Well nothing new here...just did my weight in and I am still nothing lost nothing gained! Ok am happy about the nothing gained but have got to do something about that nothing lost.

Have now hit two goals! Over one year of not smoking and am below the 150lb mark! Just hit my third goal, under 140lbs! 03/27/09 hit the 50 pounds lost goal!

I'm on a plateau, too, have been hovering just over 150 for months. emoticon And to think I was at 146 myself just over a year ago. Even though my ultimate goal is 129, I'd be really happy just to get under 140.

Keep on keeping on!

Thank You Thank You and yes I did feel that way but now for some dang reason I have a plateau...and it is starting to "piss me off" excuse my french it is the truth. I hate this part of it and dang I still need to lose at least 10 lbs so I don't think I am asking that dang much. I am still doing all the things the same food wise and exerciser wise so now I have to mix it all up...heck that is a mess too!

Running a tad behind for the end of the month! Think I did ok with the fruits and vegs it was the adding something new in the excise mix that I didn't do as well at. Did try to either add more incline or go faster each time I got on the treadmill. emoticon

Wow! that is quite a hike. emoticon

I hear you on the ice chest -- it's always been hard for me to pack fresh fruit for a camping trip. I hope you were able to enjoy your time away. :)

* * *

I guess this marks the end of our challenge. I feel pretty good about keeping up with exercise but a little disappointed that I didn't my 5-a-day, especially when there are so many fruits in season right now. I know I need to keep consciously striving for that minimum amount of fruit & veggies.

How's everyone else been doing?

Hey everyone. We're back. I've not done as well with the fruits and veggies as I should(it's not easy when I prefer fresh and that's not easy in an ice chest!), but I did get plenty of exercise in. I did some rowing, some wood chopping, some fishing, and a 4 hour (7 mile) hike!

Just 4 fruit & veggies today: 2 srvgs green grapes, broccoli and a sweet potato

My only exercise was weight circuits.

Tomorrow is a new day!

Oh, have I been sore from repeating that Biggest Loser workout. I burned some calories but my muscles are still feeling it. I don't think I'm going to be able to do their high impact aerobics as my new video this week. Instead it'll have to be the Winsor Back Pilates I did today. I also had a 25 min walk this evening as an extra exercise.

Fruits and veggies, I haven't even added them up yet. Let's see I had a peach at breakfast, 1/2 cup peppers & onions added to my omelette at lunch, a greens drink plus corn and a sweet potato at dinner = 5 servings, just made it!

Hi there! emoticon

I still need to get a pedometer, I really want to see how many steps I'm getting in each day -- with and without exercise.

Today I've had 5-1/2 fruit & veggie servings. I did 20 min of Pilates, and 25 min of the low-aerobic Biggest Loser workout plus 15 min of warm-up and cool-down. Also, had a 25 min walk this evening just before it got dark.

Don't have my weight in until Monday but today I did really good 2 fruits so far and 4 vegs. Plus am still over 10,000 in my steps but have to admit that I did not do anything new in fitness today. Maybe tomorrow.

Have now hit two goals! Over one year of not smoking and am below the 150lb mark! Just hit my third goal, under 140lbs! 03/27/09 hit the 50 pounds lost goal!

Understand...I actually have moved my parents (both in their 80's) about a half a mile from me which means that all the Grandkids can see them anytime and we always so BIG family things. Last Thanksgiving was 38, and this Easter was 29. All of my grandparents have passed aways so now it is time for me to make it a part of my childerns life. Have a good trip. Enjoy and be safe.

Wow, having grandparents that close sounds wonderful -- what an ideal situation. :) Again though, I am very sorry for the loss of your grandfather as I realize he must've played a big part in your life. Thinking of your grandmother and parents, too.

* * *

Today I tried another new video, The Biggest Loser, which I borrowed from the library. I liked it much better than my last two recent ones. I did the low-aerobics workout and looking forward to trying out the rest of the exercises as well.

The above was my extra exercise for today. I also took a 50 min walk this morning, and will do my weight circuits this evening.

Fruits & veggies: 2 srvgs of cherries this morning, corn, potato & salad to be added to tonight's dinner.

