Today is the final day in the 12 week challenge. I did not make my primary weight loss goal. A few weeks back, I adjusted my goal to not ending up with more weight than I started. I lost as much as 7 pounds during the challenge but my final loss is 2 pounds. I once had a WW leader who said the only important weight numbers were the ones that stayed off. I am happy to accept the 2 pounds gone forever. I will be doing the next round of BLC 18 that will start in January. Returnees have had an opportunity to register and registration for new team mebers will be announced shortly. I will send a team email as soon as I am notified.

As we approach the Christmas season loaded with traditions that revolve around food, parties and even gifts of food, we will need to be watchful of what we eat. I have fallen down on exercise but I know that I don't lose or sustain lost without exercise. Will you include fitness appointments in your holiday schedule? Planning is going to be key to making it through to January 2, 2012!

Make a plan and stick to it. Thanksgiving is tomorrow and you can do it! Strive to limit your portion size and if you are going to various places only graze and if needed take a plate home.

No pressure! Drink lots of water and eat the veggies first. Most of all have a blessed and happy day with your family.

Find the foods that make you feel full. There is no easy way to lose weight, but you can plan your meals in advance. What makes you feel full?

Adrienne - I go out with friends, especially on Sunday after church and that's all everybody wants - all you can eat buffets. I got into the habit of having my first round of salad food. Filling my plate with salad, cottage cheese (I love it) and fruit. Even at the chinese buffets there is usually a great salad bar. At regular restaurants my next round -- if I have one -- I go for all the veggies I can get on my plate and usually baked chik, turkey or 1 piece of whatever meat I choose. At oriental I usually get all the shrimp cocktail shrimp I want and the broccoli out of beef or chicken broccoli (I don't like the beef), also they have dishes have have a lot of cabbage & broc in them, I stick with those. I totally leave the fried stuff alone -- no egg rolls, wings, general tsao, sweet & sour.

The reality is if you go for the salad stuff the first time and relax in conversation, etc. and give yourself a little time between servings, you usually won't want seconds. If you want them, then consider how hard you're working to loose weight and get healthy and choose wisely.

Hi Ladies, I've been M.I.A. for a few weeks and I just caught up on the posts. Yes I am in the restart mode myself. I'm in my 4th week of Jenny Craig and so far I'm down 7 pounds. My fourth weigh in is on Saturday. I am really having a hard time working out. I used to go in the mornings but since it's so dark now I haven't gone. I've been trying to get at least three days in after work but life gets in the way sometimes and I don't make my goal. I guess I'll have to start getting up in the mornings again and just work out at home and try not to wake everyone up with the shaking floors LOL

I'm just so sick of talking about my weight, being over weight and feeling like it's never going to go anywhere. I see other women that have lost a large amount of weigth (I have about 70 to lose) and I'm like wow but can't picture myself losing it... I think that is where my problem lies, I need to picture myself without the weight, it's only been on a few years but it seems soooo hard to get off... UGH

@Ladilynne...I bought a huge cup from Walmart ($5)..it's called Bubba and it holds 52 oz...it really helps me get my water in...lol

@Adrienne433...I don't like Chinese food but I believe is an article on Spark that will give out pointers about eating out in buffet types of places...you might want to do a search...or I'm sure someone else will have some advice for you! emoticon

The easiest way for me to get in my water was to get a large bottle-mine are all 32 oz or above. I have one at work, one in the car and a few at home. In the morning, my goal is to get in 2-3 of those BEFORE I go to work at 4:00 pm and get in 1 more AT work. On most days, by noon I've had 8-10 glasses already.

Another way is to drink 2-3 glasses first thing in the morning. It usually kicks me into a bathroom run. Then everytime I go to the bathroom, I immediately drink another glass of water.

I use to struggle with getting my water to but I just made an effort (well I put in on my calendar in my phone) to drink a cup an hour from the time I woke up until I went to bed....that would be more than 8 cups but you can adjust it as needed....now I drink over 10 cups a day with ease...

I'll be writing a letter to myself to plot out the rest of my year...I'm doing bootcamp and need to do something before 2012 to get the scale moving downward!!!!

Hey gang, sorry I've been MIA since my father died. It's taken me a while to get it back in gear, but I've GOT TO GET MORE OF THIS WEIGHT OFFFFFFFF BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR.

