emoticon @SVELTEMOM emoticon

This was a challenge that was introduced by "SVELTEMOM" on this team almost two years ago. I thought it would be a great idea to bring it back! : ) emoticon

I felt inspired by this idea my Spark friend did with her team. I think our team could have fun doing this same practice:
****************************************
*
Most of us understand what it means to love another person. The feelings of intense desire, admiration and emotional investment in another person are likely familiar. We go through great lengths to nurture our love towards others. But loving yourself? That can feel like a foreign concept to many of us. Self-love is a combination of self-acceptance, self-possession (different than self-obsession), self-awareness, and kindness and respect for ourselves. Self-love is both conceptual, an idea that you are worthy of self-respect and gentleness, and an action, treating yourself with compassion and nurturance. Put simply, self-love is positive self-regard in action.

Make a list of everything you love about yourself. Maybe you love your willpower and dedication to your fitness routine. Maybe you love the fact that you're always there to support the people you love. Maybe you love your eyes. Whatever it is, make a list - and then put it somewhere you'll see it! Read it to yourself whenever you need a reminder that you're a beautiful, amazing person!"
*******************************
Each person on my friend's team wrote a blog, making a list and describing everything they love about themselves. I am suggesting 2 choices:
1) HIT REPLY & POST YOUR LIST HERE
2) WRITE A BLOG AND THEN POST HERE SO WE CAN READ IT AND SUPPORT YOU
Their team is a highly supportive, nurturing team and would write positive messages underneath the person's blog post and give small spark gifts to congratulate the team member for doing something that is a bit hard for most of us. I think this is such a lovely idea that I'll commit to giving comments & gifts to the first five people who give this a try! Have fun.

@CONSISTENTFAITH thank you for this! I’m actually working on this same type of thing with my therapist. One thing I’m doing right now is trying to write 3 things that are good and positive about myself everyday. Try it! I’m trying to journal more. It helps! emoticon emoticon

For example: This one was my first entry back in July of "2015" I will make a new one soon! Feel free to jump in at any time! Also feel free to scroll down and read the entries! Very inspiring and motivating! emoticon

I love the fact that I found it in my heart to forgive everyone in my life who has hurt me and done me wrong. I love that I constantly keep trying in my goals and even when I get knocked down I ALWAYS get back up. I love the fact that my life has been hard and emotional and painful at times for in this pain I'm able to help others and be less self-centered. I love that I can be a testimony to others! I love that I have embraced the biblical scripture Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!" emoticon

Had a meeting with the store manager today...our annual survey scored very low, so, she wanted to know why...
Kathy and I were the last ones to have our meeting...We were honest, talked freely and in a heartfelt way, explaining our frustrations...When you approach someone in a sincere,, respectful manner...things happen...We all left (after an hour) feeling good without tearing others down...
Kindness goes a long way.... emoticon

Last night I was out for my Great Nephew's birthday. My nephews wife family was there and they are very critical about every thing and every one. I always feel like they are judging me. Last night was not different. But driving home I said - I love who I am because I don't judge people, I have compassion for everyone. I don't judge someone if they are disabled or if they are 100% fine. I love myself because I care and I have a good heart and God loves me. It did help, because usually I am down after seeing them. But last night I was fine and still am.

With two parents in hospice and a recent knee injury, this has been a long time coming. Thanks to all the trailblazers before me, who inspired me to write my own version.

Loving Myself
1: I love that I am a compassionate, empathetic and understanding person; I reach out and help others when they are in need, or sometimes just for the joy of the connection it creates (and I'm just beginning to try being that way with myself).

2: I love that I am open and adventurous; I love being spontaneous, the excitement of going new places and trying out many different and sometimes way over my head, experiences.

3: I love my creativity in all its forms; I love singing (esp. solo duets), painting (a paradise of form and color), cooking ~roasting, simmering, steaming, steeping luscious, colorful food, and playing with words (out loud with friends or in written form) and much, much more.

4: I love my ability to have an open hearted, deep, loving connection with my family (even though it's hard work and can also be incredibly painful ~we always work through it).

5: I love that I can sometimes be fully present, absolutely still and alive in the present moment (thanks to decades of meditation, yoga and qigong and some exquisite teachers).

6: I love that I have had many deep, strong friendships through many years ~an inner circle of intimate community that I love, laugh and feel truly nurtured by.

7: I love that I am learning to respect myself, and stop name calling and running myself down (hard to break a lifetime of family habits of being critical and judgemental)

8: I love that I am intellectually curious ~ a lifelong learner. I read voraciously, I try out new things conceptually, I spend time thinking, reflecting and discussing ideas and I am inventive in how I utilize that knowledge in my daily life.

9: I love that after 10 years on Spark People, I am finally back in the kind of shape that I dreamed of and that I used to be in many years ago. I mostly eat a healthy, balanced diet, I am very active and enjoy how it feels to move in a strong, toned body (except this past week on crutches with a torn meniscus), and I am learning how to love myself ~to notice and prioritize what I need.

10: Last but not least, I love my optimistic outlook ~ that even after a difficult divorce and tremendous heartbreak, I am finally open once again to sharing my life with someone special, and have begun dating!

