Yep! Being more God-centered than either self-centered or agenda driven.

When a negative thought enters my mind, I try to change it into a positive thought. I don't succeed every time at all, but I am becoming more aware of my thoughts.

Playing my sax is how I connect with God. That gift is from God and I use it to Glorify His name. It's not bout me..it's all about HIM.

Chapter closing: "Think About It" (p.21)

+ Your mind, mouth, moods & attitudes are all intricately connected.
+ No matter what you experience, you are responsible for your own life.
+ A transformed mind leads to transformed moods, attitudes & behaviors.
+ Thinking Godly thoughts & speaking them each morning is an exercise that can change your entire day.

I so agree that we must focus upon positive things daily. Joyce has helped me so much in this area. When I rise in the morning, I must spend time with God and in His word. This helps to keep my mind going in a positive direction. There is just so much negativity that comes at us daily, that we do have to guard our hearts and minds with the word. This does helps us to prevent GIGO, which, I agree, can be exhausting and draining.

Chapter 2

Mind, Mouth, Moods, and Attitudes

Joyce draws out the premise that reflecting on positive things brings a more pleasant life. Is it actually true that we can influence so many things that appear out of our control ? Her impression, is that our emotions and moods are flexible in good directions, not just in inappropriate type of ways.

Many of things we fill our minds with, also eject right out of our mouths.
There are so many things to have opinions about everyday. How many of these ideas are beneficial and build up ourselves or others?

Actively feeding On God's faith-filled promises can impact how we see trouble and trials. The verses she uses in this chapter relate to what she states in her books. Ja.4:2, Matt .7:7-8 , Mark 11:24 ,Rom. 5:2,Roam 12:2. Really, reviewing scripture , is the only way, to successfully change our automatic mindsets.

Since, I've read her books; I know recognize GIGO from my mouth or others more promptly. Do you recall this term? It used to be a computer saying, garbage in, garbage out. Probably this phrase was hijacked from when programmers were trying to teach the rest of us.

I've noticed a few times this week, when I've heard some individuals around me, or on TV, gush out some complaints and wrong situations. Does this stuff make one feel exhausted and drained ?

Does good news make you charge you up. Maybe such as an energy drink or smoothie. At least perhaps a smile spreads on your face, or a laugh bubbles up...

Lastly, our author gives samples of what she calls, “ on purpose thoughts”. Sometimes people describe this concept as affirmations or declarations. I guess these things help some. However, if it is just speaking into the universe, and then we rush around and try and create and build something.... that's psychology , positive thinking, or new age philosophy. We can believe it, and it might seem , that there is a magnet out there...

Only when it is God's word or principles , will it do something substantial. Otherwise, it's merely human effort. When God partners with us, then it gets anointed. I often think of the story of the loaves and fishes. God takes our bit, and it gets becomes like yeast in dough. It smells delicious, meets our hunger, and makes so much more.

There is eight such statements on page 20. I'm going to rephrase a few, so I'm applying it personally. Then you can get an idea as to how to do this yourself.

God gaveme this Thursday today. I'm going to make the best of it. Let's see, if I can do two things for someone else .

God please give me favor today because I belong to you, and help me be aware of any divine appointments you might stick in my path. Sometimes I'm to busy to notice them.

I was feeling tired, but you said, if I will wait on you, I will not stay weary. Thank you Lord, ahead of time, although I don't notice any difference yet.
