Sorry I had to share this one, too. This was the write up in Saturday's paper regarding the race. That is me in the picture wearing the visor. And I am the person interviewed in the last paragraph of article. emoticon

Enjoy the read!! Even thought it was after the fact! LOL

Skirnir - keep working on adding running to your walking!!! You can do it!!

PASTAFARIAN - yes, it was hot and humid. I was drenched by the end of mile 1! But kept my pace through 6.5. Which is pretty awesome considering!!

Don't put off till tomorrow what you can accomplish today!

I would be happy with that time almost no matter what. Still haven't managed an under 3 hour half yet, but I am a walker trying to add in running.

Congrats on your first, particularly in those conditions. You know it's a tough race when the winners complain about the heat and humidity :-P

I ran my first half marathon this morning. It was great!! It is very hot and humid here in Michigan but I made sure I drank a ton of water yesterday and took drinks at every water station through the course. I ended with a time of 2:30 which was very close to my goal. I wanted to stay in the range of 10:30-11 min miles and did great up through mile 6.5. I felt strong and stayed under 11 min miles. But once I hit half way I started to slow down. I had several miles just over 11 min then went up to 12 min miles and even hit 13 at one point. My last one ended up being 10:15 or so b/c I was so happy that I was almost done!! LOL Even in spite of the heat I did not cramp up or have any other issues that I was getting tired enough to slow down. There had not been very many opportunities to run in heat like this and when I did I noticed being slower than normal. But I can honestly say I am okay with my time! I knew going in I might not be able to hit my goal time b/c of the heat and I was okay with that. I did my best under the circumstances. I am looking forward to continuing my training for my next half in September. I'm also looking forward to my relaxing week this week, too! But I can't wait to get back out there to keep my training going and do even better next time around!! emoticon Thank you to all of you that answered questions or had suggestions or ideas that they shared while I was training. You all were just as important to my training as my training team here in my town!! You are the best!! emoticon

Don't put off till tomorrow what you can accomplish today!
