Saturday I finish my January Workout Challenge and it has been both a workout and a challenge - all good ! This has been a great way to start 2012 and I am going to continue with the 28 Day Boot Camp video. I will also make use of the wonderful video and print resources available here on Sparkpeople. My daughter announced her engagement this month and they plan to have a late spring wedding -- this gives me additional motivation for getting this habit going!

Last day is tomorrow and I feel like this has been a great experience for me. I have the 28 day boot camp video ready to go. Tomorrow I will leave the house at 4am at the latest and drive just under 2 hours to a chess tournament. There I will run computers and hang pairings, wall charts and standings all day. Talk to numerous people and I will also get lots of exercise in. I also plan on doing just a little more exertion by standing more than sitting in between rounds. Maybe watch some of the games if the computer is where it will be safe and no one will bother it or can find someone I trust to watch over it. What a way to finish this challenge. I am stronger and healthier and more energetic and happier. WOW!! What more could anyone ask for? More! Yes more. And I plan on continuing in this mode for a long time. Thanks for all of the support and hope all continue on the journey to a healthier you!

What a week! I am feeling so proud of my accomplishments, I don't want to ruin my momentum by weighing and not having lost the 10 pounds I set out to lose this month.

emoticon

I am already planning my February exercise. I can now cycle on my recumbent 60 minutes. So I am going back to my 35 minutes (my usual goal) and ramping up the intensity. I have been trying so many playlists for upbeat music that will keep me pedaling at or above 10 mph and found that "Rihanna, The Remixes" is AWESOME. Most songs are 7-9 minutes of heart pumping encouragement. I don't even listen to her music much (more of my kids' taste) but she is good!

emoticon

The But Blasting video is such a challenge. I groan my way through it since, Lawd knows... I've got enough butt to share. Still trying to do two of those back to back. Hasn't happened yet.

Hey JumpStarters - For some odd reason, today I seemed to have a little extra time and the energy to do an extra video. I did my usual 2.25 miles on the treadmill. I did the Athletic Intervals Video (Day 1) back to back. And I did the Seated Core/Abs Video, twice (at different times of the day).

I keep telling myself, that the challenge is almost over. But is it really over?? Or just the beginning ??? Thanks Nicole!! emoticon

Have 2 days to go. So far this week, have upped my cardio, doubled 3 strength/toning videos, tried 2 new SparkRecipes, and GAINED 1 pound. I have a total weight loss of 1 pound in almost 4 weeks - nowhere near my goal of 2 pounds a week. Oh, well, I feel stronger. The weight loss will eventually come.

Whew!! This HAS been a challenge with work and other things trying to get in the way. But I have finished! Next goal--I'll be doing my 2nd 5K in May so I will be training for that--I want to finish under 40 minutes (might be a long time to some but for my 2nd, that is a possible goal).

I've completed my third day of this week!
I added some cardio today to my usual walk as well as doing the video.
Working on getting those veggies up to par again. My veggie supply has
been down since we had the storms here. Gotta get some more!
Will get through the rest of this week one way or another!

This is not the way I wanted to end week 4......congested and not being able to do a good job on the cardio. That's what happens when you're with an adorable little 9 month old with a cold who wants to keep sticking his fingers in your mouth! lol I would do it all over again.

Did get both videos in and am working on walking in segments....not a lot of speed and now jogging....bummer

Well, I was sick this week so I did not get in any workouts for 3 days, but I made up for it today:

1/27: 30 minute elliptical/7-Minute Upper Body Workout with Dumbbells/12-Minute Seated Core Workout/10-Minute Pilates Hips & Thighs Workout/9-Minute Arm Sculpting Workout

I hope to do another 30 min elliptical tomorrow & Sunday and double up on some challenge videos for tomorrow and Sunday as well. This challenge truly got my year jump-started and I can't wait to reach that 1,000 fitness minutes next month! That is my goal for next month!

I just realized I am in week 4! emoticon Yay me! I have been very consistent with my workouts & sticking to my eating plan. Had a tough day on Wednesday but pushed through. I gave my body a rest and got back to it with a quick walk yesterday and Tae Bo this morning. I'm feeling pretty good about where I am at. It's not easy to stay motivated and get up at 4:45am to workout in the mornings. It's also not easy to resist all of the cake and sweets in the office. But I have stayed committed and hope to see the results of that very soon.

I'm looking forward to some time to myself tomorrow, going hiking at a local state park. Should be a great day for it. No rain in the forecast. emoticon

Have a fabulous weekend y'all!

Still working hard. Have 1.5 hours of exercise today. Not a huge loss this week. Only .6 officially. Although after my morning workout I was down another 2.8. That made me feel a little better. Only recorded the .6 since that is what the scale said for my normal weigh in. Little victories lead to big success.

