

I have a pair of heavy cotton socks that have a whole by the toe. I thought I could just sew up the hole (though this repair has been on hold for the past three years). Do you think the stitching would hold?

Our mini challenges this week are focused on doing a few easy tasks that can make your life just a little bit nicer...and who doesnít want that? Here you go!

1) Refresh your towels Change all the hand towels, wash clothes and dish rags in your bathroom and kitchen. Then throw everything into the washing machine.

2) Clean out your sock drawer Remove everything from your sock drawer and wipe it out. Next, decide which socks get to stay and place them back into the drawer. What not to keep? Donít keep any socks you havenít worn in the last year, donít have a mate, or that have holes.

3) Make your own air freshener Create your own, personalized air freshener. All you need is a small spray bottle, your favorite essential oil, and some water. Add about 10-25 drops (depending on how strong you want the smell) of your favorite essential oil to Ĺ - 1 cup of water, shake and then use as a room spray. Lavender is a common oil to use because of its calming properties, but you can also use sandalwood, orange, clove, eucalyptus, lemon, or even mix some of them together.