Stacy I'm like you in the 230-250 range for the last few months and I was determined to be at or below 200 by the end of the year. Still possible, but this is the time of year EVERYBODY is cooking BAD BAD BAD BAD GOODIES! emoticon

I haven't been cooking much, haven't been planning my meals, NOTHING! I haven't been too far out there, but soup and salads all the time isn't nutritional eating.

Let's make a plan and keep it for the rest of the year. YES WE CAN!

Mustang raises an excellent point about making a game plan... Halloween was not bad for me because we do not celebrate it so I didn't have any candy in my home. My nephew brought home candy from a party and I only took 2 pieces. My game plan for Thanksgiving and Christmas is to enjoy only one day of each. Usually I will over eat two or three days after a holiday. This year I will eat what I want once on the holiday and get back on track the next day.

I am determined to end the year on a healthier note than where I am now. I would like to be at least 230 and moving downward. I have about 15 more pounds to go.

Well Ladies, we are in the season. The best defense for our seasonal woes is PLANNING. Beginning with Halloween (all that candy) and ending with the new year we an flooded with food. There are social events, family events and even business events that all revolve around eating and drinking in the name of being merry. Since most of us will not choose to retreat from life, we need a game plan for getting through the season without having our goal of getting healthy sidelined. Did Halloween present any problems for you? If so, what helped you put it behind you? What plans will you make to get through the rest of the season? Let's talk about it.

MsBTERFLY!! Great job of restarting! I think I restarted too... I relized that as winter comes I lose energy. I usually do not take diet pills or anything, but I needd something to boost my energy. So I started the Acai pills for fat burning and energy. I'll let you know how it goes.

So far I've been cleaning and have energy... The max recommended time is 10 days so I am greatful that I am getting a new start.

It is raining in south Florida today and is supposed to continue until Monday. I have been slacking on the exercise and need to either go back to the gym and take it slow or do the chair exercises at least 4 days a week. Temeka, portion control is at the center of my problem. If it is something that I like, I eat what was served and then want some more. the portions in restaurants are entirely too big. I watch some of my skinny friends and see how they handle portions It usually means I end up with a take out box. Surprising, when I do eat half, I am satisfied.

Thanks Cassie! I am seeing that what I thought was a normal portion was waaay too much... Man where is a personal chef when you need one???

So I decided to try a new workout by Chris Freytag (I love her workouts) called Extreme Abs it's a 40 minute workout for the abs and I thew my back out again UGH so I have not been able to work out for the last three days. I'm going to try to get some walking in today if the rain ever stops... I need to do some regular crunches and sit ups to get my abs stronger so I'm not using my back muscles so much...

Well I tried something new and joined Jenny Craig. I need obvious help and WW just gives me too much lead way to not eat right. JC is expensive but so far I'm seeing results, I'm down four pounds since I started on Sunday so I guess I am just full of water! The food is good and I can see myself sticking with it for the long haul.

I probably won't make my goal for this challenge but I'm going to hopefully get close!!!

During the last months of the year our bodies want to hibernate! We can not go into hibernation and store fat for the winter. We have got to fight. So take one for the team. Meaning Stay on track 6 days out of the week reward your self on only 1 day. If you blow it, get back up.

Don't stay down.... find your inner strength and get up!

Temeka,
Sorry your scale is going the wrong way. Have you thought about getting your thiroid checked? Also have you been drinking more water but it seems not to leave your quickly? These are some signs that you may be retaining water. I take water pills and I found out because I was trying to lose weight by drinking more water but I was not using the bathroom. I know they sell some over the counter but consider speaking to your doctor. *Hugs*

I'm so upset today I feel like crying. I had another weight gain today, 2 pounds more than last week. This now makes me 15 pounds heavier than I was when I started this journey back in August... How is this even possible? I am more aware of what I'm eating, I work out at least 3 days a week but most weeks it's 4 days. So how can I have gained 15 pounds??? It's so frustrating. I understand that the scale is not the only way to monitor your weight loss but at the same time a 15 pound gain is just frustrating when I have been trying. Even if I eat a little more sometimes it's still a lot less than I was eating prior to August before I started this, and I wasn't even exercising back then but my weight had remained the same for months, no gain no loss...

