The winter months is when we normally begin to slow down. We don't exercise nearly as much. We eat high-calorie foods. Our bodies respond very much like the caveman body. It reserves energy to survive the winter. Our instincts have not evolved to meet our modern lifestyles.

So this winter, don't be a caveman. Make plans to exercise around the nasty weather. (hello Youtube!) Plan meals, outside of your holiday indulgences. Make a navigation plan for those celebrations. Search out recipes that comfort the soul but are a little on the lighter side (brothy soups I'm looking at you).

Stock up on your favorite tea and/or coffee. Grab a good book or turn on a favorite show and sip. Or take that cup to your crafting area and make something beautiful. Make time to just enjoy yourself.

Schedule in your favorite form of divination, or begin looking into a "new to you form". Spiff up your alter if you have one. If you don't have one, that's okay. Not everyone does. In that case spend some time, in your special way with the goddess. You might discover as I have, the matron you've identified in your younger years is subtly changing. You never know.

Make some 2019 goals. They don't have to be fitness goals. Just something to set your eyes on to keep you motivated for the year. Make sure it's something reasonably achievable and give yourself a few benchmarkers along the way.

I realize none of these things feel related to each other and some of them don't feel related to wellness at all. But remember we have three parts of our selves to tend to. The Mind, the body, and the spirit. Each one needs very different things.

The Body: needs activity and nourishment.
The Mind: needs a calming release of tension and creative stimulation.
The Spirit: craves a deeper connection with your chosen deity.

The goals just help us stay on the path for the rest of it. Your goal should reflect the area you feel is most important to you right now.

You can share how you are participating in this winter challenge, but you do not have to. I would appreciate you letting us know if you are participating at all. An emoticon will do!

Bright winter blessings, goddesses!
