DAY #29 HEALTHY HAT DAY

I think of this more as GET BACK ON TRACK or RESET YOURSELF. Unfortunately, I am still very familiar with the need to do this! Just this past Sunday we celebrated our S-I-L's birthday and I did not use any restraint in my eating or drinking. So yesterday, Sunday, was a Healthy Hat Day for me.

Here is what my Healthy Hat Day included last round:

- sticking to my "to do" list and not letting myself get distracted
- not allowing myself too much sitting time
- following my planned meals
- getting my 10 minute minimum fitness requirement done
- keep my schedule manageable so there is a bit of restful "me" time for reading, crafting, connecting with friends

This round it didn't seem so complicated. Here is what I did:

- start the day with a "clean" and minimal breakfast such as a Smoothie
- follow a simple meal plan
- drink lots of water throughout the day
- follow the fitness schedule I have planned for the day
- only do self-nurturing activities

Now that I look my list over I see I actually do the very things Linda suggests in today's lesson!

~ I care about nurturing activities that protect me from emotional eating. ~
Do it anyway! Focus on actions, not feelings. One step/choice at a time! ~"On days I don't feel motivated get methodical about actions. Drag myself out the door for a walk--even 7 minutes can improve mood. At the end of the day, the outcome is the same. It didn't matter whether or not you felt like doing these things- I still made progress!

Day 29 - Get your healthy hat

Linda is simply plain full of great ideas.

Every day, do at least 5 things that will help you label the day as being a “healthy one.”

1 water 2 healthy meals 3 exercise 4 stop routines for when you feel like eating and don't need to 5 self-nurturing

Excellent daily checklist and plan

Day #29 Healthy Day Hat
This is a great concept, it will be added to my list of good ideas from this book!
* I keep water beside my bed and drink some first thing before my coffee.
* Breakfast is usually at home and healthy.
* Sometimes at a new restaurant I still need to take my time and not to just to say yes to the added fries or chips added to a meal. I usually give in and eat them,
* Consistent exercise is always my downfall!
Each time I am with some of my friends and feel it necessary, I will just reach up and adjust my “virtual” hat. As someone said, let them try to figure out what you are doing,”

Day 29 - Healthy Day Hat

I do a couple things already that put me into the mindset:
1 - I log into Sparkpeople and do my 100 DWL lesson first things in the morning with my coffee.
2 - I eat a healthy breakfast: Same thing every day: Fiberone cereal, almond milk, yogurt & fruit.

I need to go a couple steps further with
3 - at least a 10 minute walk. It is not raining and is warmer this morning, so I think I will do it in a minute. A walk makes me feel better instantly and more resistent to temptations for the day.
4 - A glass of water in the morning. I've noticed on Sunday that I rush around getting ready for church and then don't have water until after church, and I stay a little thirsty while there even if I have coffee.

Today is a healthy Day!
Update: I did #3 and #4 after I typed this. I had lots of energy in the afternoon.

100 More DWL - Day 29 - Healthy day hat

emoticon Love the hat Phyllis, I wore my hat after Aqua as I don't like going out with wet hair

When you notice you’re slipping back into old patterns, here’s a great solution. Each morning, pretend you put on a “Healthy Day” hat. You could even put on a real hat if you wish. Then do five things that help you label the day as being a healthy one.

• Create a list of several things you will include in your plan today.
1. Start day with glass of water, followed my Lemon and Ginger tea
2. Talk to my children about household jobs they have agree to start doing
3. Visit my parents with my son
4. Go to my Aqua Aerobics class
5. Do some of the tasks on my list
6. Eat a healthy dinner (Chicken and Mushroom pie with vegetables)
7. Fill in food diary as soon as possible

• At the end of the day, check off the ones you accomplished. Celebrate that it was a healthy day.
1. Glass of water, followed my Lemon and Ginger tea - done
2. Successful discussion with my children - done
3. Nice talk with my parents - done
4. Went to my Aqua Aerobics class- done and loved it
5. Wrote list and completed 3 tasks on my list - done
6. Chicken and Mushroom pie with vegetables - done and very tasty
7. Fill in food diary as soon as possible - done

• Write the words “Today is a healthy day.”
I have to do this tomorrow as it is 6 pm today

• Create a list of several things you will include in your plan today.

