I didn't know that Silver Sneakers gave you all that much. I thought it would only do the Silver Sneakers classes. The Gold's gym sounds like it is a good one. I'm not sure where there is one of those here. My insurance wouldn't cover that anyway. It only covers the Denver Recreation Centers, so I can't take any Silver Sneakers except those at the Denver Rec Centers.

Any gym that accepts Silver Sneakers. For some gyms, like Gold's, it gets you into most of the classes and all of the equipment for free, not just Silver Sneakers classes. You can join as many gyms as you want on the pass Silver Sneakers gives you, so you can go to one for one thing and another for something else. There is a Gold's about 2 miles from me that has the class twice a week, a small lap pool, sauna, hot tub, and the equipment. They're starting a senior yoga class next week I'm going to try. There's another gym closer that accepts Silver Sneakers but doesn't offer the Silver Sneakers class and I think I'd have to pay for any classes I took.

Can you use Silver Sneakers at other gyms? Here anyone with a Silver Sneakers membership can go to any gym with Silver Sneakers classes. They go to YMCA, Glendale gyms, Aurora gyms, Denver rec centers. I only have the Denver Rec Center membership, so have to stay at one of those. I have just been checking out any of the close centers to me to see what they have. The classes I am looking at are at probably the next 2 or 3 closer centers to the one where I play pickleball. Pickleball is at the closest rec center to me (and luckily it is the most friendly group playing pickleball).

Strength training can be as easy as grabbing a couple of water bottles and start doing bicep curls. Walmart sells inexpensive dumb bells. I often do the RV Silver Sneakers videos on YouTube on Saturday because there's only 2 classes a week at the gym.

I get interested in things and forget to exercise, too. The cardio dance (Oula or Zumba) lasts an hour or a little more and it is non-stop, though I do end up needing a break usually. The pickleball I don't forget since I enjoy that so much. Usually there are a lot of breaks during the 3 hour period of play. Once in a while it is maybe a 10 minute break, but there are times there isn't a break between games. Thursday I played 4 games right off the bat. Every time I would sit down someone would immediately hold up my paddle for the next game. During the middle of the time period is when there is more rest.

I really need to figure out some resistance or weight work and maybe do like Kim suggested and try some Silver Sneakers Yoga. I really don't think that type will cause a problem like the neurology head warned me about (he said no yoga and no chiropractic because I have a narrow carotid artery in my neck).

Wow, has it been that long. I think I lost the whole 4 lbs. but it doesn't matter now, because I've put whatever I did lose back on and taken it off again. I did get back to cooking from scratch but still go through spells of eating fast food, luckily not very long ones.

Cardio dancing sounds like fun. I've been reading that we don't have to do all the exercise at one time, but, rather, can break it up and space it out throughout the day. I'm trying that (10 minute segments 3 or 4 times a day) but I keep getting interested in things I'm doing and forgetting to exercise. I need to set an alarm! LOL

I obviously never met my July goals from 2015. Haven't lost and haven't been able to walk a 5K.

I did start playing pickleball this year in February and have managed to get a little running going when I do that. I am also trying to get some other exercise decided on. Pickleball is twice a week, so I am trying out some cardio dance and may try some easy yoga.

I really want to lose 4 lbs. this month. I've been eating more fast foods than I usually do to avoid cooking in this heat and I need to stop that. So that's my goal for July - cook my meals, avoid bread and butter, and lose 4 lbs.

Sometime I would like to be able to walk a 5k. I am not sure I would ever be able to run one, even slowly. I think that is great that you guys are doing them. Right now I am able to walk Cassie around the block (or 2) and that wears us both out. Hopefully I will keep up with those walks, at least.

My 1st goal for July is to better my current Frequency / Total Time / Total Milage / Av Milage on my stationary bike.

In June, I had 15 sessions / 15hrs:30mins / 202.8 miles / 19 miles average (one less session, but all the rest up from May)

My 2nd goal is to stay on track for 2x/week "Strong Women Stay Young" (SWSY) at-home free-weight strength training.

My 3rd is to see a drop in my Body Fat % rating (as per my stationary bike reading) At the start of May it was 34%. I will record what it is today, and measure again on July 31

I know what you mean, Darlene! I had no idea how many carbs food has until I decided to cut carbs. Those little devils are everywhere! Good luck on achieving your goals. We can do it!

You guys are good at getting goals. I have a problem of never sticking to them, unfortunately. So I will make one or maybe two.
Get my weight back down to under 200.
Lower the carbs I am eating. That is hard because I love ice cream when I get hot. But I am putting berries with it, so though it doesn't lower the carbs I get something healthy.

My July goals:

1. Drink no more than one diet coke per day. (This is my weakness! I'm determined to get to zero per day and got down to 2 for the month of June. I used to have at least 6 per day. Going to one will be hard because I do not like coffee, tea, or flavored water. If I need a second diet coke, I'll have caffeine free -- but I know that is just a crutch to keep from going bonkers.)
2. Walk at least 4,000 steps EVERY day
3. Get out of the house every day even if it is just to walk around the block.
4. 30 minutes of exercise five days a week -- at least 10 min EVERY day.
5. Drink more water.

I really want to get below 180 during the month of July and to never see 180 again on my scale. If I stick to my goals, it WILL happen. Good luck to all. WE CAN DO IT!
