I just joined today and did the first video just now :) My goal is to do the videos every day and cardio 5x/week. I think mixing up cardio, as they recommend, will help not only keep my body guessing, but keep my interest. I am so tired of just doing the treadmill and I dread having to do it 5x/week. So my goal is to come up with creative ways to do cardio outside of treadmill. Here's to week one! :)

Off to a stuttering start this week - managed the daily cardio but often found myself doubling up on the toning videos every other day. Hopefully I can do it better this coming week...

I'm off to a slow start - got through week 1 by doing 2 videos a day every other day. Hoping to get to 1 a day on week 2!

Week one was so much fun. I cannot wait for week two. I am going to try to increase my daily cardio from 30 minutes to 45.

My first week is underway. One of the hardest parts is that I stand and walk all day for work, so there is not much desire to go to the gym after that, but I tell myself that I need to.

I live in a small house, so it was hard to stand in front of the computer and work out. I also had my family in the same room watching me. I hated that, I wish they could go somewhere else and leave me a lone while I workout.

It was hard, the non stop workout, I usually only powerwalk, which means i can stop when I need to. But it felt good to get moving last week. onto the 2nd week workout.

I like it!!!

If you look good on the inside, it will show on the outside. Be happy, Love yourself and be kind to others. This what makes a beautiful person.

Starting week one, today! Seem like its going to be a challenge, to do it; things are so hecked around the house.

Goals for week one: silver sneakers 2 days this week, zumba 3 xs this week and a SP video a day.

Hi Everyone and Good luck to those who are doing week 1

I started a few days ago and I feel great. I was already training 3 days a week which included a 2 mile run, 45 min gym sets and lap swim. I have adjusted my schedule and added a few more days of dog power walks as well which is usually everyday.

I plan to workout almsot everyday now since my goal is to go back in the military as a Navy Reserve and I need to lose 19 more lbs. and my goal is early September at the very latest.

Have a great first week!

I agree with Superachiever. I am really uncoordinated and can't manage the kickboxing video very well at all. But if I'm moving my feet and arms the whole time, I figure that counts - even if I'm not going as fast as Coach Nicole or do a move completely backwards or something. emoticon

I do run, and somehow I manage not to trip over my feet doing that, but I never dreamed of trying it until last year. I was surprised how much I liked running - outside, on a gravel road.

Rhapsody, the biggie about this program or any of them is that you take them at your own pace. For the videos that have the "band", I'll either use dumbbells or I'll find another video that's comparable. If I can remember, I'll give you the ones I did to get through the week. Nothing is written in stone. You have to remember to go at your own pace ..... just keep going. !

After looking into this a bit further, I was able to find some replacements that I did that helped me to get through the first week. Perhaps they'll be of help to you as well:

**********

I found that I had to replace a few of the videos and came up with the following to name a few I found:

Try: https://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitnes
s_articles.asp?id=1714 – 10 min.
Try: https://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitnes
s_articles.asp?id=1540 – 9 min.
Try: https://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitnes
s_articles.asp?id=1701 – 11 min.
Try: https://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitnes
s_articles.asp?id=1038 – 11 min.

In your strengthening area, there should be a number of exercises listed for you to perform. If so, look up at upper right corner above all those entries and you’ll see “Swap Out”.

Click on link below:

https://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/fitne
ss_swap_workout.asp?sidn=%3DrRGpm49Pz%
5EN3++0%3BhoDMsLg++++++&dteDateShowing
=5/6/2012

and a new window will open with a series of different exercise regimes you can do. I am doing the “Bikini Workout for Beginners”. Whenever I hit a video that is not “up my alley” in this plan, I go to this routine instead and do it.

Also, for cardio, I was always looking for dance routines. I found two:

The Bollywood routine: https://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/fitnes
s_articles.asp?id=1728

and the Zumba Beginners Routine:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvbn3V-Pt
oc&feature=related

(this is part 1 and there are parts 2 and 3 as well)

I have to admit that I was really winded after the first attempt at both of these. The Zumba left me winded after two times doing it but, by the time the third session came, I found myself doing much better. I admit, I’m not really coordinated but you “improvise”. Just keep your legs moving if you can’t keep up. Just march in time if you can’t keep up. It will come to you eventually.

I had to start really slow cuz I hadn’t exercised in years and I have a bad lower back condition that I have to be careful of. So you need to do what you can do. Nobody is pressuring you but that doesn’t mean you can be lazy either. 

Hope this helps. Good luck. 

It helped me get through the first week.

I am starting over today. While I have gone through most of the videos before and feel like I will eventually be able to complete them, I have to say that the Day1 Video is always super discouraging to me. I am not a runner, have never been a runner. This video just makes me feel inadequate at the fast pace and high intensity level of cardio at which it is performed. I'm trying to focus on doing the moves correctly. I will probably get a greater cardio benefit from doing interval training while walking on the treadmill rather than boucing aroun trying to keep up here.

