Day 3 -- Do It Anyway

1. In your diet or exercise plan, identify a task you don’t feel like doing, and then do it anyway! Record it here.

I don't like rowing every day, it is something I am trying to do to improve my fitness and my steadfastness. I like rowing, I just rebel against rowing every day once I have made it my plan. I love making plans, I rebel against doing the plan a very short time into the plan.

2. Notice how it feels to accomplish a goal by taking a “no matter what” approach to it. Describe your reaction.

Yesterday I had a very busy day, I had time to row after supper, instead I sat down to watch some tv and relax. BUT I have decided on a few very few easy things to push through and do anyway on these 100 Days just for character building - eat to lose weight, row every day (easy, just have to do 15 minutes, the hard part is doing it every day) and go to bed by 10:30 and don't play any computer games. I am tempted to add don't eat any nuts, because that is the most fattening thing in my house that is easy to eat and so costly calorie wise.

Last night after lounging for a while and before going to bed, I rowed for 15 minutes and I felt so good about pushing through and getting it done.
Today I took the opportunity to row when I had to go to the Leisure Centre to drop off some Tai Chi flyers instead of rowing at home later. Done. It does feel childish that I have struggles with such easy things, oh well, for theses 100 day, this is my journey and my goals.

3. Make a list of several actions you plan to stick with today, regardless of how you feel at the moment.

Things I will do NO MATTER WHAT:

- eat to reach optimum weight - losing weight is 80% nutrition and 20% exercise
- go to bed by 10:30
- row daily for 15 minutes
- don't play computer games
- don't eat any nuts (just for 100 days)(because nuts are nutritious, but my main kryptonite right now)

June -- Pacific Time Zone
Where you end up is more important than how fast or where you start out.
- Improved fitness and nutrition, energy and confidence are my rewards.
It is our choices...that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.
A PH (personal high) is the main goal, a PB is the sometime icing on the cake.
Never underestimate the inevitability of gradualness.
Sopra le nebbie delle valle e le vicende della vita sorge una promessa di luce e serenita.

I did not want to ride my stationary bike or do ST this morning but I did it anyway. I did not want to do some of the things on my to do list but so glad for organizing several cup boards. On my list was yoga which I will do now. emoticon

Wow! Y'all are pushing hard! In a good way.
Day 3 - DO it anyway - This morning I didn't feel like walking. I did it anyway. I was glad I took the time even though the rest of my morning was rushed. I felt better and upped my metabolism.

The rest of the day plan regardless of how I feel:
Drink 8 glasses of water. (Working on that now at 8:45 pm)
Yoga stretching in the evening. (Will do in a couple minutes)

This morning I didn't feel like getting up when my phone woke me at 6:15. My Wednesday plan lately has been 45 min yoga class at the Y followed by 45 minutes cardio laps in the cold competition pool. I always feel so good afterwards, but this morning I was really tired. Stayed up too late. I hit the snooze for 10 minutes and told myself "I will do it anyway"! I knew I could easily fall back asleep, but would regret it later. I promised myself an afternoon nap and made it to the Y. We had a sub for yoga that was emoticon and I'm so glad I didn't miss it! I felt energetic and awake all morning and an added bonus is that I didn't laze around the house all morning with a vague sense of dread of an afternoon home workout hanging over me.

I've got dinner and evening snack planned. I won't want to deny myself the salted mixed nuts this evening, but I will do it anyway. I know that once I get started, it's downhill after that. The food I've planned is fillling, healthy, and tasty.

This lesson goes hand-in-hand with yesterday's: being committed means I will do the things I don't want to do, no matter what. Today I went to lunch with friends, which means I had celery and cherry tomatoes for Dinner so that I didn't go over my calorie/carb limit.

Today

~ in your diet or exercise plan, identify a task you don't feel like doing, and then do it anyway!
don't feel like exercising pretty often
don't feel like drinking water sometimes
don't feel like preparing healthy meals as opposed to just grab and eat things

~ notice how it feels to accomplish a goal by taking a "no matter what" approach to it.
this week I've been doing it anyway and it does feel great to accomplish those important tasks.

