Lately it has been all about full fat cream top yogurt because I heard the fat is good for your brain and helps with weight loss, although it seems counterintuitive. I tried it and lost 3 pounds. It worked! I didn't cut back much either.

Ditto, "progress, not perfection."

And I do have a sweet tooth, but if a little honey or maple syrup with all their minerals and micro nutrients aren't going to cause all kinds of cravings and insulin/hormone fluctuations, that "empty calories" will, that is a reason to move in that direction.

I did read the linked article. It was reaffirming to learn that something that I thought of as a guilty treat had so much nutritional and health value. I started using it along with honey from a local supplier because while I am not to the point of doing totally clean eating, I do believe in the logic behind it and want to move closer to that. I learned a lot. Thanks for sharing!

Did you see my post on maple syrup below on 2/10 with link to an article on its benefits? Even helps control blood sugar!

My son has had pneumonia and viral sinus infection in the past week. He saw his doctor and a Nurse Practitioner at the practice. Both recommended honey for sore throat and its antibacterial properties. They don't like Rx cough medicine for kids (my son is 18) just honey.

EggBeaters... they are so quick and easy, pure protein.

For lunch today I made an omelette with EggBeaters, mushrooms I had previously cooked and Cabot 75% reduced fat Sharp Cheddar cheese. Used Pam in a non-stick pan. A little kosher salt and black pepper. Fast, healthy and delicious.

Dried mangos are like figs-pure sugar but aren't they delicious? One of my personal favorites is fresh pineapple but I like just about all fruits and vegetables. We have had so much fresh corn I'm tired of it, ditto peaches. Never get too many avocadoes.

That's because picking figs sucks... I used to pick them with my grandmother every summer, and she would break out into a terrible rash each and every time. It was worth it for those homemade fig preserves though!

My current favorite healthy food is Chobani Greek Yogurt, the coconut flavor. Add a serving of almonds on top, and it's creamy and delicious. Bet if you added a tablespoon of chocolate chips, it would taste almost like an Almond Joy! I've given myself an idea.... emoticon emoticon

I really like all the summer fruits and vegetables, including figs. Did you know those little rascals have about 30 calories each? I have two trees in the back yard loaded with them and I am letting the birds have nearly all of them this year. We've offered them to anyone who wants to come pick them but so far no takers.

Oh that powdered peanut butter stuff is awesome in smoothies. I had spinach with mandarin oranges and salmon drizzled with a splash of Goya sauce for dinner tonight. It was delicious!
