I was going to run the Yellowstone one but timing didn't work out for me this year but perhaps next year. The Yellowstone one was a bit of road and trail when you look at the video. This is there first year in business putting on the events and they are very friendly and will answer any questions if you ask. Yellowstone sold out in 4 days but they have a refund policy so if you can't run it then you can back out by a certain date. I really like that because though you plan injury can prevent it.
To me the price is average to most races so I don't feel it's out of line. I think these races are about the experience of the locations. With the Yellowstone one they really helped you plan a vacation around the race and posted useful information about local places and hikes to take in the park. Other destination races could care less about promoting the local area. It was just nice.

The website leaves a lot of questions unanswered but one thing is clear: $100 registration fee! Personally, I'm fine with the no-cups policy but why so expensive?

Among many questions unaddressed by the website, how about the most basic: Is this a road or trail race? The text merely says "beautiful run through the woods" but if you zoom in, you'll see the entire course lines up with roads and highways. What's the point of going to such a beautiful forest only to run on or alongside highways?

I was actually looking for another race, but found this one--wish I had seen it before I signed up for my one in September. The date for the race is 20 September and is run outside the park. Some elevation changes :-). It's run by www.vacationraces.com. Interestingly, they don't have water cups at the stations, but issue a hydrapouch in each racer bag that you wear and fill at each stop (if you want). Or you can bring your own water system. The race is part of the National Park Half Marathon Series.
