Those sound like they will be a lot nicer than what we have now. Course, for those having to take insulin, especially, the current ones are an improvement over years ago when they didn't have the meters. My grandmother didn't have a meter, but had to take insulin. I don't know how she managed that way.

About the bloodless meters, from what I've read, they are still very much in the works, but promising. Some operate with the use of infrared light, some with a very small electric current... but inexpensive portable readers are a problem they are still working on so it may be some time before they are marketable. Sounds good, doesn't it?

"The real secret of success is enthusiasm..." thanks, Walter P. Chrysler. I believe it. That's what I want in my life--to give my imagination a chance, to live with energy and enthusiasm!
P.S. I looked up enthusiasm, and it says the root words mean God within... interesting...!

Ralph Waldo Emerson said 'Life belongs to the energetic.' But you don't have to be frenetic and hyper--some energy is quiet and steady, like a heartbeat... and that works too! LOL

Using the sides of the fingers is much less painful. The pads of the fingers are very sensitive and they hurt too much.

I thought most of the lancet holders have a sliding up/ down tip.

That way I can adjust my Accu chek so it does not go too deep.

yes, that's what I have . . . . Freestyle Lite. And yes, you can adjust the depth of the needle stick to lessen the blood amt. used.

I haven't heard of bloodless monitors and didn't know they had thinner lancets. I had Freestyle meters and now have True Test (I think that's right). Both had adjustable lancet devices so you could use a less depth if that would draw enough blood. I thought that they all had that, but don't know. The Freestyle meter I had to be careful not to get too much blood (It took the smallest drop). I think the True Test takes a little more, but not as much as it used to. Would that help, along with changing fingers and using the sides? I don't know if the True Test has the stuff so you can use other sites, but the Freestyle does.

I will have to check into a thinner lancet. I'm starting to switch fingers that I use. My son wanted to buy a bloodless meter for me but I don't think they are available yet.

And also there are meters that allow you to test other sites besides your finger tips.

You can use any lancet with any meter, you just need to bleed enough for the meter you have. You might get less pain with a thinner needle. Also, do you use the sides of your fingers and change fingers regularly?

I've been trying to research bloodless glucose meters but can't find much information on these. It doesn't look to me that there are any available yet. My fingers are sore from the needle pricks and was just wondering if anyone knows anything promising about these.
