This week has been quite an accomplishment. I am proud of all that I have done. I did want to cycle today, but the outer quad muscles ache in a special way.
emoticon
Also my abductor muscles and the lower part of my hamstrings. Well, I know I worked them. I did do the Arm Sculpting video (so thankful I could sit down). I have stairs in my house and I felt each and every step today. I want to string some beads or something so I can see how many times I go up and down.
emoticon

I am glad for the Challenge. I would not have pushed myself like this. Reading everyone else's posts to see that 'someone' shares my struggles.... is very encouraging.

Tomorrow is a new day to grow in this new way. emoticon

Started on the 3rd but have managed to catch up with all the videos. Doing great on my cardio and feeling much better again. So sorry I took so much time away from Sparks because I gained so much weight back. I know I can get back down b/l 150 again. This is the type of challenges that keep me coming back for more. Feeling great! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Just finished day 7 and feel awesome. I got of to a rough start and had to play video catch up mid week, but it was totally worth doing. Did a 125 minutes run this morning, plus played outside with my son for a half hour and had Coach Nicole smoke my abs this evening. The videos have added that extra push I need and I feel motivate to do more strength training and cardio that I have been doing! I totally agree that this week's abs workout have been KILLER!

I have lost 30 pounds so far on spark people and I love...however I still weigh 257 pounds! so that's a lot of bulk to crunch yet!!! But I did it! Yeah me!

Finished Day 7 with Coach Nicole's 15-minute ab workout. Also walked for 1 hour of hills with the baby jogger (dd is 23 lbs., so that helped pump up my cardio, too!). Feeling tired tonight, but very satisfied with myself for completing Week 1.

I AM SO EXCITED WEEK ONE IS OVER!!!!!! :D :D :D I am soooooo happy and proud of myself - and all of you guys for sticking with the plan! :D I am in Pigeon Forge, TN at the moment. If anyone has been here, you know there's oodles of shops and it's cheaper - and easier, to walk to them. So, I actually managed to do a little over 5 miles of walking today! That may not seem like much to some of the more advanced exercisers, but I live a pretty sedentary lifestyle, so it was quite an accomplshment. But, I will have to say that it was pretty easy, and I wasn't out of breath at all. I was so happy that I didn't become winded.

I also completed the workout video - oooooooooooooowwwwwww, my abs!!!! Nicole makes all of these videos look so easy, lol. She's so great, I love her videos and how well she demonstrates them.

Welp, I'm feeling inspired and am going to hop on the eliptical while I'm here at the hotel!

Way to go everyone!!!!!!! emoticon

I am really sorry to hear your situation. We have had serious illness in our family in the past. My stepmom passed away from a neurological disease a few years ago.

So I hope to encourage you.
Good job eating well despite your options and the stress you are under. That shows a lot of strength. If you can do the 15 minutes for today's video, it went by really fast. Some of it is some nice stretching which might unwind your back if you get tight there with stress. It might help you sleep?

When you are caring for someone else you have to make sure you put your own "oxygen mask" first so make sure to take care of yourself too. Eat well or you will feel worse anyway. Also, maybe you can walk up and down the halls or walk steps between floors or around the hospital in 10 minute stints when you are waiting for tests and so on. While you can't control much going on with your m.i.l., it might help to feel like you have control of your own health.

Again, I am really sorry to hear about your family and prayed for you.

Enjoying the strength-training, and I have found that it's given me more endurance when I work my cardio activities. I'm especially enjoying walk/jog intervals, and am experimenting with different SparkPeople videos.

Goal...well I really needed to step up my workouts and get them more consistent over the week so seeing this challenge last week seemed that it would really help.
Yes - it shook things up and got me to focus more on getting exercise into everyday.
No - it was hard to get it properly worked into my schedule (but next week should go smoother).

I had a huge problem figuring out how to work the videos in created by my ISP - its taking two hours for the video to load this week. Awful but thats the ISP - which is why replacing them is moving much higher on the priority list! Now that I know this though next week should go better....... start the video load then go eat & clean up, go for a walk, do housework and other tasks for a couple hours...by then the video will finally be ready. I'm also taking notes on each so some of these I may try doing from the notes (two of them fortunately had printouts which I reviewed and marked up as I did videos; the others I'm having to do my own notes which I'll fix next week as I go through --- Maybe I can do routine from notes while video loads then go thru with video to see what I missed or improve notes to improve form...