~ make a list of actions you plan to stick with today, regardless of how you feel at the moment.
I will track what I plan on eating today and stick with it
I will drink 3 liters of water
I will get in at least 30 minutes of exercise this evening.

I'm so impressed and motivated with everyone's posts.

Zucchini boats - sounds delicious!

10 minute streaks are the norm for me and that's a good thing. I get in some form of exercise in 10 minute increments. That's a Win for me!

I worked yesterday. Had to take my GD to dance class. Stopped by my brother's house to feed his cat (who totally ignored me!). When I got home I was just plain old tired. I'd been up and going since 5:30. Made myself a cup of coffee. Before I knew it I had to pick my GD up from dance class. Her mom was at work. I thought - well, I'm hungry now and she'll want a snack because she didn't eat before class. She'd been dancing for almost 3 hours! Burned up some calories for sure. Decided we'll just run through McD's. My focus was on French fries - salt. emoticon My GD said 'Can we stop somewhere for a salad? Sounds good to me.' We went through the drive thru at Panera Bread Co. Delicious salad. Healthy choice. Water. I did it!!

And so did all of you - emoticon

Day 3, 100 Days Do It Anyway!

I am very good at Overthinking and Procrastinating but determined not to do either today!

I wanted to go to a walk but wasn't in the mood, really enjoyed my Chronic Club today and met at new person but when my MiL kept falling asleep I decided to take the opportunity to go for that 30 minute walk, I was very aware of all my 5 senses too which made it a Win Win! I have also done my Food Planner for the week and Planner for today, completing the walk and my food planning, diary completion made me feel more confident and happy!

DAY #3 DO IT ANYWAY

When you find yourself thinking: "I don't want to"

I can push myself to get a task done. I know this because that is what I have to do when I find I have procrastinated too long! In the past I have easily put tasks/commitments to myself on the back burner, but this year I have done better at "sticking to my guns". HOWEVER, there is always room for improvement!

I am committed to losing weight so I will:

1. Stick with my plans no matter what
2. Take action whether I feel like doing it or not
3. Know that when I stay motivated, results will follow
4. Take responsibility for my own actions
5. Keep going in spite of challenges and setbacks

I discovered that having a Streak for 10 minutes of fitness was a real motivator for me. So I reset my streak setting this morning and plan to keep a 100% result going! My mantra will be:

NO MATTER WHAT - DO IT ANYWAY!

Today my challenge is my Garden Club's "Member's Garden" Walk. We will be visiting some the gardens of some of our members followed by lunch at a local restaurant. As if another restaurant meal isn't bad enough, in the past member's have had little treats for us to snack on while we wonder through their garden. At first I thought about skipping breakfast because I find these treats to hard to resist, but I rethought my plan. I will have something healthy to eat. I will skip the treats. I will choose a salad for lunch. I have a healthy dinner (Zucchini Boats) planned for dinner. And I will make sure I get at least 10 minutes of walking done tonight!

Day #3 Do it Anyway
Just reading the title always brings exercise to my mind.
Daily I must focus on the task (exercise) not my feelings about it.

Because I am a creature of habit I am committed to a “walking meditation” every evening for the 100 Days of this book.
I’m finding it is a time of calming, gratitude for my life, and joy in nature.

I am committed to losing weight so I will
  1. Stick with my plans no matter what
  2. Take action whether I feel like doing it or not
  3. Know that when I stay motivated, results will follow
  4. Take responsibility for my own actions
  5. Keep going in spite of challenges and setbacks

"Focus on your actions, not just your feelings"

I had a great 'do it anyway' experience yesterday!

I came home from work (after a team meeting) at 2.30pm with a headache, and the weather looked like it might rain. I didn't 'feel like' carrying out my plan to cycle 6 miles out and 6 miles back over the moor to go to an event.

