I woke up feeling a bit under the weather this morning, so I did an easier cardio today, but still did 30 minutes plus some of the core workout video (Day 4). I will complete my core workout with my own p.t. exercises that I do on a regular basis for my lower back issues. My p.t. includes both back and ab exercises, so I consider it a core workout.

I sure hope I'm not getting sick! I'm taking Zicam and drinking lots of water and will get plenty of rest, too, since I don't have to go back to work until Jan. 3.

Take care, everybody!
Donna

Goals for 1/16/2019 through 2/14/2019:
- Track food at least six days per week
- Get at least 7000 daily average steps, increasing weekly.

Today I started with my Day 1, even though I got the email on Wednesday. What a great cardio workout. I really thought I was in pretty good shape - 30 minutes on the elliptical 3 times a week, strength training. HA! Who was I kidding???? Only myself, evidently! But I really liked the video, and plan to start using it regularly. Like on all the days I don't go to the gym. And until I can do it well... then I'll move up to a more difficult one.

Have a GREAT day!

I love this!
For cardio, I usually do Leslie Sansone walking/jogging videos but since it's so nice outside I have been walking outside lately. I might go for both today!
Keep it up, team!

I have joined several SparkPeople challenges and never finished one completely.. so my first goal is to actually complete all 28 days of this one! My second major goal is to be bikini-ready for my vacation to Mexico February 4th... which gives me just 5 weeks! This challenge, along with a low-carb, protein and produce-focused diet will help get me there!

I am close to my weight goals, overall, just about 10 pounds to go for my ultimate goal, but at least for this February vacation, I am not so much focused on the number as how I look in my new pink bikini :-) I am focusing on toning my thighs, butt, and abs as well as overall cardio to get me ready. Wish me luck!

Manhattanette.

Turning 40 years old in early April and would like to feel like I'm 30 years old. LOL!! My goal with this challenge is to get a nice kickstart into a new healthy lifestyle. Also, I think it would be fun to have the January Jumpstart Challenge Trophy! emoticon

Goals:

1. Track EVERYTHING...food, water, exercise
2. Work out at least 3 times a week if not more.
3. HAVE FUN!!!

Signed up but not going to start till Jan 1....I bruised my tailbone Wednesday while skiing and am working on learning how to move and sit without wanting to yell some choice 4 letter words.

My goals for 2012:

Track. Track! track...and track
Learn to like new veggies
Lose one pound a week.
Cardio a minimum of 3x a week.

My goal for this week - 5x cardio, 7 days toning - I am on break. It should be doable. I think I am going to do walking for my cardio as long as this unseasonable warm weather keeps up. Biking is definitely out of the question right now...haha

Day 2 was 180 minutes of heavy cleaning (walls, oven, stove top, refrigerator, cabinets inside and out), 12 glasses of water, and tracked all my food.

Day 3 will be 10 minutes of strength and 30 minutes of cardio, at least 8 glasses of water, and tracking all my food.

I feel energized today after a great night of sleep. I was up earlier, and was able to relax before heading out the door to work.

What a challenge to start a challenge....

I joined and posted Tuesday, the 26th. How excited I was to try out the videos and mental get ready for Sunday. I surprised myself with less than exciting attempts at getting going...

I had been sick over Christmas weekend, thinking I had a bug. By Tuesday I felt better, but I guess not enough to start exercising in my living room. I skipped my usual Zumba class and huddled in for the evening. I continued to need more rest and sleep. Today I woke up feeling perky and told myself I'd better get moving so I went out for a long walk without my dog, Lucky, so I could get some exercise in. It took 15 minutes of steady walking for my knee to not ache and I finished the walk pain-free and decided that was enough today.

I've been injury-free all of 2011 and my total minutes reflect that change for me. I'm used to higher amounts of exercise; but I paid the price with repeated injuries in 2009 and 2010. It was in 2010 I had a nerve test on both feet and ankles, and even then I was starting to get something called "tarsal-tunnel" in both ankles. It's just like when your wrist hurts, only it's in the ankles. The symptoms can be consistent with lots of tingling in both feet, and then other days, there are no symptoms.

I'm joining the challenge anyway, come Sunday, and I'll modify as necessary. This is the first December in a couple of years where I don't have to look forward to losing the same weight I gained over and over again; so I must be doing something right. I weigh less than I did a year ago at this time.

Thanks for your support,

Sandy emoticon

I did Day 1 Video today. I had to stay with most of the low impact moves. I am not yet ready for high impact. I also walked 2.34 miles (47 mins.). Feeling tired and sore, but less stressed and feeling good.

Two days with the DVD with 7 sets of exercises.. name eludes me tonight. I'm starting a calendar for my streaks... put it near the DVD and my exercise area as more motivation. I like the idea of a size 12 again and will figure out what to do with the only slightly larger clothes when I reach that size again. Any ideas about that?

