I am so thankful that for the first time in years I actually get to spend the day before Thanksgiving helping my mom so she can enjoy the day. Planning to use smaller plate and smaller portions but going to enjoy it all.

i am thankful for my family and we spend thanksgiving day at my mom's.. usually there is a large crowd and we have a large menu. we serve ham and turkey, dressing, gravy, mashed potatoes, candied yams, green bean casserole, green rice, fresh salad, hot rolls! this is all before dessert!!! pecan pies, pumpkin pie, fruit cake, blueberry salad and fudge, and, oh yes there is a chip and dip table also!!! for lunch i have 1 serving of whatever i want(i used to go back for 2nd and 3rd helping, but NO MORE!) later i have one sliver of pumkin and pecan pie and blueberry salad. for supper i have a turkey or ham sandwhich!! i do make a plate of turkey and dressing for lunch the next day and i freeze 1 serving for later. oh yes, i forgot the fruit cake(my mom's is too die for!), i take a piece of it for breakfast the next day!
my real problem is that in years past thanksgiving day has bee the end of my diest until jan 1! my birthday is nov 28th and i just never get back in control, but this year i am determined to change that habit and get right back in control the day after, i know i can, i know i can! emoticon

Last year at Mom's house, I had the portion control DOWN on the REGULAR food (turkey, dressing, green beans, etc.). It was the beautiful little table of CHIPS AND DIPS that got me. I couldn't quit munching on them. This year I will be mentally prepared for any "spare" food like appetizers! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I praying for a blessed day with family and friends without a lot of fat leaden sides and desserts. For the past 5 or so years, we have been cutting back, and this year will be the same. emoticon

This year, I'm on a mission with a specific goal in mind. I am working way too hard to blow it a couple of days on stuffing, gravy and pecan pie! I will work out that morning, and eat sensibly - turkey, green beans, salad and maybe splurge on a whole wheat roll with butter. One.

I am thankful that we live in a country where we can worship God freely; that my children are healthy and employed; that my husband and I have been together for over 30 years and counting.
We have a traditional thanksgiving meal with roast turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes, rolls (multigrain this year), cranberry sauce, and dessert. Since we usually eat mid to late afternoon, we only eat 2 meals so I don't worry too much about portion size. It's a one day thing and I would rather everyone enjoy the day instead of stressing over what and how much they eat.

I am thankful that Jesus gave His life for me.
I am going to keep my Thanksgiving meal simple and not indulge on sides that pile up the calories. emoticon
