Doesnít spring motivate you to grab your Windex and clean your windows? Even if it doesnít, these 5 mini challenges will help you get your house as fresh as the new season...without taking up tons of time. This is part one...stay tuned next week for part two.

1) Carpets When was the last time your carpets and furniture were given a deep clean? Make an appointment with a professional carpet cleaning service and freshen up.

2) Windows Washing windows inside and out seems like an overwhelming job. So, break it up into manageable chunks. Clean one or two rooms a day for the next week or weeks and be sure to stick to your window cleaning schedule. If itís within your budget, you may choose to instead make an appointment with a professional window cleaning service. In my area, I can get the entire house done, inside and out, (and I have lots of windows) for about $150.

3) Window Treatments Take your window treatments to the dry cleaners OR clean them using the upholstery attachment to your vacuum.

4) Under the Fridge Grab a friend or your spouse and move the fridge. Wash, sweep, and/or vacuum whatís collected underneath. When itís back in place, wipe the surface clean...donít forget the top.

5) Floorboards Vacuum or sweep away debris like dust and spider webs from floorboards. Then using a mild soap or wood cleaner, wipe the floorboards around the room. This job isnít too labor intensive and really makes a room smell great