-tomorrow is my birthday, and today my sister threw a party for me, and tomorrow my DD is going to make dinner for me at her place, so plenty of eating plentifully opportunities.
- today I skipped breakfast and had a very nice lunch at my sister's place. My niece and her boyfriend came and also my brother and a good family friend. I had planned to do a workout in the afternoon, but we ended up talking for a few hours after the meal and it was so worth it to spend some time with my niece, who is in college and busy and I don't see her often
- I had no breakfast, a plentiful lunch, and a steak and green salad, an orange, and kombucha to drink for dinner, so no doubt an over calories day
-tomorrow I plan to have a regular breakfast, a light lunch, and a plentiful, but not too big supper. I expect to be a bit over calorie cap
- after that I will go back to eating by intermittent fasting, planning my menus the night before, and doing my full planned workouts.
- I think I will make some plentiful eating to be okay for very special occasions, I am not able to eat under calorie cap on celebration days, it seems picky and miserly. I don't need to binge, I do enjoy eating a bit generously. I think eating carefully most of the time and being active is my sustainable plan, and sometimes I will not be under calorie cap, but I will eat healthy food mostly - does that sound like rationalization? Today's lunch regret was that I ate breadsticks, corn chips and crackers while waiting for lunch. Then I ate 2 small apples so I wouldn't eat more crackers while waiting for lunch, and I was hungry because I had not eaten breakfast. Lunch was salmon, lasagna, greek salad, green salad, steamed string beans, lightly grilled sliced zucchini, and cake.

• At the end of the day, check off the ones you accomplished. Celebrate that it was a healthy day.

- I didn't eat more than one piece of cake
- I didn't eat ice cream

non-accomplishments
- I did eat breadsticks, chips and crackers before lunch
- I did eat 2 servings of each salmon and lasagna
- I did eat a very large steak for dinner

what I could do better - not eat the crackers and chips and had fewer breadsticks
- not eat as big of portions

tomorrow, my real birthday, I plan to watch the portions and try to get all of my workout done
but I still think these occasions are rare, and it is more effective to stay on track on the regular days than it is to obsess about a few days, a small percentage of the total days, when I celebrate and eat more

Day 29 - Healthy day hat

When you notice you’re slipping back into old patterns, here’s a great solution. Each morning, pretend you put on a “Healthy Day” hat. You could even put on a real hat if you wish. Then do five things that help you label the day as being a healthy one.

Today

• Write the words “Today is a healthy day.”
Wrote the words “Today is a healthy day.” and posted on refrigerator. This should be an easy and fun day for everyone. I’ll try my best but it is a little more difficult when not feeling well. I’m sick with a cold and a nose that is constantly dripping like a faucet. Although I’m feeling miserable, this is a good opportunity to continue working on staying with my plan for living a healthy lifestyle. Maybe thinking “healthy day” will work magic for me and make me feel better sooner.

• Create a list of several things you will include in your plan today.
1. Have a healthy breakfast
2. Include extra Vitamin C in menu plan
3. Walk 60 minutes on treadmill
4. Have a restful nap after lunch
5. Allow myself to take it easy and put my strength into recovery
6. Eat a healthy dinner (barbecued chicken and small salad)
7. Have an early bedtime to get extra rest to help get well

• At the end of the day, check off the ones you accomplished. Celebrate that it was a healthy day.

I drank the water, put on my “healthy” hat because it’s windy outside, fed and watered the birds and checked out the bicycle that I borrowed from my neighbor.
Since I’m having lunch with my sisters and brother for his birthday I think I may need to reach up and fluff my ears on my healthy hat from time to time. (Virtually)! emoticon

DAY #29 HEALTHY HAT DAY - ROUND 2

Yesterday was labeled a Healthy Hat Day for me after having 2 days of slipping & sliding. I have heard many Sparkies voice their fear of weight regain after maintaining for so long. For me it is a bit more immediate of a situation since I am not yet at goal. For me I sometimes wonder with amazement at myself when, after SEVERAL DAYS of following my plan, I SUDDENLY SLIP and go off the rails!

We had a lesson at the beginning of our 100 day review that spoke to our fears of failing. I said I was not afraid because I was not going to fail! So when I have slipped I get "back on the wagon", "back on my narrow path", "back on my plan" by putting my HEALTHY HAT on.

My Healthy Hat includes:
- sticking to my "to do" list and not letting myself get distracted
- not allowing myself too much sitting time
- following my planned meals
- getting my 10 minute minimum fitness requirement done
- keep my schedule manageable so there is a bit of restful "me" time for reading, crafting, connecting with friends

I have a list of daily commitments and habits that I take stock of at the end of each day. That check-in helps me stay grounded and on the right path. When I don't follow that path chaos takes over. Like a "bad hair" day I cover it with my Healthy Hat!

The scale is down this morning, which makes me feel more like wearing my Healthy Day Hat!

I've already started my day with that glass of water - it's become a habit of mine. I'm not a good water-drinker, but that first one of the day is now established as a routine thing.

I've planned all my healthy meals for today - they're all healthy day meals

Exercise - well, I'll be active all day at work, and I'll get my hula hoop out this evening

I've eliminated my food fixes - I've got a few grapes in my lunch-bag which will be a nice treat, I also made myself some coconut 'fat bombs' to have as part of my meal at work - these will meet any emotional 'hunger' pangs

Instant nurturing - I use tea/coffee breaks at work to nurture myself. Taking a quick walk around the garden helps too.

Day 29 -- Healthy Day Hat

"Today is a healthy day."

• Create a list of several things you will include in your plan today.

