And be sure too that you have a source of good fats (i.e. avocado, olive oil, safflower oil and the like) because that aides in carbohydrate metabolism.

Good luck!

the deal here is if you don't eat that snack you get dawn effect when the brain needs food and tells the liver make some glucod=se and get it up here the brain runs the body and it wants what it wants when it wants it but always forgets to say how much it wants so the liver pumps that commodity to the brain wihout measurig at until the brain quits asking for it voila high sugar levels for sure fasting you can google this and ask your doc one of the things to offset the high fasting is that bedtime snack let's see what are you eating?? if it is mostly carbs therein lies the problem you should make that 15 to 25 grms of carbs and (big and here) balance it with protein the protein causes the carbs to be effective for a longer period of time and they don't get used as fast so the brain is satisfied and doesn;t have to wake up the liver because you provied it with an all nighter
some additions protein wise apple with peanut butter a prepackage snak pack if peanut buttercrackers or make them yourself celery and peanutbutter cheese with crackers just so you get the idea the prepackaged snacks run between 15 and 23 carbs and of course easy to have at hand try that for a week friend ask you doc about it but generally that's what most diabetics do it is a long time before breakfast when you have eaten your dinner and generally it won't tide you over if you don't make it habit to do the bedtime snack

I'd love to hear from some of you who, at first, ONLY had high fasting numbers. My post meal numbers are excellent, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get my fasting numbers down.

If I have a snack before bed I'm in the 160 range in the morning.

No snack, 200 or over :(

I'm on glumetza 1000 x 2/day.

Other than losing 100 lbs (which I'm also struggling with), does anyone who's been there, done that, have any suggestions?

Jenn