After getting on the scale this morning I wanted to revise my letter, lol. Then I did my measurements and felt like I am not doing as poorly as the scale suggests. The scale is a fickle, fiendish friend. I had banned scales from my home for many years. I finally purchased one two years ago because I needed it for a challenge. I really think I need to ban this one. If I see a loss, I am elated. Let the darn thing say I've gained and I am depressed and ready to eat the house. My scale is making me crazy. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Donna: Glad to see you back on the thread. I know that things have been difficult for you lately. Has your daughter had her baby yet?

I love the idea of writing myself a letter! It is soo helpful. I learned that when I was going thru some really tough times in my life. Putting it all on paper and saying to myself and letting it all out -- especially stuff I would NEVER say to anyone else. I AM ON THE VEGGIES! emoticon

Cassie that's a great idea!!! I think I'm more motivated now than I was in the beginning, six weeks should still be enough time for me to reach my goal for this challenge. I'm pumped and ready :)

Hi WOC,

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. We are at the half-way point in our challenge. Are you as motivated as you were at the beginning of the challenge. What success have you had that is not tied to the scale? What do you want to accomplish in the next six weeks? Write yourself a letter of congratulations for the goals that you are going to reach in the next six weeks. Plan for and describe the reward you will give yourself when you have achieved this mini goal. You can give the letter to a friend or family member to mail a few days before the end of the challenge or put the letter away and open it on the last weigh-in Wednesday.

Cook-- do you find WW meetings to be helpful? I joined WW online a while ago and after my first three months I canceled my membership because I felt it was no different than what I got from Spark. But I wonder if going to actual meetings would be more helpful?

Good morning ladies!

My weigh in this morning was exactly the same as it was last week :(

QOTD; (Question of the Day) What do you do to get back on track after a slip off the wagon?
AOTD: Once I realize I have fallen off the wagon I start reading articles on spark people, I check out the success stories and the motivational blogs. This usually gets my mind back into the game.

Yes you can Cookie. I don't like to over think what goes on with me, but I've posted a loss for the second week in a row! I have been really paying attention to what I'm eating because my fitness is not at the level it used to be, but I'm working on that too. WOC, what are the rest of ou working on? Hope today's weigh in goes well, will chat later?

Good morning WOC,
Hope everyone is well and moving forward. Did you realize that next week is the half way point for this challenge? Are you close to your goal? There are days that I would like to adjust my goal because I fear that I won't make it. But I have to stop and ask myself, is it the number that is important or the effort and consistency that I am putting into practice? So for the next two weeks let's step up our consisency, doing the things that we know bring the results we want: Stay within our calorie range, drink water, get some movement in daily, find ways to reduce the stress in our lives, stay on Sparkpeople.com.

Good morning Ladies!!! Happy Friday Eve emoticon

Looks like my toddler (or husband) got hold of my tape measure because I can't find it. So I will have to pick up another one in order to measure myself. Maybe this weekend.

Well I am back on the wagon now and feeling like I have a handle on things. I redid my spark goals and have been reading some articles and blogs to get my spirits back up. I still feel like I can make my goals for this challenge but I need to stay away from the scale for a while so I will only weigh myself every other week.

I keep forgetting to drink the vinegar. I will one day then the next I won't. I also read that if you mix it with hot water and honey that will help with weight loss. So I need to buy some honey.
I haven't worked out this last week so my update will not be good, I will get back on the wagon tomorrow. I have also been slipping on bringing my lunch to work, will get that together for tomorrow as well...

I meant to buy some apple cider vinegar this weekend and forgot. Now I am going to wait until I a finished with the medication the doctor gave me for the sciaticia. The pain is not gone but it is not as intense. I have moments when I can walk standing straight. I am going to continue with the chair exercises until the doctor gives me clearance to go back to the gym. And as soon as I am able, Zumba.

Stacy, I'm so glad you posted about apple cider vinegar -- it's great and it does work! Thanks for the link as well!

I LIKE THOSE NUMBERS ON WEIGHT LOSS -- SHALL WE TRY THE CICO ANOTHER WEEK?

Ladies sorry I've kinda been MIA -- my father has been in hospice for the last week and he passed this morning. Keep my family in your prayers. My participation this week may be a little spotty but I'm taking my laptop with me -- so I'll check in from time to time.

