Hi, This is my first week but my goals are:
1.) track everything I eat
2.) exercise at least 5 days

My daughter and I did an exercise video for 50 minutes yesterday and I bought three more today so I will not run out of options when I can not go to the gym or outside.

My goal for the week is to stick to my meal plan and exercise 3x this week. I already walked 5k today so I just need to do 2 more day of exercise at a minimum. Hopefully, I will get 5 days in.

Kidoma, I like Greek yogurt because it has a good amount of protein in it. I don't want to start the day with too few calories and make my body think that I'm going to starve it.

My goal this week is to complete the Intermediate Bikini Workout 3x. I will do the workout but skip the bikini.

Good morning everyone

My short term goal is to get through this day back on track with food, water, and good exercise. I went a little "off" yesterday.

Just breath.

My goal this week is to go all out. I have not been really restrictive since I've changed my eating habits which is why I have had success this year. But this past week I spent a couple of days indulging. So this week I am going to "be good" NOT. I am having salad for lunch each day and working out in the morning before I go to work and maybe even after work. I am going to bed early each night so I will be up for traveling on Friday. I also plan to have a hearty healthy breakfast each morning. I was going to say no bread but that will only leave me to binging by the end of the week so I will have a slice of wheat toast with my breakfast. I hope this jump starts my summer on the right track.

I haven't talked to her yet. We usually have a one on one meeting every other week, and mine should happen next week, so I'm going to do it then. Unless, we have a company meeting today and there will be tons of very fatty food there. If she starts to say anything, I'm going to pull her aside. I'm sure it will be fine. If anything, she'll feel bad. She's happy when people get a good cup of coffee, or like the pen they're using :) I'm not worried.

Today's goal: Don't go over in any category. Such a challenge this week. I guess I'm in the part of my cycle where if it's not moving or nailed down I just want to eat it!

Hey Coach!
I will keep you posted, thanks for asking! I haven't talked to my boss yet. And it's not a huge deal, she doesn't break out the laser pointer and identify each healthy item I eat :) When I have a meeting with her again, I'll mention it. I think the thing that will make sense to her will be once I start losing weight and looking better. It kills me though! She eats crap, feels bad, then eats more crap! But I've been there, and not that long ago.

Hey Pickles!

I get it. No one wants to be the "dieter" in the group. God forbid you should go off the eating plan and have to deal with the "are you sure you can eat that?" comments and looks.

Been there, done that. You feel like saying "look Lady! I know I'm not supposed to have this but it's in my mouth and half eaten so SHUT UP and stop judging. Your judgement is making things worst, not better." But you can't say that so you punish yourself by eating more crap.

Well... that's how it goes over here. Not sure how it goes on your end...

Let us know how your conversation goes with your boss. You may be able to spin it so that she sees healthy choices as a possitive thing for HER. Let her know how greasy/heavy foods will cut down productivity by making her work-force sluggish and sleepy and high-sugary ones will make them experience a glucose low about an hour after they have their sugar high.

Hello, this is my first day back to spark people in a long time and my first time on this team's message boards . So first goal is to just keep track of everything I eat and drink plenty of water.

CoachNatalie, I'm hoping the entries in my food journal motivate me to run, ha ha :)

I totally understand the spot you're in. Where I work, they bring lunch in for us twice a week, and it's seldom healthy food. We all eat as a group, and when people don't eat what's brought in, there are comments from other people. I really don't want to call attention to my eating, but I may have to. I may at least tell my boss. She's a great woman, and super supportive of anything any tries, so I'm sure she'll understand. She has horrible eating habits but is much younger than me, so it hasn't quite caught up to her yet.

Pickles - we can run but we can't hide from the entries in our food journal. emoticon I Wouldn't it be amazing if all we had to do is NOT log the calorie and somehow it would disapear and not show up on the scale? Congratulations on a successful week!

Today's goal: Planned the day around a breakfast meeting where they don't pay attention to order specificaitons like "unbuttered toast".

As I was reading all of your goals - very motivational! - I realized that tomorrow will be Day 7 of keeping a food journal. So my very short term goal is to complete tomorrow to make one full week of journalling. It will be the longest I've ever stayed on track!

My dietician said that everyone thinks they eat less than they really do, so I have tried to be super diligent about measuring portions, and to be honest. I don't know how she (the dietician) will react to my cocktails in my journal, but I guess honesty is best :)

Good luck everyone, thanks for your insipration!

My goal is the same... family life and work hectic...
My goal is to go to bed early enough and get enough sleep so that I can exercise before kids to school so I make sure at least half of my workout is done before my day gets away from me..

I do 1000 calories per day on the elliptical machine, and it takes about an hour and a half, sometimes more depending on fatigue and multiple kid interruptions emoticon

Goalgirl.
I am doing the same and struggling to stay above minimums for protein. That's been a real eye opener for me. I can come up with a meal-plan that has the right number of calories but making sure the calories come from the "right" sources is hard for me.

My pereceptions are also being challenged because the foods I though were high in protein are generally high in fat too... so balancing the 2 is a real learning experience for me.

Short term doable goals are such a great idea. I struggle with being to vague when I set them, then I get frustrated because I'm not really sure if I'm successful. So, my goal this week is to set S.M.A.R.T. goals :

S - specific : WHAT am I going to do, WHEN, WHERE, HOW and WHY?
M - measureable - Is it measurable and can I measure it?
A - acheivable - Can I get it done in the proposed time with the resour es available to me?
R - realistic - Do I have the resources to do this
T - thrilling - does this goal excite me?

So, What : Move more; When: after work for at least 30 minutes - 6 days this week;
Where : either the club or outside; How: Make sure I have my work-out wear set and my water bottles filled before going to bed the night before; Why: 30 minutes/day 3 x week is recommended for heart health. I want to lose weight, so need to do more. I also feel better after I've exercised.