BUT - because I've learned so much from doing these workbooks, I made myself a cup of tea (for a bit of caffeine!), took some paracetamol, filled a water bottle - put my rain jacket in my rucksack - and off I went.

I had a brilliant afternoon - I was home by 5 pm. I got my 12 miles cycling done (including walking up the hills!), and I felt so good about myself for achieving this. Also, my headache went away and didn't return.

So, today, building on that success, I am at work until 6.30pm, but have planned to do my plank workout this evening, and 10 mins hula-hooping to music.

I probably won't feel like it when I get home from work - but I'll do it anyway!

Day 3 Do It Anyway! - - - I get lazy about tracking. If I have time to shop and cook, I have time to track. I can identify strengths and weakness in my program. Too many carbs, too little A, B, C, D3, E, K2 vitamins?
Do it anyways! - write-it before bite-it - may not eat-it!

I like the idea of putting actions before my feelings. The biggest problem I have with making myself "do it anyway" is exercise. I don't feel motivated to do it and I don't enjoy it. Some people actually like it. Exercise is supposed to release endorphins that make you feel good. Maybe I've never stuck with a routine long enough to get to that point because all I feel is tired and sore afterward. I've heard that it takes 30 days to form a good habit and only 3 days to break it. What I need to do is take on a "do it anyway" attitude and exercise for 30 days. Maybe it will become a healthy habit instead of something I dread.

I love this DO IT ANYWAY approach: I don't know why, but this concept help me overcome any excuses I might have. And I know from past experience that once I accomplish something good for me that I didn't feel like doing I feel 2x prouder with myself

From now on I'll do my best to FOCUS ON MY ACTIONS INSTEAD OF MY FEELINGS.

Today I plan to:

- Exercise;
- Cook healthy meals;
- Study;
- Make myself a green juice (I think it's something beneficial for me, I even like it a lot, but simply I'm usually too lazy to prepare it: TODAY I'LL DO IT ANYWAY)

I love reading the reponses posted on here. Lots of things I didn't even think about.

Today, no matter what excuse I conjure up in my head, I am going to do it all anyway.

I am going to stick to my macro/calorie goal.
I am going to work out after work.
I am going to clean the house a bit, have a nourishing supper and go to bed early.
No matter what.

Do it anyway!! I'm so glad to have read this lesson several times.
It has served me well this year as I struggled with my health. I would say "Do it anyway" to myself to push through the day.
I found that it really is true that I feel sicker if I stay in pajamas all day....so get dressed anyway!
I found that if I made my bed first thing in the morning....I didn't get back into it...so do it anyway!
I found that simple routines like combing my hair, and a lipstick made me look better...tired? Well do it anyway!

There were a lot more examples throughout each day..."Do It Anyway" encouraged me to hang on to my smile, project a positive attitude, and do what I could do.

Thanks team and Thanks to Linda Spangle too!

I'm with you, Maria - forgiving myself is something I've learned by doing this book a few times!

Paula - I totally agree, especially with swimming - it's the hassle of the getting undressed, wet, then having to get dry and dressed and get home again.... puts me right off! But I can roll along to yoga alright - just change into my leggings.

Renee - you did really well ordering that salad. I wonder if the fries will haunt you........... that's what tends to happen to me if I resist something; it can play on my mind and I find myself eating it a few days later!

Do it anyway!

I try to apply this to exercise, and did great for a while, but fizzled out. Time to apply this again...

and yesterday, at Wendy's I was tempted to get a burger and fries, it's been AGES since I've had that. I really didn't want a salad, but I ordered a salad anyway and I'm glad I did :)

Sometimes the thought of doing all it takes to get a workout in will almost stop me before I even begin to do the actual workout. If I'm wanting to swim some laps at the Y, I'll think about having to get into my suit, pack change of clothing, drive into town, hope I can find a lane, then at first the water is so cold.....and on and on. Or if I want to do a spin ride at home, I've got to set the fan up, fill a water glass, change clothes, choose music. Once I actually begin the workout it goes by fast.

