So I'm 2 weeks into this third quarter of the year, and halfway through the first month. I am extremely pleased with my progress. I've maintained my focus on this first month's goal of paper sorting and filing. I have working space in an "office area" instead of cluttering the dining table. I've emptied a box and rearranged boxes still to be sorted, creating more space and flow. I took a couple days off while working on an important job application, and got right back to it after the app was submitted. I'm definitely feeling encouraged and empowered by the choices I'm making and the actions I'm taking!

I had been doing 5-minute timer sessions, often two of them back-to-back on desk work/paper sorting. But today (Saturday), knowing I wanted to actually get filing, I used my 10-minute timer, interspersed with 5-minute sessions of cleaning or other tasks or reading sessions.

It took me awhile to dig down and get to the several file boxes and cartons I've used in the past, and then I sometimes found duplicate files for the same things. I'm not doing much purging of what's already there--that will come later. For now I'm concentrating on getting loose/piled papers in a place that makes sense and I can find it again. I just did 2 back-to-back 10-minute sessions for 60 so far this morning, because I wanted to get more things filed.

It's still slow going as I get back into this habit, and decide to break up a clump of stuff in a hanging folder into subcategories in file folders, and change tab names from old folders I'm reusing from work or my own past (like when I had a house and a home-business). But it's empowering and satisfying--oddly energizing and tiring at the same time.

Tuesday I was a little disappointed that I didn't do any official "desk work." But then I realized I wrote a card to my father after reading a letter from him, I addressed the envelope to mail, and I prepped a check to deposit. I did all that at the dining table, because the desk wasn't all clear yet. But it was mail and paperwork, so totally part of the month's focus! And now there's room on the desk itself to carry out those kinds of tasks--so emoticon

I'll join you! As I mentioned in the Meet and Greet the Day thread, I'm Struggling with 10 lbs I've gained back over the last couple of years. I need a new perspective on how to grab hold of it.

July -- Treat myself somewhat like a newbie. Account for what I am eating, Good Bad or Ugly.

August -- Add a weekly workout schedule that includes ST, Cardio, and flexibility training. Should be at least 4 days per week. Should not be a Yoga based plan. That will become stress management.

September -- Start fall clean up and organization. This isn't a new item, but I'd like to start it earlier as I have painting and such that needs done this year as well.

Businesses report sales and taxes each quarter, so I'm thinking I'll make plans for each quarter and use it to help me measure progress and be more accountable. Today begins the second half of 2018, and the start of Quarter 3. These 3 months I plan to nurture focus and productive habits. I've made progress this year, but it's been in fits and starts, and pretty scattered. So I'm going to pick a particular focus for each month:

July--Mail, paperwork, desk area, filing

August--(6-Pack vacation is happening then, so I'm less ambitious for this month) Linen closet & bathroom, toiletries, inventory

September--Living room, especially exercise equipment, video/TV area & space around the recliner

Obviously my primary challenge deals with physical organization & clutter and functional activities. Other team members may want to focus more on eating or exercising, or some other life area. But feel free to join me in setting some intentions and reporting out. Cheers!