My exercise this week has changed in the following ways:

1. I added 3 "video repeats" this week. My 3rd will be today's video being repeated when I get home from work tonight.

2. I added an extra mile of walking every day (M-F).

Those little things sure do add up! That is 3 extra workouts and 100 extra minutes of cardio!

Today, the weather is beautiful and, although we still have the evidence of recent snow and ice storms on walkways, I decided to walk anyway. Even stopped at the produce store and then at a small grocer to pick up eggs. All in all, a 4 mile hike, much of it on rather treacherous walkways. The final 3 miles, I was carrying an extra 28 pounds of produce & eggs (Yes, I did weigh it all when I got home).
What did I learn? My strength and balance have improved tremendously. About 10 minutes from home, I hit a patch of ice covered by slush and managed to somehow maintain my balance, not "pull" anything, and never even wondered if I was going to fall!
This has been a great month for fitness! If today was not evidence of my improvement and reason enough to continue to maintain good health and fitness, I don't know what is!

I've been enjoying a change of pace. I've been alternating between Wii Biggest Looser and the SparkPeople video's this whole month. I think I'm going to stick with Wii Biggest Looser but alternate with some Cardio Kickboxing for the next month. Now if I can only wire my mouth shut so I don't eat snacks after dinner, I might actually loose some weight.

Today I got up and did Leslie Sansone's 5 mile advanced walk away the pounds dvd (75 minutes) and then did my end of the month finishing up this January Jumpstart workout, so am finished with this challenge.
Since I am now at my goal weight and maintenance program, I felt something different for the next month is in order...I will be joining the Official Healthy Cooking Challenge at Challenge Central of SP.

I don't like to cook, but finding new and healthier versions of recipes will be fun and challenging. I will definitely continue working out and staying toned...that is a given!! But wanted something totally different for the next challenge.
I made it through this one-it is always fun to do the workouts-thank you Coach Nicole!

getting ready to do the 15 min ab workout. im going to use a 10 lb weight for resistance. This challenge has been...wel, a bit of a challenge! lol. That goal was met! I've been more mindful of emotional eating. I've been putting in to practice waiting it out a bit before I actually attack any sweet or salty foods. Every one has stress sometimes. Don't let the emotional monster steal your efforts.

Day 6 of the last week of the challenge, I did my exercises and I have joiurnaled my food. Feeling pretty good today. Sunny outside and cold but still sunny. It's been a pleasure to do this challenge and it's been sometimes difficult but I have learned to get up and get moving more and more with eating better,

I have had kind of a break through week mentally and physically. I have never been an athletic person. Anyone who knows me is well aware ;) but yesterday as I did my cardio workout I just got an itch to try something. I did the 8 minute cardio interval video and then jumped on the elliptical and guess what this girl did...I ran!!!! For 10 minutes I ran on the elliptical machine! It didn't kill me and I actually felt good when I was done. I am so stoked to do it again tonight! I might switch it up a bit and do some interval running so I can workout longer. I am on my way to a new me. I tell a difference everyday! Thank you spark people and all of my motivational team members. January Jumpstart is just what this gal needed to light a "spark" under me! emoticon

Despite having a stomach virus in the middle of this challenge, and tons of stress at work, I have completed my first challenge here.

I'm glad I did this challenge, and I am planning on continuing with my exercise program.

I didn't lose much in the way of pounds, but I did find a healthier way to deal with my stress than flumping on the couch with junk food (Wii Boxing is awesome for relieving stress!), and that says it all!

During this challenge I found some awesome workout videos that I can do even at my desk at work! For once I am seeing exercise as a tool, not a chore.

Thank you Sparkpeople and thank you to the Team Leaders for this challenge. You really have changed my thinking.

So far - 9 minute abs sculpt, 12 minute seated core, and 11 minute chair cardio. I hope to get to walk outside but it's rained all week. Will do Senior Chair dvd or Stationary Bike if I can't walk.

Yuk! I don't think I'd be doing much exercise in heat like that either. Pretty much sitting in front of the A/C is about all I'd be doing, except to go to the refer for more water! Hope it get's cooler for you.

It's raining hard here. I won't be going to the pool for exercise today and I won't be going for a walk either. Disappointing, but not unexpected so I adpt and do my indoor exercises more. I am doing the arm toning vid today. I really like this one. I can't do the pushups because of knee nerve damage but I substitute wall pushups instead. Today is a good day for the Jumpstart videos as the rain is keeping me inside anyway.

Have a great one, Everyone!

Having this challenge and the fitness plan has made a huge difference in the frequency I work out. I've been struggling with a lot of depression the past few weeks and this week has been particularly bad. The past few days it's been a struggle to get myself to do just ten minutes of cardio, but I'm really loving the videos. I'm looking forward to finding a new challenge program for next month!