Luv you WOCU!!! emoticon

Temeka,
It helps speed weight loss because it cleanses and reduces your appetite. I use regular vinegar because I am allergic to apples but my sister says that apple is better for her.

Vinegar has LOTS of benefits, here's a link http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/3

Thanks Ladies, I have actually be losing inches but still confused as to why I'm gaining pounds... oh well...

C- what does vinegar do? Does it have to be regular or can I use the apple cider vinegar? All I drink is water though or green tea without any sweetener added. I don't like pop or fruit juice just makes me more thirsty LOL I will have a drink or two on the weekends but 98% of the time when I drink something it's water.

Have a great day ladies :)

Hi all,
I have been around but not posting, preoccupied with my pain. Good news, the last two days I have been doing chair aerobics from you tube. I also ordered a set of dvd's of chair exercises. I am still waiting to get into the doctor's office that was recommended to me. I was starting to feel desperate about no fitness when I am still struggling with portion control.

Temeka, if you are exercising and eating well, you may not see a weight loss. Muscle weighs more than fat, so you may be losing fat, and gaining muscle. But as Cyipra said, check your inches, muscle is sleeker than fat.

Didn't do this weekend's challenge, had my plate full with CCC's Nourish challenge. Hope for loses all around tomorrow,

I'm behind too... not to worry I will update the scores tomorrow...

Hey Temeka - Try taking your measurements. Sometimes we lose inches before we lose weight. I would also recommend drinking more water and maybe adding in some lemon juice with water. You may also try vinegar once a day. Either way one of those will give your body an extra boost.

Good morning Ladies! Well it's Monday and my scale went up again. Not sure why though, I look smaller and people ask me if I'm losing weight so why is the scale going up??? Soooo frustrating.

That new challenge is really confusing to me, I'll have to re-read it a few times LOL

Alright ladies, I just posted a new challenge for the week and I'm excited! We've done this CICO challenge before and if you're having trouble finding your "BALANCE" with eating/fitness, this is the challenge for you. I did this yesterday and today and here is how I did:

FRI - SAT
1396 - 1424- Calories In
1812 - 4481 - Sodium
2861 - 3441 - Potassium
1550 - 1117 - Calories Out
POINTS
30 pt - 30 pt - Calorie Range
20 pt - 0 - Sodium
10 pt - 10 pt - Potassium
20 - 15 - Calories Out
0 - 20 - Posting

Daily Total FRI 80 pts SAT 75 pts

This challenge takes a little bit of work to get in the habit -- but if you do it for a week, I think you'll be surprised not only with the results, but you'll be amazed at the amount of sodium in your daily food.

Donna: Great idea about prepping veggies for the week. Sometimes a small tweak makes a world of difference. I have start to take my breakfast items and full week's lunch into work on Monday. That way I am not running out forgetting things. If I could just get rid of this pain in my hip and leg I could really get back to regular fitness and see some progress towards y goal.

I've got my plan in motion C! Sorry I didn't post my weight on Wed. been a bit distracted by my dad. But my plan is still to be below 200 lbs by the end of the year. Temeka I wouldn't lower my exercise I'd increase my nutrition -- with GOOD calories. Up your freggie (fruit & veggie) intake. The best way to do that is to PLAN for it. I go to the store and buy what I need for the week. Soon as I get home I was my fruit & veggies, chop or divide them up into servings and put them in snack-size zip loc bags or my mini-plastic containers. That way when I need it -- even on the run -- I can grab what I need and stay in range.

Many experts also recommend eating every 4 hours. That DOES NOT mean a full meal. But if your stomach is not empty it keeps you from binge eating later.

My problem is getting in enough exercise to meet with my nutrition. I've been steppin' up my exercise minutes this week.

Cyipra I'm trying to plan for success. Not sure why my weight is not reflecting my efforts... I read online last night that it takes at least 8 weeks for your body to adjust to a weight loss program and you should give it 12 weeks especially if you're over 30... I'm just frustrated but I'm going to keep at it and hope for the best at the end of the challenge.

Going to try something a little different this next week and lower my work out minutes, I don't think I'm eating enough for the amount of calories I'm burning and that might be hurting me...

QOTD: Are you looking ahead to next week? My TOM is suppose to be here on Thursday and my jeans are getting tight already due to bloating. I hope the scales do not rebel too much. At least I'll be down some next Wednesday.

