The Very First Starbucks and the Very First Nordstrom are in Seattle too! The Mothership if you like coffee and shopping!

I just got back from Seattle too.

The city is very walkable. Bring good shoes and just hoof it around town. We stayed near Pike Place Market and walked anywhere we wanted to go.

Top three restaurants from the trip:

Wild Ginger at Union and Third
The Pink Door at 1919 Post Alley
Le Panier Very French Bakery on Pike Place down by the Market

Have fun!

I just got back from Seattle and wrote about it in my blog. Here's the cut and paste version.

Highlights of the Seattle Area (we did lots of other tourist things but these were our favorites):
A (very short) hike to the Big Four Ice Caves was like walking into a fairytale.
Boeing's Future of Flight plant tour will blow your mind
Dinner at sunset atop the Space Needle was yummy, well sized, and had an amazing view
Urban Woods Furniture Showroom (if you are into woodworking this stuff is beyond belief at "reasonable" prices)
www.urbanhardwoods.com/
Pike Place Market was fun for the fresh foods, local flavors, and brightly colored flowers.

I really enjoyed kayaking on Puget Sound and Lake Union. You can rent kayaks at several places and have either a calm or exciting kayak trip (depending on where you go). The sit-on-top kayaks require almost no training and won't roll. You can also do kayak tours farther north in the San Juan Islands, but you can have a quiet couple of hours right in Seattle.

It was so long ago that I don't recall where exactly I rented my kayak, but I remember the peaceful feeling out on the water. Google "seattle kayak rental" for a long list of places.

If you have extra time, a seaplane ride to Victoria Canada is outstanding. The Butchart Gardens are exquisite! The ferry is cheaper, but you don't see nearly as much. We took the sea plane to the island and the ferry back.

Enjoy your trip!

You'll love Seattle! How long will you stay? Do you have kids? If so, how old? What kinds of things do you like to do? Any mobility or other issues. Do you like to go on the water? Sorry to sound so nosy, but it makes a diff in what I'd recommend. Still, taking the Duck for an overview is a good, fun idea. Of course, you have to go to Pike Place Market. But there's lots more to do. BTW, where are you coming from?

Hello everyone. We're going to Seattle soon for the first time. I would love to know your favorite things to do, places to see, restaurants, bars, sightseeing tours, cruises, day trips, etc., etc. We're excited!

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

The time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time.
