I'm actually surprised by how quickly its all coming back. I had a lot of shortness of breath during pregnancy and was really worried that would mean I'd be seriously struggling in my post-pregnancy workouts. But I'm not! I'm also able to do some of the strength exercises because I kept up yoga throughout pregnancy (though my core certainly is not as strong). I am a little fluffier (I like that word) now, especially around the middle. And I'm SORE the next day after a workout.

Love,
Hillary

Geogirl- so glad to see you back on the forums and to hear everyone is is thriving. That's so great that you can get out and run now. I imagine you probably went running without all the kids in tow, right? Do you feel like your endurance suffered while pregnant? I totally feel like you do about muscle tone being gone, but I was hoping I wouldn't have to start from square one with cardio too.

Hi Ladies!

Well I'm finally back here, its been a long journey since the triplets arrived very prematurely on April 27th. Today I went for my very first run since January, I am 59 days post delivery/c-section and I managed 5k running and then 5k walking and I'm happy that I'm back out pounding the pavement. I think I really need the stress relief I get from running.

I am back to my pre pregnancy weight but I think I've lost all of the muscle I once had, so really I am more "fluffy" and far less fit. My goal now is to keep getting back to running with the appropriate strength and stretching to go along with it and hopefully a 10k this fall and a full marathon next spring or fall (2012).

Congrats to everyone on their beautiful babies!

Smiling just makes everyones day better :)

Oh, I seriously can't wait to be able to work out again! As soon as this baby arrives, and doc gives me the go ahead to exercise, I'm going to try the c25k challenge.

Proverbs 3:7-8 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

1 Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.

I'm not putting a lot of pressure on myself this time around since I know I won't have as much time to devote to exercise. Right now, I'm doing some lighter exercise dvds and will work up to the more hardcore ones I was doing before getting pregnant. I hope to be back to my previous fitness level by the end of this year.

I can't wait to run another 5K and get through the whole C25K program. I was just talking to my husband about possibly trying cross-fit with him. He has been doing it for over 2 years now and loves it. He was pretty fit before but has seen major changes in his body and fitness level since starting. It is intimidating to me but I think I would see fantastic results and feel really good about myself. That is really what I want - to feel fit and strong again.

I got my shoes almost 2 years ago. I had tendonitis in my foot last winter when I started training for a half, which derailed my training. I had just started running again when I got pregnant...I ran for the first couple weeks, then was WAY too tired, then my uterus bounced on my bladder so I stopped running. I've been wearing those shoes to walk in and I think I definitely need some new ones...

Love,
Hillary

Hmm, I hadn't really planned out specific goals yet. I guess I am going to try to work my way back to my pre-pregnancy fitness level. I was doing half marathons so I definitely need to make good use of the jogging stroller my coworkers gave me and go running. I like your plan to work from 5k to 10k to ~20k.

I feel like I've lost a lot of muscle tone, so I need to incorporate strength training into my routine. Yoga helps a lot with that.

And there are great classes at the gym I belong to, so I'd love to make it to some of those if I can con my mom into watching the little guy.

Hillary you definitely deserve some new running shoes. Take care of those tootsies.

It's been a long time since I last ran. I know it's going to be ROUGH when I start up again, but I'm looking forward to it. My longer term goal (spring/summer 2012) is to run a half marathon. I'm going to break it up in segments. Once I'm cleared for running by my OB, I will probably start the C25K program (just to give me a training schedule). Then I'll work on a 10K training. Then the half training. I may treat myself to some new running shoes, as well!

I'll also start a little slow with the yoga - doing the postnatal yoga on my DVD's. Then I can get back into the Power Yoga routine that I was doing before I got pregnant. Pre-pregnancy, I was working on getting into a headstand without the wall. Someday I will conquer that!

What is everyone else planning on doing post-pregnancy?

Love,
Hillary
