This week's challenge:

This week, it is time to find ways to add fruits & vegetables into your diet. Fruits and vegetables are nutritious, low in fat, low in calories, filling, yet easy to eat on-the-go and a natural source of energy . They contain lots of vitamins and antioxidants.

Aim for 5 servings each day. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the USDA both recommend at least 5 servings per day. Choose fresh fruits and veggies whenever possible.

Compared with people who consume a diet with only small amounts of fruits and vegetables, those who eat more generous amounts as part of a healthful diet are likely to have reduced risk of chronic diseases.

2) Drink WATER emoticon

Drink water throughout the day, before, and during meals to help curb your appetite. Oftentimes, people think they are hungry when they are actually thirsty or dehydrated. Dehydration can slow metabolism, but the process of drinking water and warming it to body temperature involves energy and burns calories. Plus, being well hydrated gives the body at least 10 minutes more energy for exercise, according to a study in the International Journal of Sports Medicine. As Coach Nicole says, 'Aim for 8 glasses a day and you will feel the difference.'

If you have any kidney or adrenal problems, or your doctor has you taking diuretics, you need to consult with your doctor about how much water to drink each day.

3) Fitness Challenge - Just MOVE emoticon Add on 10 minutes to you current exercise routine.

Example: Push out 10 cardio minutes on the stationary bike or go for a power walk. For strength, do push-ups, wall sits, or lift dumbbells. For flexibility, its helpful to just stretch every day. Work different muscle groups and keep it simple. After 10 minutes, you will feel healthier and be on your way to developing solid fitness habits.
