I'll have to mark my calendar to check on it for next year so I don't plan something over it.

It's that time of the year for the Half and Half Marathon again.

www.halfandhalfmarathon.com

I'm not going to do it again - once was enough. But I'm glad I did it - the experience was better than I hoped for. Plus, it satisfied my curiosity, the story is endlessly funny, and people always ask me about it when I wear the shirt. (It says "13.1 and a bun" on it.)

Sounds like good scenery a lot of the way. If I ever tackle a "food" run, this may be it.

My 1/2 and 1/2 race report is up. (It's been up for awhile but I forgot to mention it here until now!)

I agree. There are compromises in this race. But I figure if other people can do mud runs that require them to squirm through mud and other bizarre stuff, I can put up with some sidewalks.

And the sidewalk issue may be minor compared to keeping that half smoke down. And since the sidewalks are only necessary near the restaurant, I'll be moving pretty slowly anyway - especially those 2 sidewalk miles immediately after eating the half smokes. :-P

Yeah, I saw that last year and I decided to pass. Because if I ran it I would likely be passing. Nawmean? And if I recall, you have to run on the sidewalks? That sounds like a bad idea.

Is the veggie option a standard soy substitute? I'm not sure if it would go down any easier but it would truly depend.

There is a vegetarian option. I rarely eat meat but I signed up for the meat option thinking it would be "more authentic" (read: more likely to feel better after I vomit it all back up at mile 8) but there is time to switch and I've been debating this decision since I registered. Advice?

I'm not sure I could do that, being a vegetarian not withstanding. I'll be interested to hear how it goes!

Oh man, I think I could eat it, but I don't know if I could hold it down to finish the race! emoticon

Let me know how you are going to train your gut on LSRs! So you must clean your plate before finishing the second half. Interesting. emoticon I have no doubt.

Run 6.55 miles, eat a half smoke with chili and chips, run the remaining 6.55 miles.

cromagnuson.wix.com/halfand-halfthon

At $50, still seems reasonably priced. But they doubled the price this year and if that trend continues, I might not be able to afford it in the future. So I registered for this year! 4 months to train my GI system :-P