My goal is to complete this challenge the best I can. When I tried out the first video yesterday, I quickly found I had to adapt just about everything to something I can actually do. But I put in the time and did the best I could. Day 2 was easier for me, could do most of it reasonably well. I was so pleased with myself! What I can do, I'm sure I owe to the strenght training I've been doing already. I'm really looking forward to seeing what I can do by the end of January.

Day 3 done! Did 30 minutes on the treadmill - running for 20 minutes of that!!! Been a while since I could do that. Some of these strength videos are real killers!

I will be away from the computer all weekend but getting some exercise. Do I just do the videos when I get back? Multiple in one day?

day two almost killed me.....of course, that could be because I was trying to keep up and do it seated as well...*grin* not as easy but doable...day three, I loved....okay, I suppose that is a bit much, but I really like doing the upper body exercises better ....probably because they are easier to adapt and easier for me to do.....that said, I am getting a good workout.....*grin* :)

I have been doing day 1 bootcamp video and leslie sansone dvd, seated, as well as also doing walking in place, seated.. of course, since I was out and about this morning....I did walking with my walker instead :)

I am off from school until 1/23/12. With no drive and class time let alone class time I feel like I can invest in a group exercise activity. Plus I am not driving 50 miles round trip in a western PA winter to use the fitness center. This is my way of continuing onward.

I am excited about this challenge too. I joined Sparkpeople in October and saw immediate results; since then, I have hit a plateau. I am adding time and intensity to my workouts to bust the plateau, but this challenge helps me to kick it in gear. My main goal is to bust this plateau with the extra motivation of a challenge. So far this week I have been doing well, mostly going over the 10 minutes of activity per day and tracking my exercise and nutrition.

Hi to all!
I am excited about this challenge. I did not complete the entire Spring challenge and decided not to put this one off 'till the first but started it yesterday. I am pleasantly surprised how challenging these exercises are. Awesome! By the end of January I need to be 2 kg (4-5 lbs) lighter - my weight from a month ago! We can do this team! Good luck to all of us!

Good morning, Jump Start Team. Day 2 for me. I enjoyed this video very much. Just enough going on for me to use as a warm up prior to Tae Kwon Do class this morning. Great hip-opening moves in there!

Well, I'm into my second day! I did one video yesterday and 2 videos today. I plan to go for a walk this afternoon.

Yesterday I made a "shake" with fruits, veggies and yogurt. Actually I made a blender ful and drank it all day. It tasted kind of wierd but it wasn't too bad. I never have liked veggies much so I'm trying anything to get them into my diet.

I would love to lose 30 pounds. For some reason this has seemed impossible to me. My son will be getting married in July and I so want to look good for the wedding!

This week is my last week in the "Official Spring Into Shape Bootcamp Challenge" so I am doing a daily work out as indicated on that challenge + the extra work out (repeated x 1) as indicated on that challenge. in addition to the work outs indicated in the Jan Challenge.
Wowers, in addition to my 30+ cardio minutes that I am doing 6 days/week.
I plan on continuing all the above + whatever this challenge throws at me
(b/c I am also enrolled in a BL Challenge)
MAN, am I dedicated or crazy? whatever the answer, I love it?

Hugs & Well Wishes -- Amy

Tracked all my food yesterday, and used my stationary bike throughout my favorite TV show. I will begin the videos/official challenge on the 1st, but great to be back on track.

Back on track! I am so happy to be doing this January Challenge. I was getting stuck!
Day 1 cardio for 30 (low impact)
tracked all food,
drank all my h2o
Day 2 caught up and did the interval workout , good one! and days 2 and 3 videos, because I felt I needed a bit more.

We are buying a treadmill today! I can't believe I am excited about that but I am psyched! emoticon

Did the 8 minute workout this morning, although because of my internet it's more like 14 minutes. Did some adjustment on the video because I'm still not to do high impact, because of the hip surgery. But it worked and I'm going that's what counts. Will go hiking this afternoon.

I did the cardio with Coach Nicole and was pleasantly surprised at how challenging it was. I do Zumba twice per week and I play tennis once or twice a week (depending on the weather). I'm just trying to get a Jump Start on the January Jumpstart challenge.

I just finished my second cardio workout for the week and the 3rd SP video (upper-body) plus another 7-8 minutes of extra upper-body work (I'm more advanced with strength work so I need more). I must say the cardio is pretty tough for more, as that has not been a focus of mine lately. I've been doing videos and I've had to pause the DVD several times each day so I could catch my breath and take a drink. It will be very interesting to me to see how much I improve over the next month. I really want to get better with cardio!

Donna

Goals for 1/16/2019 through 2/14/2019:
- Track food at least six days per week
- Get at least 7000 daily average steps, increasing weekly.
