@TRIMMAMA2

Thank you so much for sharing. The carbs and sugar are my Kyptronite! When I start taking in too much of this I always have a set back with my diet. I'm extremely strict with this now extremely modest.

Before joining Spark, I weighed 320 lbs. I managed to lose 40 lbs on my own by doing the following:

1. Started using smaller plates
2. Started eating more protein
3. Started eating less carbs and sugar
4. Started drinking water only
5. Started exercising, mainly walking

When I joined Spark, I weighed 280 lbs. I'm down to 239 lbs now and still losing!

I still do all of the above, but I've added green smoothies, lots of veggies, even more protein and some fruits to my diet. Exercise now includes going to the gym 3x's a week and some weight lifting.

Also, maintaining a positive attitude and finding laughter and joy in the little things helps!
Remember, it's okay not to have a perfect day, just keep believing that the next one will be better!

Plan:
Move my body (15 mins per day, 6 days per week)
Eat my freggies (2 to 4 svgs per day)
Drink my H2O (64 oz per day)

Substituting protein drinks and smoothies for breakfast and lunch. Really helps in cutting down calories.

Body for Life is what helped me the most in 2006 - 2008. I was able to lose 40 pounds and have continued to keep that off. I just need to lose another 40.

I changed one small thing each week until that small thing was "normal" and then moved onto the next thing. That is how I was able to maintain this weight off.

1. I don't eat from the chip bag ever. Even when I'm not "On a Diet" I portion everything out. Sure, I may come back for 2nds, not often since I'm lazy, but this way I know exactly what I'm eating.

2. When I eat cookies, I only eat one serving at a time. It goes with #1 to make me realize what I'm eating.

3. I bought a food scale. For about 6 months I weighed every single thing. Now I can fill a snack bag for lunch with the perfect serving size (+/- 2 pretzel sticks) by sight.

4. I changed all my plates and bowls in 2006 to small holiday plates. This helped me understand proportions. These "SMALL" holiday plates (snowflakes at K-mart on super sale) are actually regular size plates. Unlike the big 10 inch ones I did have. And the bowls hold only one serving of cereal. With these I can see exactly what a serving size is.

5. I wear a pedometer all the time. Even on the days I don't expect to move. This keeps me accountable and I'm motivated to go those extra steps to finish the day at 10,000.

I feel the Pedometer and the scale are the 2 pieces of equipment that has kept the first 40 pounds off. Now I'm struggling with the next 40. I feel the novelty of Body For Life wore off. I'm trying Core De Force now.

Good Morning,

***This post is for anytime in your life when you successfully lost weight*** emoticon

My Successful tips:

#1 Setting a calorie range for myself not to exceed; for instance setting a 1400 calorie range diet per day and not skipping any meals helps me greatly. Notating everything I eat daily so I can stay on top of my calorie intake.

#2 EXERCISE, EXERCISE, emoticon there is no getting around this. I like to aim for 60 minutes a day; however if your just starting at least 30 minutes five days a week. Now make sure those workouts count! I recommend strength training such as utilizing emoticon emoticon these types of weights for they add resistance. **Also do not eat your way out of your workout**

"Reminder" I believe that inches are just as good as weight lost! Personally I think people get caught up in the numbers and give up before they even gave it a fair shot.

#3 Water, water, water we must stay hydrated!

#4 Once a week I would enjoy something I really like; however workout like a beast on that day to stay within my calorie range.

When I became consistent with these goals I started to see changes within my physical abilities and endurance. During this time my weight would go up down and all around emoticon but I knew I was doing the right things. Once I hit the second month close to the third the numbers on the scale started to drop consistently. So patience IS VERY IMPORTANT!

These are some tips that are helping me! I would love to hear what has helped you! I believe by sharing we can become stronger and more successful in reaching our goals! For knowledge is Power! emoticon