The hardest part of the process is starting. I've always liked the "just do it" idea, and in my own thoughts it's "just put one foot in front of the other" and do the first action that will be required to get me where I want to be. Taking that first step seems to get the momentum started to "do it anyway", even if I'm trying to talk myself out of it.

Today's "do it anyway" was getting in my yoga and laps early this morning at the Y, because our big job today was to get all our outdoor potted plants carried to and then arranged in the greenhouse. DH and I spent 4 hours this afternoon and got the job done. Oh my aching back! It was very physical moving the plants, but I'm so much happier to have gotten my "real" workouts in. emoticon I definitely had to talk myself into them this morning when the alarm clock went off though. First step was getting out of bed and making a cup of coffee and putting my water out in the car -- then all the other actions got easier and easier.

I've learned that the more I do what I know I need to do to reach and maintain my goals the more it becomes habit-like. The more habit-like it becomes the easier it becomes to repeatedly do it.

Through repeated times through studies like this one, I've built up slowly some good habits that I can do. It's one day at a time and I don't always "do it anyway" but I forgive myself and get right back on track asap.

Oh this is a good one. For me its all of it, tracking ,exercise and staying away from my trigger foods, that I have to do no matter what. It all seems hard and I have to be committed and do it one day at a time , no matter what, and just take action and not give into feelings.

I struggle with significant chronic pain and I daily do not feel well and have pain, every day, day in day out. fatigue, pain. BUT I feel better in long run if I do the above. Extra weight just makes the pain worse and my blood pressure high. So if I just follow my feelings I will never do anything, today I am different, No Matter what!!

Yesterday was a good no matter what day, I did not want to but I exercised, struggling with every minute of it. Yea Today was warm out and easier to get out and walk with dog. Another day of exercise done! YAHOO!!

Day 3, 100 Days Do It Anyway!

I have just reviewed my post from last year's challenge and it is similar! However I am still working well on my food diary and meal planning, okay so its only been 6 days. I have kept to my planned syns today

To Do It Anyway today was something not related to food/exercise, I decided this morning that I had to call a plumber about my en suite toilet and looking out of the window saw a plumber across my road at the house of someone new who has just moved in. I got 'brave' and 'did it anyway' and went over introduced myself and asked if she had a plumber and if I could have a word with them. Later they came over and fixed the problem so it was so worth Doing it Anyway!

Once again I went to a Pilates class today, I haven't been to it for ages and saw 4 people there I hadn't seen for ages, once again I Did it Anyway when I wasn't sure if going today was a good idea. emoticon

Day #3 Do It Anyway

When I see or hear the phrase JUST DO IT I don't think I associate it with those buff people I see at the gym and in ads. Some times it is the very thing I need to hear! JUST DO IT, Sue! Get Your Butt In Gear! My brain seems to be the kind that needs to get shook up in order to pay attention. The kinder version, Do It Anyway, would just flight right over, out of sight, and out of mind.

When I was contemplating today's lesson I thought to myself - You do this in all kinds of other areas of your life, Sue, so why can't you seem to do it as you should with your food and fitness plan? Well, I don't seem to know the answer to that question right now. I am really hoping this review of 100 DWL will shed some light on it for me in the days ahead.

Meanwhile, I am going to follow Linda's recommendation to FOCUS ON MY ACTIONS INSTEAD OF MY FEELINGS and take a few steps each day that will move me forward towards my goal.

I like how you worded it Gill: When you hear your inner voice whining "I don't feel like it........" try telling it, gently, kindly, with love................ "Do it anyway darling, you'll feel better" .

Today I have two events with food challenges where I will be able to implement our assignment - resist the Garlic Bread and the Wine. Also, I need to make sure I get to the Y for my Elliptical Routine. And, somehow, I need to find the time to get outside and finish up my garden winterizing. I'm really not "feeling" like doing this because it is cold, damp, and windy outside today, but guess what - I will DO IT ANYWAY!

