Twice a week, Mondays and Tuesdays, I take care of a couple items in the kitchen, one at a time. For example, one drawer, a toaster, one shelf in the refrigerator, etc. This makes me aware of what needs to be done, plus I am working toward having a smooth run kitchen.

I have so many things to do during the day, besides my job, that I can't afford to do spring cleaning every time that I enter the kitchen.

This time, I sorted and packed all the varieties of pasta that I have. That made me aware to include couscous in my next meal planning.

My cupboards are done. Next, I have to do the drawers. I need to sort things out, because I have to move many things around when I need a utensil. My husband keeps putting things in different drawers. I think that I have to put some kind of labels for him to put the right things in the right place. At least he doesn't mess too much with things in the cupboards.

I got a magnifier, colored round labels, and a black marker. It is so hard to read the dates on the containers, that I decided to do something about it.

I got out all my spices, jars, boxes, etc. in my pantry and sorted by year. I used different colors for years, like red for items due on 2017. Then I just wrote the month and year on the labels and stuck to the items.

During the process, I had to throw away a lot of outdated stuff, which taught me to stop buying stuff that I might or not use in the future. I will only going to buy items if they are on my shopping list, being careful to buy the required amount when possible. For example, I threw away an outdated bottle of Sriracha, that I used only like a couple of times before it was outdated.

Also, the blue labels that I used for 2014 are reminders that I need to use those items more frequently.

emoticon CANADIANFROG. Batch cooking and freezing works wonderfully. I like to make, among many things, cream of veggies ahead of time. Then, I put 1-cup portions in resealable sandwich plastic bags that I lay flat in the freezer.

On Saturday we went out and bought a new freezer, self defrost at that, lol. I'm staring batch cooking and baking while the cool weather is still with us, all healthy food of course. There will be no reason to eat out, unless were out of town.

Got new kitchen scale, all is done as far as the kitchen goes. emoticon

I got my dishes all put away and done. Measuring spoons, cups and food scale are easily accessible. Now to arrange the pantry.

I am in the unenviable position of having to move at the end of this month. This means I have two goals: spend as little money as possible on groceries AND source my meals as much as I can from my stores so that I don't have to move them.

My pantry has a variety of dried legumes, grains, nuts, and pasta along with a few canned tomatoes and canned beans.

I am going to start by making an inventory of what I have and then come up with some recipes to use as much of the food I already have in the pantry. This way, I will spend money only on fresh veggies and dairy foods.

As far as cleaning out any junk food, I don't have any in the house. And, I keep a pretty tidy ship already so everything is clean and organized - until I have to start packing the kitchen, that is...

Firstly I scrubbed my stove immensely and washed out the fridge. Then hubby and friends took the stove to the dump and the fridge to the basement and put in their place a new stove and fridge. They sparkle so nicely that I want to get the walls washed, cupboards cleaned and sort some things. Mostly sorting has been done though.

Good luck Allie, I admire you being able to go to Golden Corral and just getting salad bar!!!
Since I live with my mom, can't make a lot of changes.... I keep a food scale by my place at the table with measuring cups and eat off of a 6 inch plate instead of a dinner plate. I also no longer eat away from the table when at home, even if it is a snack, it gets weighed/measured. Those have been the changes I can make to keep me aware of what I am eating.

I'm in y'all!!! Tomorrow is a great day to start my revamp!!!! Hubby has to work,no grandbabies to watch!!!
I can do things just for me yahhhh!! I'm so excited don't know where to start,I'm thinking with the fridge, clean out all I never or rarely use, decide what healthy things that could(will) replace unhealthy items.Make a grocery list ( as was going to Sam's tomorrow anyway).
Move on to cupboard doing same as fridge, donate to food bank things I no longer want in my pantry and cupboards. Also things my hubby( who eats mainly junk all night long also thin as a rail ,replace things he won't miss with healthier choices for him).
After morning of cleaning head to the gym for water aerobics class by 10am,yep gotta get up by 7am !!! I want to be done at gym ,grab a salad bar at Golden Corral then head to Sam's !!!! I so don't want to go there hungry!!! lol Sounds like a full day for me!!!!