So, one goal met, now on to the other! Good luck everyone!

Well, I challenged myself to stay within a 1500 calorie range to see if I did not die of starvation, and I am still alive for the third day in a row! Kiddingly I call it my 1500Club, and all you have to do is plan your meals at the start of the day and keep the calorie count within 1500-1599, because I realized it would be too crazy to expect to hit 1500 exactly- I would abandon it.

Hi TKESLER99 -
I used to have a problem getting enough water in, but I set a time frame - say one hour for 1 cup. Having a set amount and set time helps me. Earlier today I knew that I would lose track of time because of my activities today, so determined that I would drink one BOTTLE every time I finished one activity.

Good luck with your goals!

If you don't change anything, nothing will change.

My goal for the week is to try to get at least 30 minutes of strenght training in at least 5 days this week. This is going to be a challenge for me because I don't work a set shift and sometimes I don't feel motivated enough to get up a little early just to do them. Wish me luck!!

Goals! I have no problem creating them but getting to them is a cookie of different ingredients. ;)

But here goes - I want to:

Track all my food intake
Increase my water consumption
Decrease my diet drink consumption
Get at least 150 minutes of exercise, mainly walking

I think I can swing those. We'll see. ;)

My goal for this week is to try and post all my food/water and keep it under the recommended limit. Today is day one on Spark and I did not succeed in keeping the calories low. What an eye opener as to how much I really eat. emoticon

My goal for this week is to get signed up at the YMCA so I can start working out everyday and swim. My other goal this week is to remain motivated. It is getting very frustrating watching my weight go down one pound one day then the next it goes up a pound and my eating habits are not changing.

My goals are:
1. Track everything I eat
2. Stay within calorie range
3. no more eating after 5 pm
4. make my running group meetings

I tried the 10,000 steps a day thing. That is a lot of steps. I had to back it down to 5000 except for the days that I run. How do you get that many steps in?

Hi everyone. I'm new on SP, and am glad to have found you all. My goals for this week:

Record what I eat (without cheating) ;)
Reduce the amount of sugar/sweets I'm eating
Exercise at least 30 min. 4 x this week
Get to bed by 10pm latest!!

My stomach is growling on this first week eating plan. UGH! Sure hope this gets easier!

I can do this...I can do this...I can do this...so can you!

I am a new member, so I do not know the answers to your questions. Sorry! I am posting just to offer some "hang in there" encouragement. I agree, meeting a goal requires work and effort, and at times it seems we are walking, but find ourselves not moving forward. You will move forward!! I know it is a struggle, but believing in yourself, believing in all the reasons why your goal will be met, you will move forward and meet your goal of the eating requirements. Keep going, you can and will get there!

Geesh! My goal right now is to actually meet the requirements of daily eating! Okay, does it change when I lose weight? The goals I'm supposed to be eating? These past two weeks have been a struggle so I can understand that it's harder to grab a bite, but it seems like the numbers are moving higher and I can't eat enough to satisfy the numbers.

Will this screw up my chances at losing weight? I've not weighed in for a few different reasons:
1. I hate scales
2. I haven't had time
3. I don't want to be disappointed

My goal is to stretch for 10 mins, exercise for 10 mins 5 days out of the week, and cardio for 10 mins 3 times a week. I have been a member for a little over a week, and I was very lax on the fitness.. I am happy to say that has changed. Today, I did it! I know tomorrow I will too...These are my goals for the week. When the week is up, I will do it again!

My goal is to take the stairs at work I work on the 6th floor of an Office tower.
My Goal is to take the stairs up and down 2 times a day.

MY MOTIVATION: There is a team here in Canada that does a marathon to raise money for Cancers, But here is the perk, you have a CHOICE to where you want to do the marathon it could be in Canada,California or another Country. There are usually 3 locations to choose from and it is a 3 day Marathon. I not only want to be a part of rasing money for the worst disease out there but I want the oppurtunity to experience a marathon have the chance to travel somewhere I have not been before and meet people who have the same inspirations that I do

Starting good is slow. I'm amazed at how much setting the goals of what I'll do is working for me. Course, I had to add it to "other goals" but whatever it takes.

Well I have been down with an ankle injury but I think I am going to try to walk at least 15 minutes per day minimum and of course always try to do more. If I walk to much or stand too much it makes the ankle ache and throb.....so I am going to start slow. Also, drink my water. Those are my 2 goals for this week.

Adlins - I love the Eleanor Roosevelt quote in your signature line, that has always been one of my favorites!

I have now done TWO days of 35+ minutes of cardio, so I am feeling pretty good about that. Last night I did 40 minutes at the gym but was kind of dragging by the last 5 minutes. I prefer to walk outside, it seems to be less of a 'chore' but it was raining and getting cold, even for Houston.

I think I will schedule a walk outside tomorrow (based on the weather forecasts) and then get one in on Thursday before the weekend.

Thanks for joining me in this mini goal!

Great goal! I just recently added to goals to my Other Goals here on Spark as sometimes my goals are broader than others.

What I added was: Cardio for 30 minutes (that's actually my minium) 3x per week and Yoga 2x per week. I'm getting ready to add one for strength training. I think this is more doable for me as it's something I can meet, I am being motivated by putting in a little check mark (go figure), and something cardio encompasses a wide range of activities, so I can get a bit of variety.

Good luck!

I would like to start a goal of the following:
Minimum of 35 minutes of walking (stretch goal is 45 minutes) FOUR times a week. Week starts on Sunday.
It might not seem like a big deal to many of you but for me, it would be a huge change.
Anyone else in and want to share motivation strategies?