All the video nonsense sucked up time so my cardio just barely made the minimum for the week. On the other hand, I already had two groups of 6 strength sessions scheduled for the week so the videos increased this to 18 ..... a bit much so I cut back one group BUT still managed to do 13 of 18 !! Now that's kicking it up!!

Day 1 - fun but I'm a klutz! I may do this a couple of extra times next week to add to cardio. I think its fun but my shins might not be happy with some of the impact that got (but they need it so they'll just have to suck it up.)

Day 2 & 5 - enjoyed
Day 3 & 6 - enjoyed. Nice twists on some things I've done before so worth the repeat for the variety.

Day 4 - looked easy but if you focus on getting totally correct form you suddenly start feeling that it is much much more effective than it appeared at first.... especially for someone who is a bit lax with getting enough core work in.

Day 7 - a killer. I hate crunches but this put tons of variety into them so found myself not realizing that I'd done so many. finally got to the non-crunch portion and thought I'd be happy - but ouch!

emoticon Made it through week 1!

Now need to go reschedule next week so this goes smoother
AND so I can ramp up the cardio more (and maybe find time to fit in a couple yoga stretching sessions because my muscles today are telling me that I need more stretching).

But first, need to make final decision on next weeks extra video and start it loading it so I can review it later . Load, review, take notes, review......by then it should be after midnight so I should just do it for the first time. Hmmmm, sounds like a plan!

Just completed week 1 and even though I had to do some modifications to the toning videos, I never gave up! The challenge really helped me to get some fitness minutes in every day! I'm up to 300 total already and it's just been a week! Thanks January Jumpstart!

Today was the hardest day for me - my m-i-l (who had a brain tumor removed 4 weeks ago yesterday) was rushed to the ER at 6am this morning with the same symptoms as 5 weeks ago, and along we went, to the local hospital and then to the better one 2 hours away. We stayed there for 12 hours and I just got home. My wind-down to get me ready to sleep is here. It's you. It's us. It's time for me. I am slightly bummed to see my 10 minute workout today is 15 minutes, but I am going to do it because I am committed to myself.

If I do not stay strong, how in the world am I going to be a good family support / caretaker (if she doesn't regain the feeling in her whole right side, we are in for a new chapter)? Now I need to rely on you. I will try my best to start and finish week two, but right now I feel like I need to take it one day at a time. HELP ME.

I did good at the hospital food court - passed up hubby's cookies (ate two of his french fries though) and got myself a tuna sandwich for lunch and a salad for supper with no snacks from the vending machine in between (brought my almonds and water). Yay, but I need to keep up with the exercise, especially when my days ahead will be running to work, running to the hospital, sleep, repeat.

Anyone else go through something like this? What helped you keep on track?

Amoebas live forever and you can too.

Finished week 1. Weigh in tomorrow....because of the ounce I might lose today:) Great week with 610 fitness minutes. The videos really help. I noticed last time I was consistent with them that I enjoyed them - short and yet I felt good. Then I took a vacation from them. I like that they are always there for me - on my laptop. No excuses! Thanks for all your support! Ready for week 2!

I tracked my food every day this week and felt it helped me stay really accountable. Every time I thought about reaching for something extra to eat, I asked myself if I was really hungry and I thought about how many calories I had left for the day. This food tracking is helping me change the way I think about eating. I'm so thankful for the exercise videos also, because I can't always get to the gym.

Good luck everyone on starting Week 2!

Getting ready to do the Day 7 video. I will probably have to modify it a bit being pregnant, but I've been trying to stick to everything, as instructed, as much as possible.

