Wow, that sounds like a fantastic, active vacation, despite the hotel misadventure! ;)

Agilecat it sounds like you had a great weekend! Good for you in taking on the challenge of getting in your run!

I went to the beach with some friends. They arrived on Friday and we arrived around lunch time on Sat. Had some lunch then went out on the spit and did about a 6 mile hike with lots of bushwhacking involved. There were some periods of pretty intense activity. We found the geocaches we were looking for (most anyway) and had a great time. I was pretty tired and ready for the car the last two miles... Then ice cream/sorbet at the Tillamook cheese Factory. Then back to the hotel because my friend wanted a shower before dinner. That was when I tried to check in. Turns out my reservations were for the wrong city. Not sure how that happened. We ended up at a very old place. We decided to look at it as a blast to our childhood. The key was real and even said you could put it in the mailbox to send it back to the motel. Remember those?
The next morning we got up early for low tide and met our friends in the lobby of the nice hotel (the staff there freaked out at our story and sent us in to get breakfast). Then we had a nice adventure going through a cave that usually has 10 feet of water in it, a couple of rock scrambles (cardio) and down the beach for the cache. It was great. Then back for dry clothes and then another 2 mile hike. Lots of good cardio. And fun with friends.

Hope everyone had a good weekend, whether it was productive work or family visits or relaxing!

I had a fantastic time tent-camping at a remote spot deep in the Ozark Mtns, catching up with old friends, playing with various kids and dogs, exploring the cold creek, and telling spooky stories and singing around the campfire late into the night.

I took a 3-day vaca from many, but not all, healthy eating habits, and did so with few--okay, no--regrets. Even if I've temporarily regained a pound or two, it's no big deal. Once I'm home, I'm back on track.

I would have regretted missing my C25K run, however. Turns out there IS a second road that's mostly flat. It crosses the 20-foot wide creek 3 times, however. So running means wading the creek about knee deep. And because Week 6 Day 3 called for jogging a solid 25 minutes, and the flat part of the road is only about a mile, that meant I'd have to double back and re-cross the creek.
So I did. It was kind of a fun challenge! emoticon

I think I have the bases covered. I will be spending the weekend with my Mom and my daughter/SIL/new Grandbaby at my Mom's house while they are visiting from NC. My Mom is a sparker with me and she cooks and eat really healthy. It will be nice to be somewhere where I won't have to worry about what I'm going to eat without bringing and cooking my own food.

We are heading to the beach for a couple of days. We will probably get in some beach walks for exercise. Eating is a little more difficult. It is the land of iceberg lettuce. i get kind of tired of it after a couple of meals. Not much else vegan available... But I will do my best. That's all I can do.

Oh, and my son has already said we HAVE to go to the Tillamook Cheese Factory. The ice cream (and cheese) there is amazing. Much tastier than what you get in the store. I think because it is fresh. Anyway, I shouldn't eat any. Might be stressful, though.

If the road goes up, doesn't it come back down :)

I had to delay my c25K to try to figure out some ankle issues. I've been feeling better, so I think I'm going to try again. I was just on week 4. I'll probably try to repeat week 3, see how that goes and move on.

Pack some celery and laughing cow cheese. Yum.

good luck and have fun.

What are your healthy-eating-and-exercise plans for this weekend? Will it be challenging for you, or do you have all bases covered?

I'm excited to be going camping with a big group of friends in a remote area--it's a tradition. I love getting away from it all, but no internet or cell phone service means I won't be on SP from Friday morning until late Monday. So long, Log-in-Spin-the-Wheel Streak.

Second, there will be great quantities and varieties of delicious good food (not just hotdogs and chips) and beer. I'm pretty good at making smart choices at a single special event, but it has never been tested over several days like this. So I'm a little nervous.

And I am sad that I'll have to postpone my scheduled C25K run to finish Week 6. The only road out there is gravel, and it mainly goes up!
