I met my husband through his best friend. Well, when I met my husband and he disliked me immediately!! Then we both ended up at the same bible study. Little by little he became friendlier. One day our bible study had to meet at another location so everyone came to my home. After that my husband changed. I really think it was my cooking. LOL

He was always asking me out and I kept saying, "No, I do not want to spoil a friendship." And many times he would show up at meal time and I would feed him. Well, my father passed and he came to the funeral. To my surprise he never left my side and was very kind. Finally, I said, "yes" to a date.

One night we were watching our hockey team and during an advertisement he asked me to marry him. My immediate response was, "Are you kidding me?" When I saw his reaction I knew he wasn't. And you know I said, "yes". He told me that he had to ask me then because he finally had enough courage and because our hockey team was winning he could handle a "No" in case I'd tell him "No". (I knew then that he and I think so differently plus most likely he wasn't the romantic type.)

After we were engaged I kept saying, "I can't believe it." Six months later in October we were married in the church were I belonged to during my childhood.

We will soon be married 16 years.

Great stories, guys!

My dh and I met on a Friday (26th September, 1986); I was only 17. By Saturday evening, we were discussing the *idea* of marriage (not necessarily with each other, but the fact that we both saw it in our futures at some point).

Later that fall, my now-dh commented that he would like to get me a promise ring at some point. I was wearing one by late winter.

Fast forward a few years (spring 1989), and we were casually discussing when we would marry. We checked the calendar, and saw that the following spring, a 26th would end up on a Saturday in May. We chose that as our wedding date.

We shopped for a ring together. Then, my dh didn't tell me when it came in, and he picked it up alone. Then, when we were staying with his family at the cottage, he surprised me with it one morning.

My husband didn't actually ask me. We were making dinner and he said oh I want to show you something. Grab that envelope out of my briefcase. Inside was a marriage license.

Then about two days before the wedding we were out to eat and he looks at me and says I've been meaning to ask you something. I said oh what's that? He looks and me and says will you marry me?

Lord help me remember that nothing is going to happen today that you and I can't handle together.

If ignorance is bliss why aren't more people happy

A trip down Memory Lane:

How did you decide to marry?
Was the proposal traditional? Creative? Expected? Mutual?
