The book "Eat Pray Love" by Elizabeth Gilbert is an AMAZING book, and the movie will be out soon (I think in August). But I read the book 3 times, i recommend that first. You never know how they'll chop up a good book to fit it into a 2 hour movie. :)

You are welcome. Glad you checked out the song. I wish I could Eurovision on TV but at least there is YouTube. I love the song and she does it well.

SassiSpring thanks for your post on my blog, I checked out that song from Anna Bergendahl - This Is My Life. It's great to see someone have the experience of singing on a stage like that with such a huge production and audience!

Hi. I'm MizCole and I am new to this SparkTeam, but I figured it fit more than a lot of other teams out there. In terms of inspiration, it would have to be "Single" by Natasha Bedingfield (well, she's married now), but the song still applies. emoticon

The Mirror Has Two Faces, haven't seen that in years. I'll have to find it somewhere and watch. I remember it was very good.

I found someone inspiring. Our provincial news ends with a happy story from Mike McCardell. Today he saw a lady walking with her walker to the local grocery store. The store is 4 blocks from her home. She is 98yrs old! Walks every day to the store for groceries. She never smoked, occasional drink of beer or wine and believes walking is very important. Her husband died in 1945 from a heart attack and she was left as a single parent. Her son was 6 months old at the time. He's grown up to "a fine man with a wonderful wife, good job, nice home." He calls her every night, takes turns with his wife. She inspires me to stop feeling sorry for myself, take my body that doesn't require a walker and go for walks!! No excuse. :)

DARUMA I love Sue Grafton, love her detective and want to live in her house and drive her VW.
But it is only fiction.

I love The mirror has two faces. Interesting take on a older woman and attitudes about marriage.

Awesome suggestions. I haven't heard of the books mentioned, so will have to check them out one day. Well I did hear of Sue Grafton's books, just never read them yet. I haven't seen that movie with Katherine Hepburn. Last Holiday was cute, good reminder and motivator to live and enjoy every moment.

" Every decision you make - every decision - is not a decision about what to do. It's a decision about Who You Are. When you see this, when you understand it, everything changes. You begin to see life in a new way. All events, occurrences, and situation turn into opportunities to do what you came here to do." -unknown

I honestly can not remember where I found this but I have it hanging on my wall in my office. I absolutely LOVE it!!! Everytime I start feeling crappy about my life, problems, difficult decisions, etc... I read this and somehow I can put things into perspective.

"We shall not cease from exploration and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time."

movies - I don't know how many of you have seen Queen Latifa's "Last Holiday" but I love it. Just about all of Katherine Hepburn's movies. "In My Shoes"

books - "In this House of Brede" about a woman who becomes a cloistered nun at the age of 42;
Sue Grafton's alphabet series - "A is for Alibi" through "T is for Trespass";
actually there are lots of good woman as investigator stories in the mystery section (if you want to laugh at loud, go back to a Nancy Drew mystery)

I am not particularly interested in saving time; I prefer to enjoy it. - Eduardo Hughes Galeano

I'm looking forward to checking these vidz out when I can get to YouTube. Just one of those nights, I guess. :D

There's a book I love called "Leota's Garden" by Francine Rivers, & it's about an elderly woman who's been abandoned by her family. Her daughter & son misunderstood her motives for going out to work when they were small, &, well, there's more to it.

The reason I mention it here is because Leota's daughter had a daughter, & her name eludes me at this time. That girl was an independent woman who didn't want to follow her mother's plans. She ends up moving in with Leota & caring for her 'til Leota dies. This girl is a great example of a young woman who doesn't feel the need for a man in her life to make her happy nor to fulfill her. She's found what she wants to do, at least for the time being, & is pursuing that with gusto, no man involved. There are 2 men who pursue her, but she ends up with neither, at least not by the book's end.

It is a Christian book, but I know that this girl is a great example of a single woman who knows her own mind & is pursuing her purpose without thinking a man has to be a part of that. She's not a man hater - she just knows that there's no man for her at this particular time.

Blessings,
Michelle :)

Ali started a board about sharing quotes (etc) regarding being single and I thought it would be a great idea to expand to inspiration and motivation.

Share quotes, books, movies and songs (music) that you feel is inspiring and motivating. These may also slip between both boards - as some are both inspiring and about living solo. :)