Day 3, 100 days I don't feel like it, but did it anyway

When I first started using the nutritional planner, I didn't feel like it, but did it anyway. Now I'd be lost without it.

When I realized that I was going to do my Pilates 100's 'no matter what', I felt more in control of my body. It felt awesome when I finished.

Today I will stay within my alloted nutritional plan, drink my water and get enough rest. I've already done my exercise early and I feel great!

Joy is a Choice. Choose joy moment by moment.

When all else fails, persistence prevails.

There's a lot going on at the moment (as if that's not true for every other person here? LOL) and I've got a feeling of not being at my best to forge into "being committed" or "I will do this or that -- no matter what". Today was only 3 principal tasks I set for myself. Can't describe the mental fog trying to figure out which one to do first. But it did help me to say "I am committed to this, and I will do it (exercise, food tracking) anyway". It helped me to tell myself to put one foot in front of the other and act as if I really did have it all together. Although I felt as if I was plodding for much of the day, I still accomplished so more than I would have otherwise.

And, of course, this is exactly what the lesson is all about. emoticon

Some habits I keep going because I know I absolutely need to. Others quietly slip away. Today I purchased and prepared fresh veggies and put them front and center. I put the chips out for others to finish. 3 times so far I have had some water or tea to drink instead of something to eat...Only once was I actually hungry. Really didn't want to do those things but I know I need to so I did it anyway. emoticon emoticon

Day 3, 100 Days Do It Anyway!

Keeping my food diary has become challenging but today I will do it anyway today!

1. I didn't feel like planning for my week's eating or creating a jobs list but I did it anyway.

2. Accomplishing a goal with "no matter what" approach.
I wrote my food plan for the week and my diary and kept to my intended syns today
emoticon
Esp pleased that I didn't emotionally eat this morning when an issue arose!

3. Other 'No matter what' things
- go to my Pilates class - really enjoyed new routine too.
- stay on plan, knew there were going to be syns in my lasagne but didn't eat more to
"compensate" as I do sometimes.
- doing the things on my 'jobs list' meant my mood improved! :-)

I have been struggling to stick to my plan for a few days now and last night it all culminated in poor eating behaviors as I anticipated a stressful evening with my 91 yr. old dad.
HOWEVER - since I AM COMMITTED - I will be getting back on track today!

Today's lesson confirmed what I already know. I "just do it" most of the time, but not all of the time and that results in lack of progress towards reaching my weight loss goal. My calendar is filled with many social activities and they all seem to revolve around alcohol and food. Social drinking frequently results in poorer eating behavior. Therefore, it is my plan to cut back on my alcohol consumption and track my progress on a calendar.

Yesterday I wanted to have a snack. But I followed my plan.
I am off today due to snow. Sometimes being home makes it more challenging mentally as far as sticking to my plan. There is food here.

I can wait to have chocolate or other sweets. I can always have it if I really want it, but I know I will feel horrible afterwards.

I have watched that TED talk by Mel Robbins several times - I love how she says "you're never going to FEEL like it!" and, as you say, SLENDERMAMA - the 5-second rule; you have to act before your mind kicks in and says "maybe not....." Here's a link if you're curious!

This is why Spark's small goal of getting up without pressing 'snooze' is a useful one - that snooze gives you more than 5 secs, then getting up becomes even harder than it was when the alarm went off!

Gosh, sounds like several people are struggling with physical challenges - being creative about exercise when one part of you isn't working well, is hard. I often wonder what/how I would get my cardio done if I couldn't run.

Cheryl, Good luck with your house 'replacement' (what does that mean exactly?) and yard sale etc. I hope your son is OK?