I've got a boatload of memories. My parents have lived with or next door to my grandparents for the last 23 years. I did as well from the age of 7-18. They live in the West Valley so I'm not too far from them.

I'm still doing what I need to do to meet my goals. I'm not going to let myself get off track. I got in just 4 servings of fruits and veggies though yesterday. I just couldn't do better. I'll do about the same today. I did get 2 new videos in today. (SP's day 3 & 4 of the bootcamp series). Day 4 is a pretty good core workout that doesn't involve crunches. I went for my walk after completing it and I could feel those abs today!

Hubby and I decided we are going to leave as planned for our trip, as my grandmother has the funeral arranged for the 30th so that she can get as many of her grandchildren around her as possible (she's only going to have 3 missing, out of 21! and all 6 of her children live nearby so will be with her as well). We'll cut the trip short and return on Friday so we can be here for the viewing and funeral.

I got the fruits and veggies yesterday. Today will be a struggle to do 5. I'm having to force myself to eat today. It's been rough. My grandfather died early this morning. I didn't get my extra exercise or my videos in last night as my mother told me that it would be soon when I called her last evening to see how things were going. I did get my walk in this morning though. I let myself cry and be comforted for a bit (hubby is awesome), then went for my walk with tears on my face. I just needed (and still do) to be active. We'll see what tonight brings. We may or may not leave as planned Saturday. It just depends on the services. I'm not sure yet what the plans will be as we've got 2 in the family who are not in the US (My sister is in Iraq and I have a cousin who lives in Greece).

That's quite a haul especially with the boat but, of course, it'll be so wonderful when you're there. Been a couple of years since we've gone camping, and then only to Payson, maybe we'll have a chance this fall. And yes, with an air mattress or something! I can't do the ground stuff like I used to, besides many campgrounds now have tent pads that are all rocks.

* * *

~4 veggies & fruit yesterday
~swimming was my exercise (I don't think I've swam for a month but going earlier in the day was much nicer, just had to get over my concern of swimming alone - have to admit it was nice to have the whole pool to myself)

Yes, we'll still be in AZ - we're going to Knoll Lake. It's up on the rim about 25 miles past Woods Canyon. About a 6 hour drive since we'll be pulling the boat.

We're keeping up with our walking. I'm going to try to fit in a new video this evening, but I've got to air up the air matress and find & repair a leak. The air mattress is my one required comfort. I can sleep in a tent, I can go without a shower for 10 days, but I won't sleep on the hard ground. I've even learned to use a dutch oven to bake. DH's birthday is next week and we'll have pineapple upside down cake made in the dutch oven. YUM!

CLYNN, your mountain vacation sounds like it'll be a great trip, will you still be in AZ? There certainly are many places to camp here. I'm sure you'll enjoy a break from TV, computers and such.

RK has some more trips, too! Will the cruise ship have a gym? If not, I guess you can always walk around the deck. It can really help burn those calories if you can find the time to work it in.

Sunday had me off track with food, not enough veggies and bloated from too much spaghetti & meatball birthday dinner for my dd. Then there was cake afterwards, thank goodness she and I decided ice cream was not necessary. Only had 2.5 of fruit/veg yesterday, and I had to cut my 30 min aerobics workout to 20 because of poor timing but did get my 20 min Pilates in.

Today will be better. Think I'll get a walk this morning before it's 90°. And my cherries are over on the counter, so I'm gonna rinse them off and get some nourishment. Still hoping I can pull off a perfect week before this challenge is over.

Wow sounds like you will be getting a good workout during your vacation! Have a safe trip and lots of fun. We have a short weekend trip planned for mid September and then if all goes right we are going on a 7 day New England/Canada cruise the end of September. That will be the rough one for me!

Good to see you back RKSpicy - and Under 150 is fantastic! emoticon

I'm staying on track. Things will be interesting this week though. We leave on vacation Saturday. 10 days in the mountains, in a tent. It's our favorite vacation. We'll be doing some rowing, some hiking, and fishing. There's a lot to do before we leave so staying on target and meeting challenge goals will be difficult, but I'll make sure I get it done. I'll do 2 videos this week to make up for next week when there's no way I'll be near a TV... We have a battery powered radio that we use when we're playing cards in the afternoons, but that's all the technology we have when we're out... Our cell phones don't even get service in the campground!