Are you planning for success? I am planning for success and will get there one pound at a time.

On everyone's fitness minutes let me just say WOW! I thought I was really gettin' it when I was doing 60 minutes a day. This weekend we had a challenge to do about 100 minutes, I thought I'd just do what I could, but I broke it into two sessions AND I DID IT! Got this 56 yr-old but in gear! Now today, I feel EVERY MINUTE of my workouts! Now my goal is to try to come close to the same level nearly every day. PEACE OUT!

I LOVED the 70s! This should be a fun trip. I'm gonna try for 70 servings of FREGGIES (fruit/veggies). I thought I was really going at it this last week and I lost 1 lb. but this week I'm shooting for 5 lbs. - If I add this challenge to my fitness/nutrition challenge I already have for the week I should get close!

Cassie, I feel you. Sometimes it's just hard to pull it all together. Even though my body wants to stay in bed (I get home at 1 am) I've been dragging my a@@ out of the bed by 9 am to get in my workout. It's a drag -- but I'm determined to be below 200 lbs by the end of this year.

- PEACE OUT!

We will title this week the 70s week. So we will be doing 70/70/70. That's 70 squats, 70 crunches and 70 pushups for at least 5 out of 7 days. These can be done ANY STYLE. . You will earn 5 points for each area you complete up to 15 points daily.

If you have an injury preventing you from doing any of the 3 exercises, you can double up on one of the other movements and complete 140/70. Keep in mind that you don't have to do this all at once.. you can do 20 here and 20 there throughout the day..just as long as you complete 70 in each area.

Also strive to drink 70 oz's of water per day!!!

List your results under the tracking thread as Weekly challenge. If you wish, you can update your score daily.

Questions? Ask!

Mustang- you will get in the habit, just set schedules for yourself and stick to them like any other appointment you have.

So I weighed in this morning and I gained 6 ounces... This SUCKS I have been working out and watching what I eat. I'm thinking it was all those hot dogs I had at the picnic on Sunday. But I guess 6 ounces shouldn't be that hard to work off... Better luck next week.

Really thought I was doing well this week only to post a gain. I need to be more careful about what combinations of foods I am eating and watch the portions on carbohydrates. My exercise is not a habit yet and life has just conspired to keep me a bit off balance in that department. I have to get to the point where I will exercise at home if I can't make it to the gym. I have equipment, dvd's, tapes, a wii. What is the problem?

Just jumping in the challenge. Did cardio today and have been using my pedometer to track my steps/mileage when I walk/run. Thanks for the motivation for today about treating it as a Biggest Loser "last chance workout" - love that! :-)

Good morning Ladies.

LL-- I have the opposite habit. I track my fitness daily but I fall short of tracking my nutrition. Mainly because I hate having to add new foods to my tracker and since I cook most of my meals it's a hassle to log all the ingredients to figure out the calories in one serving...

Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday.

My challenge to me this week is to use both my fitness and nutrition trackers. I get the nutrition done most days cause I can update it using my cell while I'm at work. But I never seem to update the fitness part. I keep a calendar/log and then transfer it all at one time. But I know that if I use my fitness tracker each day it will also tell me the amount of calories I'm burning. WE ALL KNOW THAT IF I'M NOT BURNING IN PROPORTION TO HOW MUCH I'M EATING THIS IS NOT A WORTHY CAUSE! emoticon

I also decided to do my Last Chance Workouts Mon & Tues. (working out like a maniac to burn extra calories before weigh in) On Tues I plan to become a river - I usually drink 8 - 12 glasses of water - I'm gonna OD on water to flush my system out. I was reviewing what I did that helped with my weight loss and was something I could continue to do. I did that at the first of the year with a challenge and had positive results every week. Start out the morning with my water jug (7 glasses) and drink it as fast as I can, then everytime I go to the bathroom, I drink another glass. CAUTION: I have to stop drinking about 7 pm or I'm up all night!

Water has soooo many positive effects just a few are flushing out toxins, helping our muscles especially for exercise, wakes you up better than coffee (although coffee gives you that JOLT), helps your digestion, etc.

Alright, gotta do part 2 of my workout! C less of you tomorrow!

