GREAT idea!
What I'll do is write it on two index cards, then put one in the top of my lunch box, because I eat half my food away from home, and the other one on top of my oatmeal bowl when I set it out for the next morning.
Thanks for the suggestion!

emoticon I printed it out and then cut it to fit an index card! I keep it in the kitchen.

I'm having HELL remembering the prayer before I eat! =(
How are you making yourself remember it?

I love my meal plans for this month--I''m eating basically the same thing everyday except different fruits and veggies each day, but the same basic meal structure. It makes it a lot easier to me.

Wow, that is a powerful Hindu prayer (I'm going to use it).

I'm glad we are repeating April's challenge because I finally feel like myself and being able to participate more. I just got back from grocery shopping, I had outlined meals for the next 3 days, and I will outline the rest of the week after that.

emoticon I can feel this month will see changes for all of us!
(Way to go Tess on your own strategy for meals this past month!)

and, Reina, you are on FIRE!! for your vacation :)

This month's challenge was suppose to be a really big step in getting controlling our emotional eating but I did so poorly on the April challenge that I don't think I'm able to do this second step because it really builds off the first one.

Since the only really active members are Tess, Spartaa, and me--and both me and Spartaa want to repeat the challenge, but how do you feel about that, Tess? I know you've been planning meals for a few weeks, but if you don't care, we'll just do our April challenge again.

Except I want to add one thing to it: Before you actually eat, say a meal prayer or a writing that reminds you to nourish and nurture yourself, instead of treating yourself like a garbage can. I am going to use a Hindu meal prayer that I love,

but you can use anything that works for You.

And as we had planned to do in April, the goal is to plan meals ahead of time, within your calorie range, and stick to the plan you make. This month (May) lets really try to get consistent with this, because the second step builds on it.

I just cleaned out the fridge and pantry to start April's challenge over.

Will we have a May challenge?

My hubby and i planned out our meals for 2 weeks at a time for a couple months...boy did it ever help the budget...we need to get back on track with it so as to help save money and spend less at the store. We only planned about 10 dinner menus for the 2 weeks as some nights you need to eat and clean up the leftovers, and sometimes we ate lefftovers more than we planned and had 2-3 meals left to make for the coming 2 weeks...meal planning can be awesome, it also helps with planning your shopping trip and coupons...makes a huge difference...and when you have the little extra money left, you feel good about your financial outlook and that is a HUGE plus for most of us these days!

Brightest Blessings!
Tes

Well April is half over. This challenge hasn't helped me all that much but I'm thinking next month's challenge will. It's going to be
1) Say a meal prayer every time you eat that reminds you that your greatest and most important asset is your body, and that what you put into it matters!
2) Begin a journal that tells WHY you are eating, before you eat. Just to help us be more aware of emotional eating and hunger signals.
Hopefully in May we can start getting a handle on the emotional eating.

oh, I haven't planned any meals - I just make it up as I go and eat it.
BUT, I what I CAN do is write down what I have in the fridge and cupboard, and from that base, I can put together a rough idea of what to eat that day ...as long as I have protein - green vegie - rice/ sweet potato, and fruit/nuts smoothie. I have been eating a lot of protein bars like they are candy bars - and I know this is a weakness and emotional/sugar eating.

So far I have tracked every single day. I've done BETTER with the planning but not as good as I had hoped. But at least I'm really getting the tracking down. Also I am eating a LOT more veggies and fruits!

Hm.. well, this wasn't what I expected for a challenge on self-love. I'm not sure I am ready or want to do planning of meals in advance, honestly. Well, I'll think on it.

You are worth having a healthy body!

This is a lifestyle change to be healthy, not a diet and not a sprint to get there.. one day at a time, one pound at a time.. as long as it takes, starting again as often as possible.

This first month's challenge is to help us just get started taking control of our (emotional) eating patterns. For April, all we are going to do is plan our meals ahead, and then follow the plan. We can do this planning in the tracker, so we'll all be tracking our nutrition and by the end of April we should have really mastered it!

For this challenge, you will need to plan your nutrition ahead and follow the plan, 8 days out of 10 (80% of the time). So by the end of April, you should have 24 successful days of planning/following, with the potential of taking 6 days "off" (or not following your plan!).

You can track on this thread, just copy and paste the "template" so that we don't have so many posts that we can't find our own--then every day you can edit it to update it for that day. =)