It will not be easy, but it WILL be worth it!

I've been doing so good on the exercising that I've noticed I'm going off the wagon with what I eat. Oh man, now what???? Any advise?

I walked with the dog in-between rain storms for 15 minutes today. That's all I've done so far today but the night is still young!

Just checking in to be accountable for Week 1. I did my cardio 5x last week and did 6 of the 7 videos. I have been working night shifts since Friday so I haven't managed any exercise since Friday during the day. Any advice from other members on how to incorportate exercise while working overnight shifts (6pm to 7:30am) would be appreciated! emoticon My eating goes to hell also when I am on nights. I managed to do ok on friday night but last night was a disaster and this morning I gorged on donut holes. Those little suckers really add up quick (200 cals for 3 for those of you who are not aware). emoticon I haven't weighed myself yet. I don't do that until I am back on a regular schedule. So Tuesday morning will be the day of reckoning. emoticon

I will do the last video from Week 1 today and then head on into Week 2. See you there!

Fantastic week, busy but got a lot of exercise in. Tracker Nutrition each day on own and learn many new slip-ups. So with week 2 more focus on foods and rewards. Had to many teasers with week 1.

So here is to Week 2. CHARGE onward.

I worked the week, but modified when needed, a few of the videos! Like on the floor, I used our bed.....but it worked! I also added lots of additional walking, and my own strength exercises that I started with from the beginning!

Thirteen months and 64+ pounds GONE!!!! And as of TODAY, THREE TIMES ON THE SCALE, (am, after breakfast, and after showering, which always adds) ONEDERLAND!
199.0! A big Woohoo from me! Okay, the three times on the scale a bit! But HONESTLY, I have dreamt of this day, and just wanted to "see it again!"

I did all 7 days with the cardio video and strength training videos. Plus I did my Basic Yoga every night before bed (helps me to sleep better!). I am feeling great and noticing some looseness in my pants around my hips waist....WOOT! Onward to Week 2 starting today...have the cardio video done. Will be doing the 20-minute resistance band work-out for strength today. Have an awesome 2nd week everyone! :)

I thought it would be a good thing to add that I did do the kickboxing video, but I actually do lots of other videos. I have the 30 day shred, Jillian Michaels, and PT 24/7 Billy Blanks, and I also have a treadmill I used. Plus I also do Turbo Jam and some other challenging videos here at home. I do not have a gym membership so I work out at home with videos, treadmill, free weights, step, bands, etc.

End of week 1 and I am getting closer to my goals, and I lost 1.8 lbs this week. I didnt keep track of calories and the foods I ate, and that is something I am wanting change this week. I did 3/5 of the videos, and got 4 days of cardio in. I know I need to cut out my sweet tea but glad I had only a couple of glasses this week. I am addicted to frozen yogurt, and this week I hope to cut it down to 2 days a week.

Week 2 I plan on doing all the videos for this week, and monitor my eating more whether its good or bad. I did first day of week 2 video and about 20 minutes of Denise Austin cardio. Bring on week two! Good luck to all!

End of week 1. Lost 1 pound. This was a very up and down week, eating wise, but I feel I've learned a few things. When the challenge started I vowed to start drinking all that water people keep were talking about, I gave up my 1 diet pepsi a day. I've only done a couple of the videos as I work out with a trainer 2'xs a week and 1 day on my own. I do 30 to 60 min. of cardio everyday. I would eat well one day only to sabatoge myself the next. Yesterday I was very discouraged, my eating was very unstable. Friday, I was so starved in the afternoon I ate everything in sight, thus waking up discouraged. So yesterday I decided I really need to watch out for my triggers and pay more attention to keeping track of my calories. I use "My Fitness Pal" for that.

Week 2 I plan to do more of the videos, continue to monitor my eating and drinking the tons of water out of the really cute 32 oz containers I bought.

Okay, so I already posted about Days 1-3 so here is the rest of how week 1 has gone for me:

Day 4... I took a 30 minute walk around my apartment complex with my husband. We got rained on, but kept going! I did not do the video today.. :( I swear i meant to!

Day 5...I took a 30 minute walk again, around my complex. I did the video for Day 4, but didn't to today's video :(

Day 6...FRIDAY! So, Fridays are hard to stay disciplined as most of you might know. It's the beginning of the weekend! (Although, I work on Saturdays.) My husband and I usually go to a Mexican restaurant called Estella's on Friday after we get out of our jobs, so that's what we did. We drank beer and ate delicious mexican food. We didn't work out AT ALL and I didn't do the videos I need to catch up on either. I know, it's disappointing, but i can't lie to my team.