Day 3 - Do it anyway

Spent my morning walking time taking my youngest son to the Dr. He woke up with a severe back spasm. Needed to make sure the pain wasn't from kidney stones ( family has a history of them) and to get him some treatment. Kind of threw off my schedule for the day. I did spend the rest of the day packing up the house and getting ready for a yard sale this weekend. Tomorrow will be more of the same. Yard sale Fri. & Sat. then finishing packing for the temporary move to our daughter's for 2 months while our home is replaced. Then reverse the process ( without the yard sale). It may be the end of next week until I have any kind of regular schedule but will keep the day's lessons in mind and do my best to incorporate them.

Lots of activity but no scheduled exercise time.

There’s a great TED talk by Mel Robbins on the “5 second rule”.

Do what you gotta do within 5 seconds of the idea popping into your head or you’ll talk yourself out of it.

I have been using the 5 second rule to get out of bed at 5 am every day and drag myself to the gym . Once I’m out of bed it’s fine. It’s just that initial inertia. If I give myself more than 5 seconds the escuses win.

Just do it. In the first five seconds.

I will do this.

you don't have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step.

I woke up way too early this morning (before 4 AM) and couldn’t go back to sleep because my knee was hurting me. On Wednesdays I usually go to the gym for an hour class called Group Active that starts at 7:35. I love our instructor but she is on vacation so there was going to be a substitute (just not as good with someone else!) I started to talk myself out of going, but I remembered today’s lesson and knew I had to “do it anyway.” I had to go easy with my knee for a bit but I did it and felt great afterwards!

What I want to do is move more in the afternoon and evening. I have to get off my butt and “just do something!” I am going to play cards at a neighbor’s from 6 to 9 tonight. That’s a lot of sitting! I decided to walk there - it’s not too far but it’s better than being lazy and taking my golf cart! It’s a beautiful night here in Florida!

I have had knee surgery and I have not been consistent with exercises recommended ...and after two months, my knees are still giving me some problem. I don't want to do the exercises...or find excuses for not doing them, but I MUST DO THEM ANYWAY if I want to improve. This morning I woke up and did the leg lifts, knee muscle squeezes and ankle flexing before I got out of bed. I then put a TV show on and watched while I rode my stationary bike. I ride longer if I have something to keep my brain occupied. The doctor says it is the best exercise for recovery. I then did the hamstring stretches and went on to get ready for the day. Now to do this again and again...be consistent and DO IT ANYWAY whether I feel like it or not.

I wanted a lie-in this morning - it's my day off today. But I'd also promised myself I'd go for a run. So I put on my running togs and went for a run! Once I got going, I felt great!

I also completed some strength-training this evening which I was trying to 'forget' - but I did it anyway!

I'll sleep well tonight.

Do it anyway . . .

I am an avid reader - mysteries, some romance, spiritual, self help (like Yoga Journal). I'm so happy that I continue my 'healthy addictions.' I read a little of my recently delivered Yoga Journal this morning with my coffee. Always find wonderful articles - meditation was my happy, so I glad I read this, article this morning. It's wonderful for stress reduction and who doesn't have stress? It's all about breathing. Love my healthy addiction!

In other words, partly for me it's taking time for myself, relaxing, and making myself important.

"When you become aware you become responsible" Love that, Maria! I am going to use it too.

I also share your goal to get through the holidays with healthy habits intact!

Do it Anyway~~ Again I loved reading everyone's posts and I am re-posting a paraphrase of a former post with updated info:

My good intentions are hard to build into lasting habits...but gradually they are sinking in. emoticon

I still need to work on many of the same things like tracking and snacking...sigh but there's been improvement...on the snacking but not the tracking.

My aha "do it anyway" moment came when I put into practice some behavior modification that I read about on the internet in the past, "when you become aware...you become responsible."

I became aware today when I was starting to look for that second unplanned "healthy" snack and boy did I have the excuses running through my head. Thanks to what I have been learning here in SP and the 100DWL there was a moment of awareness or choice. I did not want to walk away and distract myself but I had this lesson in my head and I did it anyway. Again, someone please ask me if I am still doing this in a week. LOL

Happy to say with repeated practice I am beginning to feel much improvement with the snacking. My goal is to carry it through the holidays. emoticon emoticon .

