Lately, i have cut back on the snacks, I have two a day, yogurt and popcorn (as a general guideline) ... I do eat about every 4 hours to keep my blood sugar and energy level on an even keel. I have that if I snack more than this I tend to feel like I am eating all day long and so they are now scheduled. If I do get hungry before a scheduled meal or snack, I will drink water (I am recognizing that a lot of time I feel hungry in between times- it's because I am actually thirsty... this also helps for me to stay hydrated.

I stay away from the 100-calorie packs. I snack on fruit, yogurt, nuts, or a homemade smoothie. I usually eat 2-3 snacks a day.

Some of the snacks that help me are usually high protein low carb, with the exception of popcorn (great fiber, low calorie), I eat a lot of fresh fruits, 1 cup of berries serves as two servings, and generally have good carbs and natural sugars.
Another thing you might want to include are almonds, humus and fresh veggies.
Also the more you avoid those items that will lead to a binge, the less the temptation will be to eat those those foods anymore.
There are some great articles on good snacks in the Healthy lifestyle section in your tool bar... just do a search (and you will get spark points for the search as well..

Good luck and keep pushing!

So after not gaining for weeks I find I am actually gaining weight now even though I exercise consistently (5 days cardio, 3 days ST). Yeah I see myself toning up but I want to be smaller..I must admit. This has now convinced me about the importance of BOTH diet and exercise to weight loss.

My diet hasn't changed much since I started here and I want to change that. So I am starting small with my snack choices...why there because I know I have more control over these choices than the main meals. Forgive my babbling.

I am just here to ask about healthy snacking ideas...right now my snacking include Ocean Spray Craisins (100 calorie pack which has 18g of sugar much for thinking that was healthy), Nature valley bars and the occasional (well more than occasional) cream filled biscuit binge. I can substitute with fruit, apple, grapes, oranges, bananas (those are all I have readily available where I live). Any other ideas?

Thanks so much for the help
