Day 7 - To be honest, I was not a fan of today's lesson, until I read your responses. I went over calorie range yesterday, but today, I was under by the same amount. So, I think I just proved to myself that I can do it. Weight loss is very much a mental game.

I'm coming up on 2 battles this weekend. #1 - Friday Lunch with 4 other people where I don't have much control. We are each bringing something. One person has beef brisket, another has dessert. I think I will bring a salad, and then only eat the brisket and salad. (10 minutes later - just realized I can cut back on dinner Friday night.)

#2 - Having friends for sandwiches on Saturday before going hiking. They are travelling 2 hours to see us. I still don't have a plan completely together, but I have some ideas.

Steven Siebold says our logical side tells us we can do it, our emotional side can overwhelm our logical side, and to prevent that, we need to build up our cheerleader self to defend ourselves against emotional feelings of not wanting to stay on the plan.
I used to think this was silly, just do it, but as I haven't been successful at just doing it in the past, I will try it. NO more emotional caving is what I am going for.

I can do it! because I believe in my ability to improve myself, I am already becoming healthier and stronger; I am aware of my eating habits and how to improve on that; I am aware of how exercise helps me feel positive and accomplished. I actually enjoy this process of loving myself, becoming a healthier, more fit me, and learning about everything that I need to do to live my own authentic life. I can imagine myself thinner, wearing clothes I really love and looking great in them and feeling more energetic.

I can do it!!!!
I quit smoking over 25 years ago with positive self talk. (every time I got a craving I would take a deep breath and say "I am a non smoker" over and over)
The cravings only last a minute or so.
I CAN DO ANYTHING for a few minutes.

I come back here for continued inspiration and reboots of what I know I need to do to protect my program. It's so easy to fall back into old, counter productive habits and to lose my focus and motivation. So glad this study started up again. Just what I needed.

I have kept this as a note on my phone and often bring it to mind.

'I live as if..............' comes from Day 90 of this book and I've found it more powerful, for me, than "I am............" affirmations.

I CAN DO THIS!

I can do this because; I'm prepared and I have a good plan to lose weight, I’m doing what I need to do to be successful, I have confidence in myself, I have realistic expectations, I won't be easily discouraged and trip over the same obstacles that I have in past attempts. I will do whatever I need to do to stay motivated, I deserve to have a fit and healthy happy life and be proud of myself, honey I’m worth it.

Thinking about these things daily will help me to stay motivated and focus on my goal.

Day #7 I Can Do It!

I can maintain this weight loss without gaining "just a few" (like 10!) pounds back. I'm totally determined!

I'm eating healthy food that tastes good and fills me up, so there is not going to be an issue with getting tired of it.

I'm loving how I feel in my clothes -- this is very powerful!

I'm capable of being vigilant on a day to day basis. Not that I'm going to even attempt to be rigid every day...yesterday for example was an out of town party with barbecue style food and lots of desserts. My vigilance was in the form of eating light and healthy for breakfast and lunch, then allowing myself reasonable servings of the food on offer at the party. I even enjoyed a serving of peach cobbler and a couple cookies. Passed on the wine and beer.

I thought today was a clear-cut and simple lesson, but all of your posts have been awesome which makes me think I might be missing something. My journal entry this morning went like this:

I CAN DO IT BECAUSE -

I am hopeful.

I am on a green streak.

I am invincible.

Nothing can stop me.

This time I am going to do it!

My "yes" will mean "yes".

…::I CAN and WILL … When I was in my 20's I got a "bad report" and prognosis from a physician who told me to prepare for the "worst and that I could expect to be in a wheel
chair and disabled by the time I reached my 40's!" … I said "NO I WONT and decades later,
I am still upright, walking, swimming, driving, cleaning my own home, and worked full time until shortly after turning 70! … Sometimes it is fun having the last word, especially when it comes to our own LIFE!

I can Do It, I can Do It

I Do this one daily with exercise, I can do it, I can do All Things Thru Christ!!, I can Do it,

I wouldn't make it otherwise. I really dont like to exercise much, I have chronic pain and its hard , period. I chant , I can do it, 5 minutes, 5 more minutes. etc etc

I need to use the I can do it more with food portions and water. I think it will help

I can do it, helped me tonight, I ate green vegetables for dinner, not my favorite cooked greens but I can do it and did!!!

I struggle with old negative tapes of all of my failures with weight loss, so this message is critical to combating them. So important, cannot say enough

Along with supportive community emoticon Today emoticon I'm making lists and tracking, so I can stick to my daily plans: #1 avoid temptations driving around town to visit doctors and get to work. Buddy has dental surgery and I have a dental exam the same week. emoticon Plus, my annual check-up with a new doctor. I still have flu symptoms and so tired but ~sometimes~ I cat nap instead of eating. Reminder to close my eyes and focus on my breating, I don't have to sleep but eating is not an option. Day 7, 100 days I can do it!!!

