Round 1, Day 7 - 100 Days of Weight loss by Linda Spangle
Today is about writing affirmations to reinforce that "I can do it".
I can do it because:

emoticon I was a Cheerleader Coach 8+ yrs - now I can be that Coach for myself!!!

emoticon I have everything I need to accomplish my goals right here at home: support of hubby, son, Spark Buddies, good water & food, treadmill & gym, hot tub

emoticon I'm a planner, organizer, executor, I accomplish anything I want to and I am now an exerciser! Other people count on me - I always achieve huge events how much more important is it when I'm the event - I will apply that SAME level of dedication, commitment, and perseverance to me - I can count on me!

emoticon 34 years ago, I was in wt lifting for 6 yrs weighing maintaining around 130. I did it before - I can do it again. I can have muscular definition again.

emoticon Being physically a healthy weight causes me to prolong and/or avoid complications from diabetes like heart attack, stroke, nerapathy, amputation, kidney dialosis, blindness, as well as physical problems of feet/knee/hip/back problems

emoticon Because I want to help others/do big events easier, put shoes & socks on easily, care for my feet easier, be able to walk (easier/endurance) on beach/shopping/golf/etc with family & friends, use any seat belt (car/plane/amusement rides), wear clothes from any store and look good in shorts/swimsuit/dresses, fit in restaurant booths, cross legs, be able to kayak/golf/volleyball easier. Thankfully I have no physical limitations but being obese limits me physically

Plan it, Do it, Evaluate it, Fix it, Celebrate it, Repeat it, Go for it!
Be committed ~ Do what it takes to have what I want!

Day 7 -- I can do it!!!!

I can eat healthy and enjoy it!!
I can make clean food choices!!!
I can exercise 5-6 days a week ... and appreciate it!!
I am capable of moving more and more and more.
I will reach my goal weight in 2015!!!
I am cancer free and will stay that way.

Gill - My Fitbit is acting as a reminder/reference point at present. 'I'm wearing this because...'
It is definitely helping because the exercise alone will be of limited value if my eating is all over the place.

My Day 7s are: I can and I will do it because

# I'm getting more in touch with myself every day.
# When I take care of myself, I feel great.
# I'm competent and equipped with the knowledge to make good choices.
# I'm strong and I'm worthy of time, care and attention.

Linda's right - I am afraid that I'll repeat those old patterns. But just 'squash those thoughts' doesn't seem so easily done to me. My doubts are stronger than the affirmations 'I can do it'

My brain says 'do what?'

I'm thinking I need something solid - an object of reference - to remind me. But I've not been able to come up with an object of reference I could use for 'don't eat the chocolate'

I will try hanging onto the phrase 'I am sticking to my plan because I want the results' or even writing 'REMEMBER' on my hand might work.

I can DO it because:
This time I am focused on FINISHING - no more starting over again and again.
I am so determined!

Well of course I can do it. I have done it before. I lost 37 - 40 pounds but I have plateaued out because of "interest" not "commitment" . Now my self talk isn't great so I am planning on focusing on the positive talk that is recommended.

I ca do it because:

I want to be proud of my weight loss at my next doctor's appt. in October.

I can do it! When it comes down to it, I am the one doing this. I have to be my cheerleader and encourage myself with positive self talk. I like the suggestion of reading success stories. I am always encouraged by them. That is one thing great about this site is we can encourage each other in this journey.

I can do it because: My body is depending on me to take care of her.
I can do it because: I want to maintain my mobility.

WoW…one week down…WooHoo!!!! I CAN DO IT!!!!

Although I am unsure if I am losing this third week being back on SP (because it doesn’t feel like it), I am still keeping within my calorie limit. It’s so weird, but I am not upset about it. If I do not lose this week, I am just going to eat differently - more veggies and fruit and less carbs and meat. I am going forward.

Self-talk – I was just reading a person’s blog where she was talking about self-talk and how negative we can be toward ourselves. Most of us are very, very hard on ourselves and it truly limits us. As I think on it, I can’t imagine that people, like Donald Trump, confine themselves to negative self-talk. People like him just seem to “do”. They have an outward and inner confidence that propels them forward. And even if they might have a negative thought or two, it doesn’t stop them from going forward. They have a propensity toward success. It doesn’t mean they are always successful – just that most of the time they are. What does this tell the rest of us who limit ourselves to the negative mantras swirling around in our head?

