This week’s mini challenges all focus on the end of summer! End the season off right. 1) Clean Out Waste Containers Empty and clean out garbage and recycling containers. Use a hose and soap to give these receptacles a thorough cleaning.

2) Avoid Overcrowding of Bulbed Plants Examine your flower beds, especially if you have plants that grow from bulbs. Often, the bulbs multiply and can create overcrowding. Now is a great time to split the bulbs, dry the ones you pull out, and then store them for the winter. Next spring you can find another area to plant the bulbs.

3) Look for End-of-Season Sales The end of August is an excellent time to find sales on gardening tools, lawn ornaments and plants…all at very reduced prices. Inventory the gardening tools you have and decide what needs to be replaced OR just have fun and buy something new for your yard. (Donate something else first, of course!)

4) Plant Some More The beginning of fall is also an opportune time to plant trees, perennials, and bushes. The best part is that most of these plants are on sale right now.

5) Rent a Power Washer Find a power washer and do some deep cleaning on patios, patio furniture, house siding, etc. You'll be surprised at how dirty these areas get over the course of the summer.

Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord of hosts. Zechariah 4:6 NKJV