1. A fruit and/or vegetable with every meal.
2. Drink 8 glasses of water.
3. Go to bed and get 6-8 hours sleep.
4. Use the nutritional tracker.
5. Read and Journal positive messages.

• At the end of the day, check off the ones you accomplished. Celebrate that it was a healthy day.

If I go to bed on time tonight, I will have done all of these things. I celebrate that today is a healthy day. Like Carolyn said... I may even wear my "tiara" or tea hat.

Thinking about my 'healthy hat' did help me at work today - I ate breakfast at about 9.45am, and had lunch around 1pm (I felt hungry for it in a way that I don't when I'm at home - so I know it's partly emotional!) because I have to fit around the work schedule.

Home by 5pm, I did my exercise routine first - then off to make my planned dinner. I'm hungry! But I'm still wearing my healthy hat! I'm going out this evening - I don't want to eat biscuits - just remembered I was supposed to take fruit with seeds - will get some berries on my way to the meeting!

Day #29 Healthy Hat Day

Starting my day off by putting on a Healthy Hat is an idea that I can add to my building list of other sayings available to me such as Today I Will - - -, Yes, I Care!, I Choose To - - -, My Hope Voice Says - - - !

Lately, I have been writing a Focus Statement in my journal every morning and a meal plan for the day along with what fitness is on my schedule. This has really helped set the tone for my day. I think this is the same as using the idea of a Healthy Hat.

Today I am really going to need my Hat. I am having the gals that are included in my Girl's Night Out over to enjoy our lovely new patio area. I am already feeling anxious about this. I have a list of things I want to do in preparation (too many things) and the weather conditions remain very humid which will make sitting outside tricky.

I will not let these feelings derail me! I am putting on my mental hat (because I don't have any real hats) and taking one step at a time today while remembering that it is about the friendship and not how clean my house is or how weed free my flowerbeds are.

100 More DWL , Day 29 Healthy day hat July 16 2018

When you notice you’re slipping back into old patterns, here’s a great solution.
Each morning, pretend you put on a “Healthy Day” hat. You could even put on a real hat if you wish. Then do five things that help you label the day as being a healthy one.
1. The magic glass of water
Each morning, start the day by drinking a glass of water. (That's one down already.) This immediately demonstrates that it's a healthy day.
2. One healthy meal
Eat a specific breakfast that you can count on as being healthy. Consider eggs and toast, or maybe oatmeal and fruit. After you've eaten one healthy meal, you're more likely to make good choices for the other meals in yourday.
3. Do a little bit of exercise
Even a short walk or a few minutes on a treadmill will work. I like the idea of pushing yourself to do ten minutes. After that, you can stay with it and keep going or quit for the day. Either way, you'll feel like a success.
4. Eliminate the food fix
Every time you head for the refrigerator or cupboard, remind yourself that your emotional needs, such as feeling anxious or stressed, are not going to be fixed by eating. Sure, it's kind of soothing, but in the long run, you'll just be upset and feel worse.
5. Instant nurturing
Make a short list of things that will calm or nurture you, such as sitting down with a cup of tea and forcing yourself to slow down a bit. Do at least one thing from your list each day.
By hanging the "Healthy Day" sign over your head each morning, you'll be inspired to stay with your diet or maintenance program successfully the rest of the day.
Today
• Write the words “Today is a healthy day.”
• Create a list of several things you will include in your plan today.
Today I will journal my food exchanges and my food
Today I will get a short walk in or even go to gym
Today I will drink my water
• At the end of the day, check off the ones you accomplished. Celebrate that it was a healthy day.
Today is a healthy day.
I will stay properly hydrated.
I will use my nutritional planner in advance.
I will stay within my allotted Exchanges
I will control my portions
I will exercise at least ten minutes. Or more
.
I celebrate that today is a healthy day by wearing my crown to celebrate

This is so perfect for me today! I've just had 9 days holiday from work which I really enjoyed - time for myself! Bliss!

Today, I'm up and out early, back to the frustrations of work where I meet most of my eating challenges - boredom, frustration, irritation, temptations, tiredness etc etc!

I have a fruity container of overnight oats for breakfast which I shall eat around 9am. I have a lunch-box of healthy, planned, food which will keep me going for the rest of the day.

I have two interesting herb tea bags - one is green tea and turmeric and lemon, the other is strawberry, white tea, chilli! I also have my filter water bottle, so I can get that water in all day long.

I have yoga and strength-training on my list for today - this will be after work today.

I'm good to go - wearing my healthy hat!

I'm not actually wearing this, but this trail running snood makes me feel 'tough'!

Today is a healthy day.

I will stay properly hydrated.
I will use my nutritional planner in advance.
I will stay within my allotted calories.
I will exercise at least twenty minutes.
I will stretch, relax and practice deep breathing.
I will take a nap if I need to.

I celebrate that today is a healthy day. I might even wear my "tiara" or tea party hat to celebrate.