Week One is done - pants are still tight, so I am NOT looking forward to the Monday morning weigh in. But I did work out every day starting with 1/3/12 - I made of the videos from the first 2 days that were missed. I got on that treadmill and worked it. Looking forward to long term changes in my fitness choices and dare I say it.....whatever week 2 has to bring. I might regret those words - LOL

I did video #6 and it worked out fine. Number 7 I just watched and sort of copied down the exercises although I think there is a way to print them. I have trouble doing the exercises and watching at the same time, so will do them tonight in my bedroom. I am glad we have more chances to do the same exercises. I love doing them to videos. Have never been so motivated. I am eating well too, although old patterns are hard to break. Mindless eating is hard for me. I am trying though not to beat myself up and just move forward. I did not lose any weight this week, but did buy a pretty pair of earrings as an award. I am looking forward to week two. Looking for the team challenge page so I can go on to week 2.

I can't believe I did it, made it through week 1. Wow! Did my exercise videos, strength training exercises and some cardio (well everyday except Friday, I only walked that day-12 hour work day drained me). Now I'm ready for Week 2. Maybe I can step it up a notch!

Anything important in our lives is going to require effort and discipline.

Hooray, hooray, hooray - I made it through week 1 !!!!!!!!!!!. That was my 1st goal - to, complete week 1 and it should get me motivated to press forward.
I want to finish this challenge feeling energized: I plan to stay consistant with my fitness and healthy eating plan. I just want to be a healthier person, enjoy life in spite of some chronic health problems. I am on my way, yeah.

Completed week 1!! 183 minutes of cardio and 1520 calories burned!! Not to mention all those videos! Really proud of myself, and I'm totally pumped for next week- just hope I can keep this motivation up when school starts! Anyone else thinking about the semester starting again?

I just completed week 1! Yay for me!!

I signed up for this challenge because I did last year's challenge when I first joined Spark People. Last year's challenge really helped me get my fitness plan into high gear.

I stopped doing the bootcamp challenges last year because I started experimenting with other things: running, Zumba classes, Jillian Michaels videos. All of those things were difficult at first, but got much, much easier over time. As I was halfway sleeping through the fitness videos, I suspected I was starting to slip in my efforts.

This challenge made me realize that I was not paying attention. Some days (esp. the Pilates) are truly a CHALLENGE! Thank you, Coach Nicole, for waking me up!!

Did some of the video's for Strength training and also did free weights. Walked three times this week on average 60 min. each time which covered my cardio work out as I am training for another half marathon. Looking forward to week 2 emoticon emoticon emoticon

I started this workout before the start date so that the two days that didn't have the additional cardio would line up with the two days I work a second job at night since I have virtually no free time those days. So in reality I've been doing this challenge for 10 days now, but I'm still counting today as the end of week 1 so that I'm keeping track along with everyone else (plus the 3 extra days of working out is good for me, lol).

Today I decided to do one of the Zumba DVDs that I got for Christmas (the 20 minute Express one) and was going to follow it with another 10 minute video to get 30 minutes of cardio in. Well DH decided that he wanted to work on something in the basement (where we have my exercise corner as well as his workshop), so of course I was initially embarrassed because I had never done that video before so I was flailing around even more uncoordinated than usual, but I guess because of having an audience I forced myself to do 20 minutes of cardio after the Zumba DVD instead of just 10. Perhaps I should workout each time he's in his workshop since I seem to make myself work longer when he's there too (even if he's not working out and believe me I try to get him to join me). Then again, maybe he just wanted to watch those cute Zumba girls wiggling on the screen! emoticon

I started off on the 5th and have been doing two videos a day to catch up so I'll finish before the end of January. Loving it so far. Using a sticker chart for incentives and reminders.

The day 5 video was brutal on me today, but I love how good I felt when I finished it. emoticon

I'm nearing the end of week 1 and proud that I've stuck with it, even when it really wasn't fitting in my crazy life. Cut a cardio workout short, but made up the cardio time today. One more video and I'm done. This is the first week in some time when I've managed to amp up the 10 minutes per day to 30-45 minutes a day (cardio and video combined). Not bad!

Almost through week 1! 6 videos and 4 cardio workouts down. Tonight I will get in the last cardio workout and Day 7 video. Top it all off with being sick all week (nasty cold) and a migraine today, but hey, as long as my body lets me, I'm going to get the work in. I need the "jump start" after hitting a plateau!
