60 lbs in 8 months. About how many calories a day does anyone eat on Victoza. I am struggling to reach 1000. I figured out that if I eat over 30 carbs in a meal it makes me sick.
Does it do this to anyone else?

I have been on Victoza for about three months now. No significant weight loss as of yet, but I have noticed that my clothes are bigger on me now.

I just started Victoza about two weeks ago. I started at the 0.6 dose and now am taking 1.2. My doctor said to take it with a meal in the morning. I went to my nutritionist and she told me to take it at night, which I have been doing. I have not had any side effects and have lost 4 pounds. I also was on 42 units morning and night of Levemir and 2-6 units of Novolog pre -meals. I have not had to take my Novolog at all in the past week and have decreased my Levemir (Doctors orders) to 20 units in the morning and at night! I am so glad to have started the Victoza.

That was the medication that I was on when I was first diagnosed with diabetes in 2010. I t was wonderful in the first month I lost nearly 20 lbs. within 6 months between the Victoza, exercise and diet I had lost 90lbs. This time around when I tried to use it, it was making me sick to my stomach to the point that I was vomiting if I didnt have food in my mouth constantly I think that was because the sugars were soooo high and out of control...I am going to talk to my Dr about going back on it again now that my sugars are a little lower and see if I can work with it.

Finally figured out that the metformin I had been taking for years was causing my IBS. So Dr. started me on Victoza. Up to the 1.8 dose and do notice a decrease in appitite but not much else. Also wondering about the side effects. Nothing too noticeable. One thing is, my health Insurance deductible is high and this stuff isn't cheap. May have to give it up because of cost.

I have been doing pretty well on the Victoza since I started taking it. I'm up to the full 1.8 dose, and I have continued to lose a little bit of weight mainly due to the significant reduction in my appetite and food intake. The only issue I have is constipation, but I use benefiber in my tea in the morning and it seems to help. I LOVE the fact that I do not get hungry any more between meals!

Wow LESLIEBEAGLE that's great on your weight loss & No side effects on the Victoza...
Can I ask how many units are you taking? I go see my diabetic care giver on the 13th since starting Victoza so I'm looking forward to seeing what my A1c will be, but unfortunately my weight is still the same.

Yes. My Dr prescribed this on top of the Metformin anf Glyburide. Started in February 2014 and immediately lost weight because I was not hungry between meals. Down 30+ lbs over a 10 month period. No side effects.

I've been on Victoza for a little over 2 months...I have not lost weight, seems I may have gained a couple pounds. But I have had headaches almost daily since starting this medication, will see my doctor in Dec. for follow up. See if it has helped lower my A1c if not than I may suggest going back to what I was using before Victoza or something else.

Pat, that is my feeling exactly. I have been through cancer once and I think it is easier to control diabetes than to go through cancer again.

I do not trust any meds that could cause cancer even if it is a slight chance.

Had my first injection with Victoza last night. I have been on Metformin for about 4 months. I read that some of the common side effects are headaches and some nausea, so I wouldn't be surprised if the headaches were from the medicine. Hopefully by now your headaches have gotten better :)

I just started using Victoza 4 days ago...so too soon to say if it will help me lose any weight. But I am having some headaches I'm wondering if they are associated with it.
I also have noticed when I'm eating all of a sudden I'm done, I can't eat no more if I try to push it I feel I could vomit. Does this happen for you?
Like to hear anyone else experience with Victoza.

I haven't used it. All I could see on their site is that it lowers BS and A1c and it has been shown to cause thyroid cancer in mice and rats. I don't want to take anything that might cause lows because I live alone and would have no one to help if that happened.

That being said, I guess Paula Deen lost weight while on it, though her diet was also changed.