Morning ladies. Just checking in. I am going to watch my carb intake today and will have a big salad for lunch to get some veggies in. Had a bad carb day yesterday, grits for breakfast and I went to a picnic and ate three hot dogs with regular buns, not good at all.

I too, went to church today -- no exercise. I felt so much like a slug by 8 pm that I decided biking was doable then I got a little crazy and did some ST too! emoticon

I REALLY AM PUSHING FOR THAT 30 LBS!

This week we want to TOTALLY CHALLENGE YOU! New Game for points.

From initial feedback chatter, it looks like some of us are having eating problems. This week's challenge Mon-Fri is how many servings of fruit/veggies we can eat daily for points.

Minimum 5 servings = 1 pt
6-7= 2 pts.
8-9=3
10=4 pts
11+= 5 pts
Total max for week 25 pts.

We can mate that with daily exercise -
30 Min = 5 pts
60 Min = 10 pts
75+ Min = 15 pts
Total max for week 75 points.

So if a person hits max on fruit/veggies and exercise they'll have 100 pts for week (MON - FRI) I will send a copy of the fruit/veggie chart as a separate email - print it if you can, you will need it again!

WATER! WATER! WATER! AT LEAST 8 GLASSES! WATER! WATER! WATER!

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Don't forget to post here daily or keep track in the SP nutrition tracker, then post it here on Friday. It's more fun to post it here daily so I CAN BRAG ABOUT ALL MY VEGGIES! emoticon

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Feeling yesterday's strength training in my arms. Didn't work out at all today. Went to church, it was very emotional as we paid tribute to police, fire and emergency workers both from 9/11/01 and those still working emergency services today. We have a small beam from the World Trade center that was dedicated this morning. Several first responders to the world trade center were at the service as well as survivors of some of those loss on 9.11.01. Very emotional service. I had to come home and take a nap, I was wiped out.

Up and at um for Saturday morning! Been to choir practice and got my workout in already!

I don't have sweet or carb problems but my biggest cravings are always salty. My trick on me was to slowly ween myself from Lays potato chips & cheetoes. I started buying the kids lunch size (3/$1 at Dollar General) and found that having a small bag was enough -- if I opened a family-size bag I'd eat 'til I felt sick.

For the sweet cravings -- not often -- I buy the mini-candybars (6-8 per bag) and put them in the freezer. When I REALLY want something sweet - I eat one. I promise myself that in 30 minutes if I want another one I can have it -- I never have to go back.

Your empty nutrition eating is kicking all your good exercise in the butt! For 1 week try putting canteloup/strawberries/cherries/grapes in containers or ziplock bags in the fridge. I measure them into servings and stack them together. When it's time to eat or I JUST WANT SOMETHING I grab one or two. IT'S GREAT AND GREAT FOR YOU. I do my veggies the same way. Once they are all washed, chopped and bagged, meals are a snap. On my way to work -- grab what I need and toss it into my lunch bag. Dinner at home? Create a stir fry in under 10 minutes!

I try to NOT keep my problem eating foods in the house. If I HAVE to make a trip to get it, it usually is not worth the effort. Water is also your friend. I've moved my daily intake up to 10-12 glasses a day. That's only 2 of my drinking jug.

My real challenge - I just DON'T GET ENOUGH EXERCISE! So for this 12-weeks I'm gonna try to double what I usually do. Instead of 30-40 minutes per day, I'm going for a minumum of 60 minutes - even if I have to break it into 2 sessions. I know I can bike for at least 30 minutes, then if I do strength or cardio a few hours later I should be goood to go!

IT WILL HELP US ALL IF WE USE OUR NUTRITION & FITNESS TRACKERS! It really helps you to know where your trouble is -- Eating (too many carbs or fats or not enough protein? FITNESS - not burning enough calories? Try it.

Good morning ladies emoticon

Got up and worked out this morning and feeling very proud since I didn't work out at the beginning of the week I had to work out Wed-Sat to get my four days in and I did it!!! Usually on Saturdays we go out for breakfast but today I grabbed a protein smoothie from Bally's on my way out and let hubby and daughter go out and eat.

Mrsrubble- maybe instead of eating sweets you can try to eat sweeter fruits like nectarines, grapes or watermelon? I don't really have a sweet tooth though so I'm not sure how easy that is. My thing is bread and butter and potatoes and bagels or anything with lots of carbs and I'm still trying to figure out how to cut back on that...