Day 7...well....I worked at the bank today...came home, and took a nap. Then my husband and I went to dinner and a movie for date night and got home around midnight. I didn't work out at all. I know...it's horrible!!!

Day 8... So, today is officially the first day of week 2 but i will NOT look at week 2's plan, until I finish week one. I just completed the videos for day 5-7 all in a row. WOW, I'm going to be soooo sore the next few days! I am wiped. My poor abs and butt especially, lol. They will love me later though :) Nicole makes the videos look so easy, but I'm falling all over the place and super shaky! I know I did good though because I could FEEL it for sure! All I need to do now, to finish week 1, is do 1 more hour session of cardio!!!!! I seriously need to fit it in today somehow.

Week 1 thoughts : I do really deeply want to be able to finish this entire challenge. I feel I often start things and don't finish and now I want to finally be able to say I finished something! My timing isn't exactly right which would have stopped me from continuing in the past. But, I suppose as long as I get everything done when I can and keep the ball rolling, I'll stay on a decent track to finish.

Week 2 hopes: I want to be much more consistent with the workouts this week so I don't have to play "cram and make-up" like I am doing for week 1! Good luck everyone!!!

I lost a pound last week but I have to say I am disappointed with the exercises. I have had to substitute for the pilates with a video that won't make me roll around on my tailbone (coccyx broken three times). Also had to substitute for the video that has us kneeling. I don't know that I am getting a very good workout. I know I'm certainly not sore. Shouldn't I be feeling something or should I do these videos several times a day?

I have really learned to try to keep OTHER signs of success on my radar. Remember that now that you are pushing your workouts, you are building muscle and muscle is smaller and heavier than fat! Measure yourself - arms thighs, waist, tummy - everywhere and pay attention to the way your clothes fit. You WILL see changes that might not show up on the scale! Also, you have already stated one way in which you are healthier and that is the fact that you HAVE increased you exercise time - This means that your endurance has improved and your HEART and lungs are healthier.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!! emoticon

Thanks Debbie for the reminder...I am feeling very sorry for myself and that's no good. In fact, after 20 years, I can actually squat this week for the first time and that's totally because of the Spark People exercises. I have figured out a way to get the exercises onto my iPad and can follow them in the gym. Now to figure out how to get the videos onto the iPad so that I can actually do them. And yes, now that you ask, I have a lot more energy

I totally understand how you feel and I wish I had advice! I lost 15 lbs last summer and then before September had gained it all back. I started working out at the end of December and did not lose anything! I was so frustrated, but I knew I needed to start logging food and kicking up my workouts. So I know it is frustrating when you do all things right and get no results. I hope you are at least feeling great and have good energy! Keep it up, there are lots of benefits even though the weight loss isn't there now!

Debbie

Love the challenge but am SO FRUSTRATED I have followed everything; no cheating, not even one bite. I have pushed my workouts up to 90 minutes! I HAVE NOT LOST ONE OUNCE and I've actually been following Spark People and documenting for 7 weeks. Not one ounce off. However, no gain either. No choice but to keep it up but boy am I jealous when I read about everyone's success.

I am so happy I joined this challenge. It was just what I needed to get out of a slump! I lost 3.2 lbs! I have not lost anything since January! I logged my food several days last week and I amped up my workouts, stayed within my calorie range and I could not be happier. So happy to go into week two being successful!

This is a great challenge which I couldn't resist repeating. I completed it last Spring and am doing it again now. What works best for me is getting up a few minutes earlier than usual, have a light breakfast or just hydrate, and head right into the program. I have done this since last Spring's challenge and have been successful at starting my day without being sluggish. My energy "Springs" forth!

A slow start - but every day I did track all food eaten - and stayed within my calorie range (1200 - 1300). One or two days - a little over - one or two days - a little under! Walked every single day. Now - starting doing weight/cardio exercises TODAY!

Thanks to this challenge, I have pushed myself to get in more physical activity. My knees are sore but not sore enough to stop me. Starting week 2 today!

I registered in the middle of week one, and was so overwhelmed with all the mails and videos... I haven't managed to complete it.

I'm slowly feeling home and am positive to do better with week 2 ;)

I finished week 1 this morning. I walk every day and do strength training besides the bootcamp challenge. My knees are not very strong and sometimes I have t take a short break while working out. I am working very hard to try to get stronger when I walk. I am also working on making my body not only look fit but also feel strong and healthy. I was so excited when I heard about the Spring into shape bootcamp challenge because I felt that it would give me a better opportunity to accomplish my goals. I'm not able to do some of the exercises very well but I do them the best I can. I feel that if I continue with this program I will be able to accomplish more in a shorter time.

With a little bit of fairy dust, perseverance, and hard work I will keep my eyes on the GOAL to reach the prize-a NEW AND IMPROVED ME!
