I will try the Bodyfit by Amy 16 Minute Standing Low Impact Legs Workout--No Squats or Lunges!

I have to be careful which exercises I do due to hip, knee and back problems. I walk and do more chair exercise so I make sure I do not stress my joints.
Being DH's carer I have to make sure I don't stress joints and end up out of action but still need to exercise.
No excuses, exercise is important to me and I set goals each week to make sure I get my exercise in every day.

As always, it's balanced, she gives options, and I had my trio of weights--3, 3.75, 5--using different ones depending on the moves.

This wasn't as intense or sweaty for me, but then I was learning new moves. I'll definitely be doing it again, and slowly moving to heavier weights.

No equipment, just bodyweight, both strength and cardio. I modified the floorwork on my fists for the leg raises and elbows for the plank step out (no jacks for me!). I appreciate that she always provides modifications to take it up or down, depending on level, and she demonstrates them all. Be warned, you may need a towel to mop the face sweat, like me!

It does go standing, floor, standing, floor. I worked up a sweat & only had trouble with the final plank move, trying to twist to side plank. Haven't figured how to modify that so it works for me & still challenges, but I liked the workout--highlighted it as a favorite on my Amy videos list.

My first time I just used 3# weights, and for the plank on my elbows, went to to 2# for the row move! I could often do the intermediate options (until we hit the floor), and in a single case did the advanced version with a balance move added. She reminds you several times you can scale back from the combo moves or use a single weight or no weight, or go slower. I'm sure I'll do this one again.

I added this comment: "I had to go much lighter and switch out weights depending on the exercise, given joint issues. Later videos acknowledge knee issues prevent some of us from lunging as deeply, and I really had to raise angle of legs on the floor chest press. I prefer the more detailed safety modifications in later workouts."

While it wasn't great, I was careful and didn't get upset, so that's a win for me!

I tried it again with the recommended 30 seconds for each activity using a countdown timer, though sometimes I've used a count up function, going for longer on some of the moves. I also rearrange the order a little, finishing with my favorite cardio move--the skater.

WARNING: Don't be put off by the advanced exercises on the first page or 2. I almost gave up reading, but am glad I went on to find gems for beginners, like ones for trapezius and rotator cuff (the latter with an exercise I got in PT), and a different gluteus muscle (not the bigger maximus one) with a very doable one with 'clam' in the title. And I do recommend clicking the links for the muscle names so you can understand what/where they are talking about!

The moves are basic, and there's a plus-sized person demonstrating them all--the blogger, Sara Lewis, aka "The Uncool Trainer," is the creator of Restore the Core for Posture Improvement. Using knowledge from her degree in exercise science and multiple certifications, she has been helping her clients move better since 2001. Pretty cool, I'd say!

I added a lengthy comment about the many modifications she offers, what I tried that worked for me--like the first time I could do a "triceps dip" without pain--just a small motion on the floor, not sinking your entire weight onto your elbows and wrists by dipping below a chair! I'm eager to check out more by her.

Boy, does she ably demonstrate that you can do yoga at any size and any weight! She could do things that I can't do! She does a pretty good job of describing what to do and what you should be feeling, though the sound wasn't always consistent (of course I had my tower fan on, also!). It's long--almost 38 minutes--so not good if you're rushed for time. But good to go at your own pace, especially as you're figuring out how to do the moves or adjust for your own level. I liked it!

If anyone likes walking or jogging, I love the Zombies, Run! app. I’m grandfathered in to the old price point, but it’s so worth it if you enjoy a good zombies story line! You’re a runner for the survivors camp and are part of the story. And each episode builds on the next so it’s an entire story that gets unfolded as you walk/jog. Super fun!

I liked the first one, though I had to hold onto a table edge for balance for 2 moves. I tried the zodiac one, but it was too fast for me to follow & try to modify quickly (mainly for wrists). I did a search for Bad Yogi beginner, and got lots of matches, so I'll try some of those..

I'm enjoying a couple of things from Bad yogi, Erin Motz.

The first is this sequence where you don't actually go on the floor. It has a fair amount of balance for a short routine. It's only about 10 minutes. You move through warrior 3, to warrior 1, then to warrior 2 and reverse warrior, before coming back to warrior 2.

I tried January Jump Start Workout #2: Total Body Strength Workout with Dumbbells, also 16 minutes. I used 3#, 3.75# & 5# weights depending on the exercise. I also had to change on-the-floor push ups to against the end table (or counter) & keep elbows tight against my body to manage without elbow or wrist strain. It was a workout!

That's the link to page 3 of the blog, where the actual exercises are, though 2 previous pages talk about the theory of Functional Fitness Training. I did 2 rounds, and on the first, the T-Stand was surprisingly hard--I kept wobbling and losing my balance, and couldn't get my hands on the floor. So the second round I used my platform from the step up move, and it worked *much* better!

I've started a 21 day Yoga challenge with Brett Larkin on You Tube. It's really nice. Her arms workout yesterday was very different from what I had expected. It worked on opening the shoulders and oiling the joints, and if you need a positive outlet for anger or frustration, the end is definitely for you. It's about 40 minutes, the first one.

Bad Yogi (Erin Motz) has a 7 Day reboot series on You Tube that I'm giving a shot this week. The videos are usually 15 minutes or less. It appears to be a February thing normally, but I figure I need short and sweet in December.

I really enjoy her routines. She's clear in her video descriptions about it being beginner, intermediate, or advanced. She's usually good about explaining modifications.

Comment: Wow--intense! I had to go to a lighter weight due to shoulder twinges with overhead moves. I couldn't quite keep up with your pace, and I'm glad you warned exercisers about the warning signs of overdoing it. The first jump start video of yours I ever did made me nauseous, so I've learned caution with pacing. Thanks for the positive commentary, too.

I tried Jessica Smith's 30 minute knee friendly bar workout. And it was fantastic. Just because it's "beginner" and "knee friendly" does not make it easy. I'm not sure if it's on Spark Tv, but here's the you tube video. I used 3 lbs hand weights and I really felt it the next day. I would suggest a 1 or 2 lbs or even a bottle of water if you don't have anything less than a 3 in your arsenal.