Day 3, Do It Anyway

Okay, it is day 3 and I am COMMITTED to picking up the pace and getting my step goal today. I will walk over 8000 steps even if it means that I need to return to the "dreadmill"!

When I don't want to check the menu and pick my meal before I go out to eat - I'll do it anyway
When I don't want to walk - I'll do it anyway....no more whining about the cold outdoors
When I don't want to wait until Saturday to have that sweet - I'll do it anyway

I can continue to exercise daily and follow my No S plan because there are no good reasons to stop and so many good reasons to "do it anyway".

Day #3 Do It Anyway
This is an important lesson for the procrastinator In me!

When I don’t want to take time to plan good meals, I’ll do it anyway.
When I don’t want to exercise, I’ll do it anyway.
When I don't want to make that necessary phone, I’ll do it anyway.
emoticon When I don’t feel I should spend so much time on my own needs, I’ll do it anyway because only I can change what is important for my happiness.

Awake st 4:30 AM with a sore throat and cold symptoms. Today I will not feel like exercising but I will do it anyway. I may feel less energy at class, but I will remain focused anyway, I may be tempted to eat junk but I will have a salad for lunch and continue my pop free streak.

Nice thing about streaks, they can help me stay strong on days I feel weak.

I understand the idea behind do it anyway and it's definitely an area I need to work on. I've also learnt (still learning) that while my feelings can't rule me sometimes they are there for a reason. I'm committed to doing what is important, and being aware of the choices at hand and then trying to make the best choice for that situation.

For example, if I don't want to walk because I can't be bothered as I'm comfortable sitting where I am reading - that's a time when I need to be doing it anyway. If my pain level is high and swelling is particularly bad it might sometimes be the choice of needing to not do something even when I want to.

Need to work on making the better choice for my health - and that's the thing I need to be doing anyway

One step at a time we can do it!

From my experience yesterday, I came to know I have to take care of my needs or the DAY--whatever number--will fall apart. I was way too tired and hungry yesterday at dinner time. An extremely long and complex dental appt. of my hubby's pooped me out but good!

I re-read Day 3 and laughed. No way I could do that in my tired condition. I just gobbled the dinner in front of me, chicken ala king etc. and hot fudge sundae for dessert.

I thought the day would be hard. I went for the Mon. morning walk with the group. I almost did not go. We were back in plenty of time to get my hubby to his dental appt. Phew! I dodged a bullet. And I thoroughly enjoyed the walk in a Japanese garden here in Buffalo,

But hubby's dental appt. was hours long! I had to be involved helping the dentist set up hubby's motorized wheelchair--in about 5 different rooms and even on 2 different floors!

Over an hour wait there for the machine to make hubby's bridge. The dentist asked us to wait because hubby just had a front toot pulled and he looked pretty gross. We could not go home to wait.

So, what I learned was

1. just do the best I can and not beat myself up for an unexpected situation.

2, plan ahead as much as possible so I don't get overtired and over hungry.

I have to be diligent about caring for myself. 100 DAYS OF WEIGHT LOSS is a great way for me to keep focused. Day 1 is July 1, 2017. Build habits to produce success. Most of these habits I have at least tried before but did not sustain. First habit: delay eating by using a timer.

Overeating is usually regretted the moment it's over (I had that sort of weekend!) The terrific thing is that you know what's going on! Sleep well, and on to Day 4 - eating the egg noodles and dessert was your 'wider path'.
emoticon
Di - I hope you get your hip treatment real soon. In the meantime, focus on what you CAN do. A friend of mine with one replacement hip and the other one causing problems has discovered Tai Chi reduces her pain enormously. Spark have some Tai Chia videos now. Try to keep your spirits up.