Woohoo! You're really burning those calories. emoticon on the pound lost. :)

I've been doing good with my fruits & veggies, averaging 6 srvgs the last couple of days. Thursday I did a new video, Caribbean Workout. It was a fun one to do and a good workout but not explained very well. Many times the cameraman seemed focus on the top half of the bodies at the same moment they were introduced new legwork: how annoying! I think with time I can do better with it.

I'm off now for a walk before it hits 90s.

Today was a good one. Managed to get in all the fruits and veggies. I got a lot of exercise in today. 20 minute pilates video, Day 1 10 minute Bootcamp video, and for my new video Day 2 of the 10 minute bootcamp series. That plus 34 minutes of walking in the morning (17 min mile pace) and then 68 minutes this evening (19 min mile pace)... Burned 776 calories today. emoticon

I'd had a couple days of high calories with low exercise and today's exercise helped me get back to the balance that I wanted to have on my intake/expend schedule (I try to have an 800 cal deficit each day, for a 5600 cal cumulative total for the week).

Yeah, My brother being in town for 3 weeks has definitely upped the dose of family for me. We so rarely get to see him these days (he's military). This will be the last time we see him for 12 months as he's headed to Iraq for his 2nd tour there in 4 years once he returns to his base in WA....

I'm doing well though. I saw my first lb off for August this morning - I think that's what put me in the mood to do so much exercise today. My clothes are starting to get a bit too loose! Luckily I have a few things that I can wear that are a size smaller than what I had been wearing. I actually am fitting into a size 12 if the waist is a bit stretchy... I told my shopping buddies that we'll need a shopping trip in September if I keep loosing weight this way...

And yeah I wonder about RKspicy as well... I've seen her huddle in the last day or so but not post... Hope she's doing okay.

Finally met the minimum fruits & veggies, in fact, I had six servings.

Also, got in my extra exercise which was dancercise.

Tomorrow will probably be my last chance to get in a new video as Friday is my Accelerated Pilates and it will be impossible to do indoor exercises on Saturday with the whole family home.

So how are you doing? It seems you are getting a good dose of family lately, I hope you are enjoying that.

I wonder what RKSPICY is up to... We haven't seen her for a few days.

Met the fruits and veggies yesterday, but barely. We met my parents and the sibs that are here (missing 2 sibs, 2 inlaws, and my niece and nephew) for dinner last night and I didn't go with a meal that had a lot of fruit/veggies. I'll do a lot better today though.

I did another 34 minute walk this morning. I'm going to try to get my 20 minutes of pilates in tonight (along with a walk with the hubby). I need to get a new pedometer too... I can't find mine...

-3 srvgs of fruit so far (all watermelon) emoticon

It's such a great food to help cool you down which I really needed after walking at 95 degrees this morning. Did you all know that it helps your body get rid of excess water, too?

Still doing okay, I got in extra time today in my workout. I totally was off on the fruits/veggies over the weekend. Too much running around. The game was okay (they lost and there wasn't really much to see as far as great plays or hitting or anything like that).

The terminally ill coworker wasn't able to return to work. It was brain cancer and she wasn't able to do much of her normal work. She actually died on Saturday. I'd worked with her for a little over 3 years (I started working here the day after she did). It's tough, but it happens. We're having a bit of a hard time here today emotionally, but we'll get through it. Some of us are handling it better than others, and I think some of it has to do with how we took the news she had brain cancer - a few of us acknowledged a few months ago when we heard she had brain cancer that we would probably lose her within 3-6 months. We're handling it better than those that only in the last week or so realized that she was probably not going to make it.

I love having company but confess it does wear me out a bit, too. I'm sorry to hear about your coworker, that is a very difficult thing. Will he/she continue to work for now?

Hope you have a great time at the Diamondbacks game. emoticon Give 'em some cheers for me. :D

Gotta run for now...