Spangler talks about becoming our own cheerleader and repeating a positive mantra each day anywhere from at least 10 times to maybe up to 100 times daily. It is funny cause on Day 2, when I got weak, I repeated to myself over and over, “Am I just interested or committed?” It really helped. She says to “think about why you are so convinced you can be successful”; then, write, post, and verbally recite it everywhere.

So my goal starting today will be to read my phrases frequently, using them to strengthen my goals and build excitement/passion. By doing this, I am allowing these positive affirmations to reach the recesses of my mind. Some phrases to repeat daily to reinforce my determination are:

emoticon I can do this because, “I’m totally determined.”
emoticon I can do this because “I’m capable of accomplishing anything.”
emoticon I can do this because “Others have done it and so can I!”
emoticon I can do this because I am a woman who likes to accomplish my goals.
emoticon I can do this because I am worthwhile and deserve to be thin.
emoticon I can do this because I deserve to feel good about myself.
emoticon I can do this because I want to be proud of myself.
emoticon I can do this because I want to be healthier than I am.
emoticon I can do this because I want to lower my blood pressure.
emoticon I can do this because when I accomplish this, I can strut my stuff.

Yes that is my mantra for now & from now on.
I got Hallowwen candy..even though we live in the sticks..heck got it for the hubby.
He is a junk food junkie from way back.
Walked past that bowl of goodies so many times now that I actually forgot what was in it or that it even was there.
Am starting to think that is the secret to avoiding temptation...just forget it is there.

Excellent observation Margo.

I find myself wishing we could zip past the *food* (holidays) coming up to the New Year when I usually start fresh with goals, etc (& a new diet! LOL ;)

I need to work on the present, living through it :)

When I think about it, 100 days seems so long but it's only a bit over 3 months. That never seems very much when I visit the doctor every 3 months; I see him on Wednesday this coming week and then I'll see him in February, before I go down to Florida (if we go this year). I often fool myself into thinking I'll pay attention to "this" shiny, new 3 month period but, since it's so new, I'll wait a few days, I'll start next week, I still have a month to go, etc. I always do the maybe this next one I'll do "it". I'm trying to live in a borrowed future I never get to!

I did the past 100 days, I know I can do 100 days time emoticon (no prison uniforms :-) but this 100 days I'm going to live as they come up, not next week, month, or next 100 days.

Hi there,

I can do it..... sounds hollow to me after the day I've had foodwise. Haven't even tracked all the food. I eat cr*p and feel cr*p. When will I ever learn.

But as I'm on my way to bed I will think on this phrase and start to become my own cheerleader. Sounds a bit American to me ~ but, hey! *smile*

I can do it as I've done it before. And this time will be better.

I can do it as Slimming World is the best eating plan ever.

I can do it becuase its enjoyable and not a chore.

I can so do this because I am worth it.

I can do this because my health, and Pickle's health, matters.

I can do this as I love proving people wrong!

I can do this becuase I am in charge.

I can so do this as its better than the alternative. This is the easier, softer way!

Now to bed with positive cheerleading thoughts going round my head. Hope to hold on to these in the morning!

emoticon i can do this

in the past, i was not used to cheering for me... i think we are all too often taught not to toot our own horn... and not only that but over time, as I tried to diet and failed so many times, i kind of quit believing along the way. It is still hard and I am still struggling, so I think this is a truly important skill to practice. Sometimes we just need to fake it til we make it, and if we keep repeating this mantra to ourselves, eventually we will believe it... (think click red shoes together and repeat "there's no place like home" Dorothy and b4 u know it you'll be home :)

I struggled the past two days since seeing my mom. But, I just vented on our previous day's thread and i'm getting past it now. Felt good to just get it all out. So, today i'm back on track totally and committed to myself and my present and future. I've got a lot of chores to do today and also am going to make jam with the fresh strawberries I have. I'll have healthy meals all day and also healthy snacks. I dont' feel like binging now. I'll probably do the elliptical at some point and if not, i'll still get in my 30 min. on the treadmill this evening. Looking forward to another great week! I've been tossing the idea around of not weighing myself for the rest of this challenge. I tend to do better when I don't weigh because I don't want to 'mess up' my end results by overeating. lol. And, my digital scale just broke 2 days ago. And, when I get close to getting under 200 I ALWAYS sabotage myself! So, maybe it would be better to just not know when I get to that mark and well below it. I think i'm going to try it. I haven't 'not' weighed myself nearly every day, for a long long time. Back when I didn't have any weight issues. So, I think that will be my goal and plan of action. It will be hard not to cheat and look. I can still use the wii fit scale..and did the past two mornings. haha. Weight was a little down so i'm inching back to the 200 mark. yikes.
