While I see Hotlanta's advert on Orion's website, I wouldn't make any assumptions about what Orion is doing for Hotlanta unless you see it explicitly spelled out. Did you?

Most race management organizations (like Orion) offer an assortment of services from which clients can pick and choose. Sometimes clients only need to hire timers, sometimes they want more. Sometimes it's as simple as providing cones along the route.

Looks like Orion is the racing company. www.orionsportstiming.com/ And per their webpage they have a lot of race experience.

It does look like a challenging race with the first half effectively being the downhill portion and the latter the uphill. If you love a race where you have to fight through it, this could be fun.

With a race start at 7:30, it will definitely be a hot race.

You might want to post this on the Atlanta SparkGroup as well.

Did you already register? Unclear from your post.

Having been burned a few times, I'm very leery about signing up for brand new races and the website gives no clue as to the record of the organizer. The only way to know for sure if it's not a professionally-managed event is to wait to see if it's repeated.

PS: Even if it's well managed, a hilly HM in Atlanta in August?! Hope you are acclimated!

Is anybody else doing this race? I am traveling in the area, and decided to cross Georgia off my 50-states list with this race. But I am traveling/running alone, so I wouldn't mind getting some tips from people. I know this is the inaugural running of this race, but anybody know anything about the organizers? About the course?

Renee