I like getting to know the people on our team this way. I feel really inspired reading so many wonderful qualities in these posts! I love moving away from self criticism and focusing on what is good in ourselves. I promise to write mine soon (my parents are both in hospice and I am preoccupied with their care, so not quite sure how soon I'll find the time). In the meantime, these are some things I enjoyed reading in the posts below and from JLO863's blog:
"I found it in my heart to forgive everyone in my life who has hurt me and done me wrong."
"I have a huge caring heart."
"I love my many silver stands of hair. They are growing in like natural silver highlights."
"I love my sense of humor ( I think I'm funny! lol)"
"I love that I look in the mirror and like what I see."
"I love that im becoming me and not hiding who I am."
"I like how the concept and (the) idea was posed to me; so with that in mind - I will attempt to "self-love" in a positive and "changed" way.
For starters, the beauty that I see in others -- I will see in myself. The kindness and consideration that I extend to others -- I will extend to myself. The positive light & energy that I wish for others -- I will pray for myself as well."

when you think about this topic at first your like "oh this will be easy" and then you go to start typing and its not easy at all, so here is what ive come up with!

I love my sense of humor
I love my imagination
I love that im not perfect
I love my creativity (even though I don't know how to express it yet!)
I love my ability to push myself harder each week
I love that ive actually stuck with my workouts
I love that im willing to keep restarting on my diet when I fail at it
I love that im becoming me and not hiding who I am
I love that I have independence again
I love that im caring and giving
I love that people know they can trust me and come to me for advice

but what im ready and so looking forward too is loving the way I look, and that's my goal. I don't really care what the scale says but I want to be able to look at myself and say "dammmmn your looking good today!)

I love my sense of humor

I love that I am creative
I love that I enjoy learning
I love that I can do things that just a few short months ago I couldn't
I love that I am a good friend
I love that I am stronger than I realized
I love my eyes
I love this new confidence I found with myself
I love that I look in the mirror and like what I see
I love that my hard work is paying off

I love that I am embracing a new life
I love that I am discovering new and exciting things

Oh good topic! I need to practice writing and remembering what I love about me.... it's not often if at all that I think about myself in this way, so let me look deep deep inside lol.....
I love my sense of humor ( I think I'm funny! lol)
I love my kindness and love of people
I love that I can forgive fast
I love .... gee! This is hard! I feel funny having to think of why I love me. I think I'd rather just state that I am learning what makes me love me. It's part of my journey.

I'm doing this because I LOVE ME!

Friendly, funny and working on the fit part, join me?

When all else fails, laugh!

Because working out and pushing past the pain and excuses is my new drug!

Thanks to the first three of you who were courageous enough to jump in and write before others! I was inspired by your posts. You will each find a little Spark gift from me on your Spark page. I am busy finishing up at work and packing to get out of town early tomorrow for a long 4th of July weekend. I plan to write something when I return.

Hmmm...

What I love about myself:
-I love that I'm a very compassionate person.
-I love that I'm friendly to everyone and smile often.
-I love that I am a patient person.
-I love that I have a large amount of common sense.
-I love that I am at least a little bit creative and artsy.
-I love that I am the mother of my children.
-I love my dark brown eyes.
-I love that right now all 10 of my fingernails are long and pretty, which isn't usual for me.
-I love my many silver stands of hair. They are growing in like natural silver highlights.
-I love that I am 50 years old.
-I love that I'm a forgiving person.
-I love that the older I get, the more myself I can be because I no longer am worried about what others think.
-I love that I am the wife of my husband and that we still have a strong, loving, committed marriage ... 29 years now, and counting.
-I love my handwriting.
-I love that I have somewhat of a quirky personality.
-I love that I CAN cook, even though I really don't like to most of the time.
-I love that no matter how many times I seem to fail at my efforts of losing weight and establishing healthy habits... I never give up.
-I love that I am a Christian.

wow, this is a tough one lol but ill give it I try. I love that I am a kind person. I forgive easily, I try to be nice to everyone, and I try to smile at everyone I see. I have a huge caring heart. I pray for and worry about people who are less fortunate than me. I have compassion for wanting to help the less fortunate people and have helped a couple of them. I would give you the shirt off my back if you asked me to or if I thought you needed it. That is all i can think of at this time lol.

I love the fact that I found it in my heart to forgive everyone in my life who has hurt me and done me wrong. To constantly keep trying in my goals and even when I get knocked down I get back up.

I will create my blog Sunday evening! Upon returning from out of town. emoticon
Will have my blog up no later than Tuesday! Wasn't able to post it Sunday.

I felt inspired by this idea my Spark friend did with her team. I think our team could have fun doing this same practice:

Most of us understand what it means to love another person. The feelings of intense desire, admiration and emotional investment in another person are likely familiar. We go through great lengths to nurture our love towards others. But loving yourself? That can feel like a foreign concept to many of us. Self-love is a combination of self-acceptance, self-possession (different than self-obsession), self-awareness, and kindness and respect for ourselves. Self-love is both conceptual, an idea that you are worthy of self respect and gentleness, and an action, treating yourself with compassion and nurturance.

Have fun.
