I definitely had cramps with both pregnancies, especially around 5-6 weeks. Lots of little twinges and pulls, too! I know it's really hard not to obsess and stress. I just have to do my best to stay busy and focused on other things. Good luck!

I've never been a cramp person for anything, but I definitely have had anxiety about my previous pregnancy and this one. I think it just comes with the lack of control that carrying a baby entails, along with the feeling of responsibility for the life you carry. I'm constantly worried that something is wrong anytime baby doesn't move as much or moves differently, or if my legs seem more swollen one day, or I'm having more shortness of breath. Did I bump my belly too hard on my desk when I sat down? Is it normal to have so many Braxton-Hicks contractions? I should be exercising more to make my labor easier and keep my weight gain more controlled. And so on. Everyday, I have a hundred little anxiety moments, and some really awesome moments where I sit and watch my belly dance (I'm 33 weeks + 6 days) Maybe you could start a journal? It could be helpful getting your feelings out, without making them public.

Thanks so much everyone! I am so thrilled, but also so nervous.

I'd love to blog about it, but 5 weeks just seems too early to put it all out there. Yet, there's really nothing else on my mind. Every cramp freaks me out. I've never had much of an issue with anxiety but I'm struggling. I'm an optimist in so many parts of my life, yet I'm having major issues just trusting that everything will be okay with this pregnancy.

Do any of you have any tips for managing anxiety and stress? And did you have a ton of cramps early on? Obviously, having never been through it before, I have no idea what it's supposed to feel like, but I just hold my breath every time I run to the bathroom...

Gah. Still doesn't feel real to me.

Man, I was off SP for almost two weeks and seem to have missed a lot. Congrats Jan-Marie!!

With our first pregnancy only my best friend, you guys, and boss knew I was pregnant until 12 or 13 weeks. My boss only knew because I had bleeding around 8 weeks and had to take three days off work for bed rest.

This time around we told our families at about 8 weeks and I actually ended up telling my coworkers about 9 1/2 weeks because word was kind of getting around anyway. I still haven't made it public on FB and I haven't told my students yet. I'm planning on waiting another week and a half until I have my second OB appointment. It's personal choice, for sure! I've kind of felt weird telling people so early this time, but I'm glad I can be open about it to my family and co-workers, especially since I haven't been feeling well.

Congrats Bobcatgirl!! A happy and healthy pregnancy to you! With my son, I was about 11 weeks before anyone other than DH, the ladies on this board and one co-worker knew (I'm a vet so my tech kept me away from radiation and anesthetic gases and such). We made our holiday cards our announcement for our close friends (@13 weeks or so) and then told my job at 16 weeks. I didn't announce it on Facebook until I was 6 months or something.. Honestly, DH and I wanted to enjoy our privacy and joy alone for a bit before being overwhelmed by everyone else (we have some overbearing family...) lol.. But do whatever feels right to you :)

As for me, I'm out for August... DH and I weren't actively trying but I recognized the signs of impending O, OPK was positive, checked cervix.. But AF showed up yesterday... I have mixed feelings cuz we are super busy in the middle of moving back to MN and finances are tight so it's probably not the best time (is it ever?)...but I'm sad too.. I'm so blessed with my son and I will absolutely be fine if there isn't another yet I'm still feeling a little unfulfilled. It's so strange..

Dana :)

We told family at 5 weeks because it was Thanksgiving and everyone was together. I had to tell my boss very early because I had some work travel planned for what was to be my 38th week (I used to be an expert financial witness, so locking witnesses in very early was party of the job), and they needed to find someone else who could do it.

Other than that, we waited to tell people until about the 11th or 12th week as I started to show.

Agreed, it's a personal decision. Don't feel like you have to wait if you don't want to. One of those coworkers had multiple losses and didn't feel like it was anything to keep private, which I respect. He just had a different level of sharing that he was comfortable with than me.

Congrats!!

With my first pregnancy, we waited till 8 wks to tell immediate family. However, after 2 early losses, we felt we needed to tell people immediately just to feel the love and to get the support we needed. It's a very personal decision.

We never told anyone at our jobs until at least the 2nd trimester though. :)

Best of luck!! :)))

Congratulations!!!! Well, I told SP people right away (after my DH), and I told family at 10 weeks and I told work and facebook after my 14 week dr apt went well. I'm a chicken though. I've worked with 2 guys who told everyone at work pretty early and then had a loss, and I didn't want that to be me. I think after 12 weeks you are supposed to be in pretty good shape, but it made more sense to me to do it after an apt.

Well this cycle was very strange for me. AF showed up 2 days early, and then I believe I O'd CD 12, another 2-3 days early. That then led Fertility Friend to predict that I'd only have a 26 day cycle ending August 20th with AF showing on August 21st. AF had previously been predicted for this Wednesday August 24th.

However... on Thursday at 12DPO, I got my BFP! I can't believe it! I told my husband that night, and our parents this weekend, but I'm still incredibly nervous. I just want everything to go right.

I'm not sure I'll blog about it or make it known in the SP community for a while. I'm not sure. On the one hand, I think the more people who know, the more positive thoughts and prayers surrounding the baby. But there's always a chance something could go wrong, and then the more people who know, the more people there are to tell.

To all of you experienced mothers, how long did you wait to tell people? My best friend knows, and like I said our parents, but otherwise, I've kept quiet. Other than all of you now! :)

Thank you KTLUND99! I'm sorry, ARTISTCAT :(.