I can do this! even if it seems I'm faltering a bit, and not getting it done as fast as I might want, I can do it! I know I can do it -- because I've done it before -- and I've also done many other things that were really tough to do and took time and effort. Even though I've taken a few steps back on what I accomplished before ( by regaining some lost weight), I know I've learned valuable lessons that will aid me in maintenance this time around.

What is so wonderful about this time through the book is that I totally know and believe I can lose weight and live healthily. I have tools, I wondrously have a bit of a handle on feelings, and coming back to 100 Days gave me the opportunity to realize why I had been overeating!

Day 7, 100 days I can do it!!!

I agree with most of my last ideas but will try to keep emoticon words out loud or in my head when I need it!

I agree with Wanda and Susan "I can do it" because I am worth it and with Phyllis that keeping going through the 100 day journey more 'sticks' in our 'behaviours and strength!'

OMG, look at this! Here I am again; almost one post right after another emoticon !

Well, I want to say YES I CAN! I CAN DO IT!

One of the main frustrations I have with weight loss it the guilt and fretting that comes with so many bites of food or drink. Something that I really need to conquer is being more mindful of my eating behaviors. If I can learn this, I will be eating and drinking with intention and that will not lead to the guilty feelings I have.

For example, yesterday I spent the day with a gf at a Women's Expo event. There were several food vendors giving out samples. I passed by many of them without a th,ought, but then we came to a booth giving samples of Bundt Cake which my friend had bought at another event just a week before. She tells me "Oh, you have got to try this Bundt Cake. It is sooooo good!". So that is what we did - 1 bite sized sample that I popped into my mouth without a thought followed by another sample because I didn't even taste the first one! Followed by yet another sample some time later because this time it was chocolate and I wanted to see if it tasted any better than the confetti flavored ones I had earlier.

It amazes me what I can talk myself in to! The lesson for my, though, is about guilty feelings. I know there are always samples at this kind of event. I allowed myself the pleasure of some of them, but I passed many others up. I also stuck to my food plan for the rest of the day and really used my resistance muscles that night when thoughts about snacking popped into my head. I am giving myself credit for all of the good things I did instead of focusing on just the things I could have done better.

I CAN DO IT! ! ! YES I CAN! ! ! I KNOW I CAN! ! !

I got my days screwed up and actually had read Day 7 on Day 6 which I quickly corrected when I saw Gills post for Day 6. Then I got side tracked and didn't get around to posting until today (which is Day 9).

I'm the last to post, but thought I should do it for future referencing. After some reading every one else's posts and giving this some thought I finally decided that -

I CAN DO THIS BECAUSE I SAID I WOULD AND SO I WILL!

I have a tendency to be stubborn when I get pushed. I need to put that characteristic to good use in reaching my weight loss goal!

Day 7, I can do it!!!

The first time through I really didn't think I could do some of those things but now I know:

I can be consistent
I can stay within my calorie range
I can replace unhealthy choices with healthy ones and not feel deprived
I can exercise every day...at least a little
I can motivate myself

I do find that having inspiring quotes and motivators posted on my computer, or refrigerator does help me.

exercise today - 90 minutes of serious cleaning top to bottom in my office!

I also feel the same as I did when I did this lesson before. I am not one to say affirmations out loud or have post-it notes all over the place. I can write them down on one card though,and read them each day...so that’s what I will try to do as part of my morning routine.

I can because I want to be fit and healthy to enjoy the rest of my life
I am committed
I have done it before and am therefore capable
I am persistent and won’t ever give up!
I am motivated and supported by this wonderful team!
I am worth it!

Day 7 – I can do it!

I just re-read the entire thread - and I still find that affirmations don't work for me, because I'm not willing to repeat things over and over to myself every day, or live my life with sticky-notes everywhere! The power of success, for me, is in the actions I take. And I've learned to manage my actions by changing my habitual behaviours.

Here are my healthy habits that enable me to do it! (copied from my July post)

I follow the habit of running
I follow the habit of daily strength training (Darebee)
I follow the habit of updating my Spark status every day

I can also do it thanks to the amazing power of the internet, and the sharing of knowledge about how to change, how to motivate myself, how to be accountable - what works for me etc.

I have to be diligent about caring for myself. 100 DAYS OF WEIGHT LOSS is a great way for me to keep focused. Day 1 is July 1, 2017. Build habits to produce success. Most of these habits I have at least tried before but did not sustain. First habit: delay eating by using a timer.

Day 7, I Can Do It!!!

It took me awhile but now I can actually say "I Can Do It". I had to figure out what worked for me and there were ups and downs, still are occasionally. I had to learn to change things up and tweak my program occasionally. Once I had the framework in place the hard work began and I had to start forming habits. Now the habits are so important that I feel guilty if I let down.

Like........we need more guilty feelings, right? Well feeling guilty about skipping something good for me is better than feeling guilty because I'm not doing anything good for me!

This book takes me through a process I need in order to stay focussed on my health and I'm so glad to have so many great people to enjoy "100 Days" with.

Day 6 Strength - Everyday Body workout video - one full week done - trying a new one tomorrow.

tomorrow reviewing boundaries and planning on taking one I posted and working it until it becomes habit.
