Same here - I wasn't paying attention to the time, but I think I crossed between 6:15 and 6:20 in the morning - will write more details about my run after.

Wasn't my best time, wasn't my worst, but I wasn't going for time and just used this as a training for my my race in June in San Diego.

Had a blast - bummed we couldn't all meet up though - definitely next time!

Baby on board!! Due June 20th!!

It was a great race yesterday ladies. As my first half I had so much fun. Not the best finishing time but Im so glad I crossed the finish line. Cant wait til my next race.

Tammy, you were only about 10min behind the last group. I was ALL the way in the back and by the time I crossed the start it was about 6:20

Hi Tammy!

it started late anyways.... (like 7 minutes or something), so you were not too far behind everything!!

And congrats to you too!!!! That course is beautiful!!!!!

Congratulations ladies on today's race! I wish I could've seen you there, but we arrived late and didn't actually make it to the start line until 6:30!!! Obviously the race was well under way by then. Oh well, the course was relatively uncrowded for us LOL.

I had to walk the whole thing but was just so happy to be back out there, on the course. I hope to be running again by the time LB comes up!

I did 11 miles last weekend too.... maybe i'll do like 7... not sure. Dont want to push it too hard.... rather save that for next weekend (i say 7 becuase I know a route that is 7 miles, there really isnt a great 6 miler around here).

I'm doing the San Diego Mud run on 6/5! Are you doing the full at the RnR?

I think my first full might be Long Beach!

Same here - I'm so nervous for some reason!

I'm not sure yet about this weekend. I'm actually having some pain in my knees which is alarming and brand new to me. I might take it easy. We'll see. I did 10-11 miles last weekend, so I might only do 6 this weekend, although I'd originally planned on 8 for tomorrow.

I'm running a 5k at work today, so I did 3 miles yesterday, so I might take tomorrow off and run on Sunday instead.

What was your longest distance gearing up for this?

I was supposed to do 12 next weekend before I signed up for the race, so I'm just treating it, as much as I can, as a training run before SD RnR which is on 6/5.

Baby on board!! Due June 20th!!

Aaaw, sorry to hear that. Hope you're feeling better already, or start to feel better soon.

Congrats to Cameron on her race - that's so awesome!

I need to go run tonight and I'm feeling lazy and tired already. Hope we both make it for a few miles!

Well, OC is definitely not happening for me. I spent all of last week fighting some crazy throat infection and couldn't even manage a lap at the track with Cameron to help her train for her race this past weekend (BTW she did great, it was a 400m, she actually bit off more than she should have, so the goal was to just run the whole thing even if it meant slowing, but as long as she didn't walk, and she did! She was slowing down between the halfway and 3/4 mark, but then she saw someone about to pass and she picked it up and finished strong).

Hoping to get a few miles in later today along the river trail (I'm working in Anaheim today) if I can get the crap around here finished up in time.

I'm thinking about this one.... Big question is whether I want to do the miles between now and then..

I did the full 2 years ago, and the first half is definitely the nicest part of the course, starting in NB, and a good part of it is in the backbay area.

Yes, let's definitely meet up. I am planning to go Saturday.

I'm also SO NOT a morning person so 6am is early for me too, but I am trying to workout in the mornings these days so maybe it'll be easier by the time 5/1 rolls around.

Lets touch base closer to the time to make plans to meet up!

I need to make plans for that weekend and see where I am going to stay.

My husband is going to run too, but not as a registered runner. Never done that before, so hope it's okay. He doesn't care about a medal or the series, and is just tagging along for the ride.

Baby on board!! Due June 20th!!

I'm going to decide this weekend if I am going to do it. I need to check my training plan (which I wrote on a barf bag on the plane to Africa) and now I can't find it. I really want to do this series, but I only started running again about a month ago and I'm not sure if committing to three more half marathons, in addition to San Diego, is the best thing for me!

Jackie, we will miss you!

I have signed up for this race ($85 before March 31st I belive, then 95- but could be wrong about that).

I cant wait! My last HM was March of 2010. I took a long break due to getting married, but i'm back and ready to rock this race!!

I'm doing this as the part 1 of the 3 part series as well! I might even do the LB Full but still TBD.

Anyways, I look forward to meeting any other sparkers who are going!

Yay Kaitlyn!!! I've heard great things about the course!!! If you have good weather, it should be an awesome first 1/2 marathon!!! Good luck and keep posting!!!

Hi Girls!!!

I am registered for this race. I originally registered for it last year and they transfered it to this year for me. Anyways I belive that it was $85 to register for the half. My friend did it last year and said that it was a great course with beautiful views and really flat. Im looking forward to do the race in a couple of weeks. I also got an email the other day from the OC Marathon people saying that this is part of of a 3 part series. I believe it includes this race, the one in long beach and the surf city. This will be my first half so if it goes well I plan on doing the other two races.

Kaitlyn

Have you registered Jackie?

Do you know how much it is? Not running for a year sure has saved me money. I forgot how expensive the races are!!

I think I want to do this one. Is it supposed to be a nice course? It definitely sounds doable for me based on how the course sounds.

Part of the new Beach Cities Series:

This exceptional Half-Marathon starts on Newport Center Drive loop in front of our Official Start Line Hotel, the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa just south of Santa Barbara Drive. The start time for the Half Marathon is 6:00 a.m.

The first mile of the Half Marathon course includes a breathtaking panorama of the Pacific Ocean before winding through the seaside village of Corona del Mar including the spectacular Ocean Blvd. with cliffside views of Big Corona del Mar State Beach. It traverses down Bayside Drive, past the Newport Harbor Yacht Clubs and homes and boats of Newport Harbor. Exceptional views await runners at the bluffs overlooking the Upper Newport Bay Estuary Reserve as are the supportive cheers of neighborhood residents.

The Half Marathon course is net downhill in elevation from start to finish. The first 6.5 miles will be extremely fast with only minor inclines. Mile 6.5 to 7.0 is the only significant hill on the course taking the runners from 15 feet to 75 feet. The course is flat through mile 10.5 and easy rolling hills to 11.5 with a flat and fast final stretch into the OC Fair & Event Center.