Update on my embryos: Out of my 10 eggs, eight fertilized. After the six day wait, three completely failed, four of them made it to blastocyst or very close to blastocyst but were of poor quality. One was excellent, with a B+ rating, which has been frozen and will be transferred next month. I guess we don't have to decide how many to transfer now. I was hoping to be dealing with two or three good blastocysts, but I'm thankful I got one. Crossing my fingers it's a good one.

Thanks to all for the well wishes and good luck to everyone still in!

Good luck, Kirsten, and take care! I went through IVF too and love your positivity and optimism! Fingers crossed for you and your 10 little ones!

Smatsch - I agree that dealing with insurance companies over infertility-related stuff is the WORST. I had to go in to the office to write some appeals (which didn't work) and get answers on others. It made a stressful process even worse.

Good luck to the rest of you!

I'm out for August. Unfortunately, I tried scheduling the HSG, and called the first day of my cycle, and they got back to me today that they couldn't fit me in. Plus, the MRI was denied by my insurance, so we need to see if I can get it ordered by my normal doctor, or if I need to appeal the denial. So, now that will be delayed for awhile too. I'm eager to find out everything that's going on, so we can start the process, but I will try to be patient. Good luck to mommy2Geneieve on the IVF process, I really hope you have good luck!

Yay bobacatgirl76! Sending happy thoughts your way!

I had my IVF egg retrieval yesterday. Probably the worst day pain-wise of the whole process. The injections were nothing compared to this. Still, I'd only put it as five on a pain scale of one to ten. I'm just sore and achy, but that is to be expected for sure. At least you're out of it for the whole process!

Anyway, we retrieved 10 eggs, so we will see how many make it to day five as embryos. All of this is SO worth it!

I'm now 4DPO and in my TWW. I O'd on CD12 which is super early for me, so I only BD CD 10 and CD12, but hoping those were enough. Going to try to hold out to test until AF is late, but if I'm being honest I'll probably test some time next week. The next time we see our families will be for my DH's father's birthday, which happens to fall on September 11th, which is also Grandparent's Day. That seems pretty much like fate to me, so I hope I have good news to tell them!

I've been on IVF stimulation injections (Follistim and Menopur) since Friday morning. I had blood work and an ultrasound this morning and I am so happy to report that the stims are working! I've gone from having five follicles to having eight follicles and they are all growing properly. Depending on my blood work results, I'll either add the Ganarelix injection tonight or tomorrow night. I'm so thrilled to see that this is working. There are still a lot of steps, so I'm trying not to get ahead of myself, but I'm feeling great. This is all worth it!

Thanks ladies! I never thought I would find myself in this place, but here I am. I used to look at women who did IVF and think, wow, what a strong woman you are to go through such lengths to possibly have a baby. You kick butt. Proud to say that about myself now! Yep, I kick butt :)

IVF Day 1:

My first injection was this morning. It was Menopur. Follistim gets done tonight. It wasn't that bad! The needle is really tiny! The worst part was mixing the solution with the powder. We were laughing because we thought we looked like drug lords in our house :)

Of course, we're hoping we did it right, but I think we did. Mix medicine, inject in stomach. But you worry you didn't get the injection site right, and my husband was freaking because a little bit of the meds came out on the needle when he pulled it out. But I figure it's all okay. I'm going to call the doctor today just to make sure.

Anyway, I can do this! Anticipation is always worse than the actual reality when it comes to these things, at least for me. And I have such a great hubby who isn't afraid to inject me, so I'm grateful for that. Crossing all my fingers and toes that this works :)

Thanks for the sweet messages, I really appreciate it. I think I was just really disappointed when I heard the news, but I will try to be more positive. I'm afraid my insurance doesn't cover any fertility treatments, but I will try to be more optimistic as I wait for all of the test results to occur, and see how our meeting goes.

Smatsch - I don't know how old you are, but I'm 38 1/2, and my AMH is 0.44. It's not great, but getting pregnant is not impossible! I'm staying very positive. Yes, getting pregnant on my own would have been nothing short of a miracle, but my doctor is giving my a 50-60% chance with IVF. I just took my last birth control pill last night (which rested my ovaries) and am going in tomorrow morning for my bloodwork and ultrasound that will confirm I can start the stimulation drugs. They are arriving at my house today :)

I'm nervous, but very hopeful and excited. There ARE solutions! Don't give up. Friend me/message me if you want to talk more.

I wish you the ABSOLUTE BEST!!!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the good wishes and prayers. The nurse called me yesterday and my amh levels are .489, which is really low. It just seems like we can't catch a break. It's so disappointing. I know I need to wait for the other tests to be done, but I'm worried the doctor is going to say we should give up. I had chronic migraines for years, so we'd put off having kids, but now I wish I would have tried earlier.

We met with the fertility specialist this week, but I need a lot more tests done before we can come up with a plan. I have multiple uterine fibroids, and there is one that's pushing against the endometrium wall, where the pregnancy is supposed to implement, so it looks like I may need surgery, but because I have to many, she wants an MRI done, because she's worried that the fibroids are close to other areas, and she wants to make sure there is enough room for surgery without damaging anything else. Then I need to get a HSG test done, to see if there is blockage, and if so, that may needed to be added to the surgery. It will probably be another month before I can get the HSG test done. I'm worried because she said something like how she's really going to have to think with my issues, which doesn't seem like a good sign.

I'm in. I start my IVF injections next week. I'm on the birth control right now, and injections start on the 27th. Follistem and Menopur to start. Egg retrieval should hopefully be between August 8th and 16th. If I'm not hyper-stimulated, I can have a fresh transfer 3-5 days after my retrieval.

This is all new, so I'm very thankful for this forum to be able to talk it out a little.