Yeah, I was taking it easy for a few days. I think I was just a little worn down after having my brother staying at our house for a few days, plus having a stressful work situation (terminally ill coworker), so I was about to come down with something... I managed to kick it with a little rest and a LOT of water (14+ glasses for 2-3 days in a row)...

I met the fruits and veggies yesterday as planned. As long as I get at least 1 serving in tonight with dinner, I'll meet the 5 today as well.

I got in 34 minutes of walking (1 minute shy of 15 extra!) this morning plus 20 minutes of pilates. I actually pushed myself a bit this morning during the walk cuz I felt really good and did 2 miles in that 34 minutes. I had been doing about a 20-21 minute mile pace previously. No walk tonight - Hubby left for LA today to visit with his grandma and pick up some things as the rest of the family has been working to clear the remaining items out of her house (she's in a nursing home).

I'm going to the Dbacks game with a friend tonight, so I'll get some walking in around there, and I've planned to have about 500 calories for the evening so I should be okay if I'm careful...

Tomorrow morning it's up and at it early! I'm thinking that i'll get in 60 minutes of Pilates plus an hour or so of walking (and I'm going to try for a 17-19 mile/hr pace).

You're doing great! Be sure you're getting enough rest since you're feeling "a bit under the weather". I know, I sound like an old mother hen. That's 'cus I am. emoticon

I did get the walk in -- 55 minutes!

Counting my green drink as a 1st veggie, and the peppers, onions & pineapple added to my homemade pizza as 2nd veggie brings me to only 4 for yesterday -- gotta work on that.

1) I got my Video in early on in the week. WAHOO!

2) I added in time today, but I've not been even coming close to what I was doing last week (I've been feeling a bit under the weather) - hubby and I haven't walked at all this week, but I have been getting in my morning workouts and this mornings was a good 30 minutes longer than my normal morning routine.

3)I've had 5 every day until today this week - I'm going to be at 8+ today with my current plan...

4) I'm up to 2X checking in... :)

Did two new core exercises during my one hour session with trainer today. Two fruits, blueberries and pineapple, plus had roasted red peppers as part of my lunch and mix vegs along with a salad as part of my dinner. Did us my pedometer today but took it off when I went to my training session and I had only gotten to 7600 today but think if I left it on would have made at least the 10,000. Heck if I know if I am hitting all the challenges and don't really care emoticon Just know I am paying attention to getting stuff done which is GREAT!

Have now hit two goals! Over one year of not smoking and am below the 150lb mark! Just hit my third goal, under 140lbs! 03/27/09 hit the 50 pounds lost goal!

Yesterday I did strength training for my extra exercise but didn't get enough fruit & veggies.

1) Haven't done a new exercise but still have to the end of the week.
2) Planning a walk this evening when the sun goes down -- will report back that this event actually took place. ;)
3) Two servings of fruit so far, need to try hard to get 3 veggies at dinner.
4) I'm posting!

Oops, sorry about that, I didn't mean to leave out steps. In fact, I was going to get myself another pedometer. Keep on stepping, I am going to put it with number 2 as an alternative.

I met # 1 today with out even knowing it was going to be a part of the challenge! emoticon I did Day 1 of SP's 10 minute cardio bootcamp series this morning. It's not too difficult, but it's not easy either...

I got my 5 fruits & veggies yesterday and have about 10 planned for today, so I've got that one nailed at the moment as well. I'm going to have to work to get those extra 15 minutes in 3x a week... :)

The August Challenge is here, our goals are as follows:

emoticon
1) Try a new video or exercise each week of the month-long challenge.

emoticon emoticon
2) Add 15 minutes of exercise at least 3 times each week. This could be strength training, walking, swimming or just build the time onto your present routine. OR use a pedometer at least 3 times a week, trying to get in at least 10,000 steps a day.

emoticon emoticon
3) Aim for a minimum of 5 fruit and veggies each a day.

emoticon
4) Check into this thread as often as possible to report on your progress and mutual encouragement. May I suggest 5 times a week as a minimum?

* * *

Special thanks to RKSPICY and CPOLLOCK for their contributions and enthusiasm for this Challenge. It wouldn't exist without you!

All members of this team are welcome to join the Challenge while it is still ongoing.

* * *

emoticon Okay Team, let's go!