Let's try to stay on track this weekend ladies emoticon

Good morning ladies,
Made it to the gym this morning for treadmill and upper body strength training. I need to do some housework and open my braids and wash my hair.
Donna: Glad that we are both getting back into our fitness groove--I'm sure we will see results.
Temeka: Take care of your knees, mine put me out of commission for over 3 months at one time.
MrsRuble: If you cut out high sugar products for 3-5 days the physical craving goes away. The trick is to not pick them up again. The body processes nutrients differently. If you are within your calorie range but all the calories are empty, your body may still respond as if it is straving. Instead of eating pecan pie try a handful of nuts and some apple slices.

Good Morning ladies, I am ready for a change!!!!
My biggest issue, is what and what not to eat. I love sweets, and will easily sacrifice, fruit and veggies and even a meal, for a piece of pecan pie, or a moist slice of cake. I rarely go over my calorie intake, because I make these choices, however I think it's effecting my weight loss. I workout at least an hour a day, if not more, but even still my weight loss is very slow. So, I am hoping this challenge can get me on the right track to see some huge results by the end of the week. Love to know how you girls are fighting off the sweet tooth devil!

Good morning ladies. It's raining here today emoticon but I still feel great!!!

LL great job on getting back into your routine! I like the bike also but elliptical is my favorite machine. Today I switched it up and did the treadmill, did a very fast walk for 2 miles. Was going to run but got a little afraid of re-injuring my knee so I just walked... Still got in a great work out!

Got in my biking today for an hour - God it's hard to get back into my OLD routine. I used to go to the gym every morning. I started out with water aerobics and then settled into just going to the gym every morning for an hour or more. Since I bought my own bike, I've used it less than I did the one at the gym. Go figure!

My eating was right in line -- lots of veggies! Alright ladies I do feel better today!

I got up this morning, grabbed my gym bag and headed off to Planet fitness. When I had parked the car and went to get my things I realized that I did not have my garment bag with my clothes for work. I had to adjust my plans, only had time to do the treadmill because I had to go back home to shower and dress for work. I did learn that in a pinch I can go to the gym and return home. It waste time and gas so it is not my first choice.

Goodmorning ladies! Got up this morning and did my work out. I never thought I'd like to get up early and hit the gym but I find it very rewarding. This is my sixth week doing my 5 AM workouts and it really feels good. Now if I can just figure out how to stop eating so much I will start to see results...

Hope you all enjoy your day! emoticon

Hey Ladies! Weigh In this morning was a bummer - I didn't want to get back on the scales since I've been doing a truly crappy job of maintaining MY needs this summer. But I'm back on my schedule to try to eat at least 10 servings of fruit/veggies per day (I can get most of that eating a really good salad) and increasing my water to 10 glasses. It really curbs my appetite and slows my cravings -- since I'm seldom empty.

I'm gonna make my goal!

I'm in! I was confused with your email but looking at the tracker in the other thread I get it...
I just restarted my journey last month with consistent exercise for the last five weeks but no weight loss. My dr says it's because I incorporated weight training and my body has to adjust but I'm hoping to see the pounds come off this month!!!

My biggest challenge is eating, or actually eating the wrong things... I have challenged myself to learn to cook more healthy meals this month using some of the recipes here on Spark as well as from the millions of healthy living magazines I have stacked up at home.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone!!!

emoticon to the Fall 12-week Challenge for Women of Color Unite! I don't know about you all but this summer has been a bummer for my weight loss/healthy lifestyle changes.

My youngest daughter moved home to have her first baby (8th grandbaby), my job has had us strung out for 5 months over whether we'll continue to have jobs, by the end of next week I will have had my job schedule changed 5 times this year, my 96-year old father is in poor health and I'm in danger of pulling my last 3 strands of hair OUT! emoticon

So, I guess you know that means my weight went back UP instead of continuing it's downward journey. But in challenging you, I've got to step up to the plate! (OR AWAY FROM IT) Your team leaders are in this challenge to help you AND ourselves. If you have questions, this is the place for them. If we don't know the answers, we'll try to find them.

So take a moment each day and let us know how you're doing and vent a little on the "distractions" to our journey! C U TOMORROW!
